Well, Pete, I ran my own painting business for years, and I can count the jobs I made money on one hand! No regular pay check at the end of each month! You don't work - you don't get paid! As soon as you stop moving, you start losing money! Show some respect to one of the best there is!

Go get a job working for someone else if running your own business is too hard. FUCK !!! You guys complain to much.. You let your customers run your business. Its obvious you guys are kick ass painters and know your stuff, but management and business wise, you guys have a think or two to learn.

First up id like to make clear that I am not a professional painter or mechanic.

There is really not enough rom in here to post my answer, but ill outline the main points I think Pete and other great blokes like him go wrong in trade business.

1. Dont let your customer dictate what happens with a job. (No free jobs!!!)

2. Stop all negatively in the worklace/workshop.

3. Have a check list before any cars enter the workshop, if they dont pass the test, they get sent away.
