This is what I don't understand, the leaf is electric that has a solar panel for "electronic accessories".  the Prius has an optional solar panel for the ventilation. I understand you can get aftermarket modifications to have seperate solar panels charge the battery, but why won't stock solar panels charge the battery? I'd rather have the solar charge the battery during the day if it is sunny outside suring work than have to plug it in at night.

@golcozenzo thats not entirely true, maybe in the USA, but for instance in Colombia 75-80% of our electricity is produced by hydroelectric power plants, which leaves no emissions, and in denmark they are round 95% eolic power (wind power)

What pisses me off is that commercial let us think that electric cars are green. But it is not the case, in fact they pollute more than a normal compact gazoline car. An electric/hybrid car polute less than a gazoline ONLY while running, but at the end of the day, if you conseder the production emition of the car, the recycling emition and the increase of electric plant emition; the gazoling car wins over the electric hands down.

the noise made by the hazards sounds like those in Renaults, wondering about how much components are the french and the Japanese sharing in their new cars, because Renault bought up nissan in 1998 and it has become better i think, and now Renaults are more reliable and cheap to repair. Good but i liked more the french version, the Fluence, a bit more good looking.

@LordKevin92 Oh yeah, Honda actually made a v6 hybrid accord from 06-07which is the same idea because it's more luxury and yet it's good on gas which got the same as my Honda Fit does, 28 city/35 highway. I thought that it kinda defeated the purpose and I still think it should have been a 4 cyl, but it's still a neat concept. I believe they will be coming back for the 2013 model year. I agree, I mean it would be great if they all thought this way.

@HLM190586 The Leaf looks this way for a reason, aerodynamics. The headlights direct airflow away from the side mirrors to let the vehicle cut through the air. The Leaf may look small but the usable space is on par with a larger vehicle. The fit and finish is amazing also, it really feels like a premium car.

the whole reason behind the raised headlights is so they deflect airflow around the mirrors because the airflow going around the mirror made a noise and since the engines virtually quiet, it was very audible while driving

The thing is, this car would work well for me for 90% of the time. The trouble is the other 10% I'd need to borrow a vehicle for.

When this car can hit 200 miles and charge on 120v power in 10 hours or less then it will be more popular. I suspect they will come awful close to that in the next gen. 200 mile range and 3-4,000 cheaper, and these things will fly off the lot.

The styling is boring. But i believe it has something to do with the aerodynamic of the car. Design it like a Chrysler 300 maybe reduce the mileage because of the wind resistance and turbulence at the back.

The headlamps, I've heard, were designed to direct air away from the wing mirrors because the only sound you could hear while driving was the sound of the air rushing over them. Jeremy Clarkson talks about it in the electric cars episode of Top Gear.

The Prius Plug-In Hybrid kicks this car's ass! That's because the Prius can run off of electricity, and then if that runs out, it has a hybrid engine just like the 3rd gen Priuses (Prii?) of today...that's definitely better then just having a battery and then running out after 80 something miles, the Prius probably has a range of like 200 something miles b/c of the 2 engines...too bad it doesn't come out till next year, and I'm broke =(
