I know. There have been loads of similar stories written about magic schools. And normal boarding schools with similar characters to Harry Potter and Mildred Hubble. They are not copies of the worst witch characters, they could be similar to any people from any other boarding school, based book or magic based book, in the world. There are loads of them. If JK had never even heard of the worst witch, she could still have come up with these characters. I'm sorry, I don't really see any strong similarities anyway.

@Rowan07001484 I totally agree. HP might be close with the basics like witches & wizards, teachers, boarding school ect, but worst witch is about a witch who is... well, not so good at wizardry. They are two very different stories. Like Lemonade and Lemon, Lime & Bitters, they have some of the same (as in the lemon) but are very different. Snape and Miss Hardbroom are very alkie in some aspects. But the way the actor of Snape talks or even the character makes me laugh.

@Rowan07001484 Actually the stories and characters are a lot alike. There are a whole hell of a lot more similarities between those two I.Ps than magic and boarding schools. Oh, and I've read my fair share of books. I can tell the difference between inspired stories and complete ripoffs.
It doesn't help that Rowling, in her interview, said that the whole concept of Harry Potter just came to her on a train ride- as in she wasn't inspired and it was her original idea. That's BS.

She could have meant the whole storyline came to her on a trainride, or parts of it. Other details she obviously was inpired by from other books and myths. There's no need to imply that she is talking Bullshit. If it was a rip she could be sued, it is not a rip off and is nothing like the worst witch series, I have read both and find them very very different. Think what you like. But at the end of the day you're just talking crap.

@Rowan07001484 I totally agree. HP might be close with the basics like witches & wizards, teachers, boarding school ect, but worst witch is about a witch who is... well, not so good at wizardry. They are two very different stories. Like Lemonade and Lemon, Lime & Bitters, they have some of the same (as in the lemon) but are very different. Snape and Miss Hardbroom are very alkie in some aspects. But the way the actor of Snape talks or even the character makes me laugh.

Origin
This has the feel of a Shakespearian or Biblical phrase, but it isn't as old as it sounds.
