  • 5:12 I like meatloaf. Meatloaf is good.

  • Our Warrior Cat GrayStripe says hi to El Gato!! :) We love our kitty who hunts for us! lol if only we ate mice..I'd never have to shop for meat lol :)

  • after a while of making meat loaf with hamburger I decided to make a chicken loaf using chicken instead of hamburg it turned out good,,

  • meat loaf is my favorate thing to cook you can do anything with it I never make my meat loaf twice the same way I always make it different each time,,try placing a hard boiled egg in the center of your meat loaf before you cook it when ya slice it up youll have a slice of hard boiled egg in the center of each piece,,I also have used a bundit cake pan to make another meat loaf when its done it comes out in a ring form,,then place your vegetables in the center of your meat loaf,

  • i like it cause you eat like i do lots of greens and pure southern comfort food

  • Very clear and friendly presentation.

  • Great job ! My mother used to make a meatloaf with Rotel hot tomatoes and green chilis mixed in with crushed up green onion potato chips as filler. When I was a kid I never came home late for supper on meatloaf night . A big helping of mashed potatoes on the side. That's all the fuel an Ozark hillbilly kid like me needed. Allways better when Mom made it ! Now I am 50 and still can't duplicate the recipe. Should have payed closer attention ! Thanks

  • give me that meatloaf!!!!

  • my beautiful cat was like that meowing so loud to go out, he would come home with wounds, i just coudnt stop him fighting other cats . All the fights eventually caught up with him, he passed away in august.

  • Thanks ;)

  • Quick question for anyone that can answer. Why do you put ketchup on meatloaf?

  • This man is soooooo entertaining it's unreal. Gosh! The bit about the EL GATO is priceless. He likes to be outside here he can KILL THINGS!! LOL! I love this man and his recipes. The way he was patting that meatloaf, idk, but....makes a person wonder ~.o

  • Dave I love this video! Hope your cat is ok!

  • Are you gonna make more cooking videos? ):

  • I add 1 teaspoon of vegimite and french onion in mine yummy

  • I LOVE your kitty!!! Male cats seem to be a lot more vocal than females...at least that's been my experience. Great shows all around, Dave!

  • I used a different recipe and cooked it for 1-1 1/2 hours and there was a lot of water boiling, and around 170-180 degrees, do I need to use more bread crumbs and for less time? Thanks and I enjoyed your video.

  • I dont know, where did all the water come from? Mayne you should use more bread crumbs or you could use my recipe?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • awesome cookin thanks for making cooking simpler lol

  • What kind of accent is that? It makes me laugh. But that's why I enjoyed this video. "Everybody's got to become one." Haha! Awesome. I'm going to try this. Never made meatloaf before. Thanks!

  • I like your videos. Your mellow attitude makes it feel like we're hanging out.

  • Dave, I really like your videos, I love cooking, and have been cooking for over 37 years. I

live in oregon, and I am very interested in Southern Cooking. Could you do a recipe w limas, and how do you use Ham Hocks ?

  • Hello Lady,

I have a lima beans video. Search for it on my main channel. I do not use ham hocks because I think they are too salty or at least they make your food too salty. I use hame steaks or bacon and chicken broth to flavor my beans and greens. Thanks for watching!

    Dave

  • Hey Dave how you doing me just looking at your good looking meatloaf and now I know to make some thank you so much and Iam just learning how to cook more things I know how to cook a little so I have to look at more cooks.

  • i made it and it tasted like shit

  • dave you broth idea is awesome! thanks for the info!

  • I like to layer the top with bacon strips before cooking the meat loaf, then hitting it with the ketchup just before it's finished. Of course, I'm not allowed bacon anymore, but I do sneak it sometimes!

  • I'm loving Gato!!

  • 'El Gato' lol

  • it means cat in spanish

  • @darklink321 haha yeah i knoww im spanish its just funny how he says it

  • u ever cook withe moose meat

  • Hi MrWisers69,

You bet we're cooking meat loaf with moose meat. Living in the deep woods of Sweden we don't have much choice because the next cow is located hundreds of miles away but we are crowded by moose!!! Joke aside, moose is an excellent substitute for beef,, making meat loaf, burgers etc. Just send me a reply-eventually with your e-mail address and I'll send you an excellent recipe for moose meat loaf and burgers. We DO live in the deep forrests of Sweden and that's NO JOKE!!!

  • Chef Dave if you were on the fire dept. we would volunteer you to be fulltime cook! Love your meals!

  • I love your videos, thanks for sharing your delicious recipes. :-)

  • Dave, I like that you put the potatoes around, now did you already have them cooked before you put them in the pan? let me know so I can try it this way...thanks! :)

  • @cassapollard No I do not cook them before. They have to be raw or they will cook to much. I cooked this just the other day and it is good!

    THanks,

    Dave

  • Dave do you use can green beans, or fresh? I have been making meat loaf for years, now, and never ever knew you could make it that way. This is the first I ever saw any one use, chicken soup, or put the potatoes in with the meat loaf. I'll give it a try very soon..David in Kentucky..

  • @davideli7879 I use can, you can use fresh, add them from the begining. When I use can beans I add them half way through so they do not cook too much.

    thanks,

    Dave

  • nice dave..i like the presentation

  • well done!! must try it

  • I love all your recipes man. I made the ham with the mustard and brown sugar for my family for Christmas. They were like "MAN THIS GOOD!!! WHERE YOU GET THE RECIPE!?!?" :D

  • Dave, you the man, great cooking style--one request--stuffed peppers. Thanks man.

  • Wayne, Did you enjoy the stuffed peppers?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • great vid,Dave. Love that accent. I'm cooking the "chicken soup" as we speak from a can of low sodium chicken stock and a mirepoix with garlic and fresh parsley. I know,it's a mediocre substitute for you real chicken soup but it's all I had in the house ;). Have a nice day.

  • Hey Dave, Love your videos. When making meatloaf, is there anything I can use for a substitute for the egg? Im allergic to eggs and can't even stand to crack one open. TIA

  • Dude,

You are awesome. Made me laugh..with "meatloaf...its a god idea"

    Peace from Costa Rica.

  • Yeah Dave, Cats can be finicky... thanx for the response, I just love cooking vids and used to watch them a lot years back on P.B.S. Did you ever watch those? Like the Justin (Cajun Guy) show or others? You must know the guy.. he always said.. "I Guaronteeee..." Trouble is, that I can only watch for sooo long and then I'm off to the grocery store and spendin' more money than I should.. haha

    be well..

  • Yes, I remember Justin Wilson. He passed a few years back. Thanks for watching!

    Dave

  • Hey Dave!

I just found you here on youtube, because I was looking for a new meatloaf recipe. I am a food network fan and I am always on that website. I saw you make your meatloaf with the chicken soup in it, and I was sold! I tried it two days ago and I had to fight my husband for the last piece!!! It was guuuud! I love good country cookin' and you are a great cook! I love watching you, and I hope that El gato is doing well.

  • Hey India! Thanks, thats is a great compliment! I love to cook!

  • LOL El Gato kills things XD

  • Yes he does! LOL

    Dave

    Thanks Dave!

  • Thats cool rhey! Let me know!

    THanks,

    Dave

  • Hahaha. I love this little speech about El Gato

  • I like to use a packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix in my meat loaf mix...adds lots of that flavor you're looking for....I also saute some onions, garlic, carrots, and a serrano chili or two in some olive oil and add that in as well. Same idea as you got here Dave. Very delicious!

  • thanks once again dave i havent had meat loaf since i was like 8 but i think thats all about to change except one thing over here we cant get mustard based bbq sauce so is there anything else u can sugest in its place thanks once again bro

  • Hey Fastastheflash, Meat loaf is goooood! Sure you can use any BBQ sauce that you like. You could use ketchup and mustard if you like. The important ingredient here is the chicken soup. So great flavor from the soup!

    THanks,

    Dave

  • Whenever I roast potatoes I add a can or two (depending on the amount of potatoes) of chick peas (aka garbanzo beans) to those and I tell you....you talk about good! You might want to try it some time! The chick peas come out sweet and nutty and soft and they taste so good together with roasted potatoes...especially if you add some garlic, onions and bell peppers to that too!

  • here in the philippines, we have our version of meatloaf, which is called a "embutido" its basically the same ingredients, the difference is you put in a foil like a big sausage and steam it, after its done let it rest and then fry it with oil until its brown, its good! please try it.

  • Sounds interesting. I will look it up and see if I can cook it for you.

    THanks,

    DAve

  • yay! i dunno why im happy youre replying to my comments. but i am

  • I don't like lean hamburger for meatloaf because it's dry. There is no moisture for the bread crumbs to soak it up. But Dave's use of lean hamburger with chicken broth for moisture is a great idea which I intend to try. You use eggs so that the meatloaf won't crumble apart.

  • good idea with the potatos around the meatloaf!

  • I love your video's! I'll keep watching and learning!

  • Hey cassandra! Thanks!

  • Makin' your meatloaf and greens tonight. Thanks for your informative videos.

  • Thanks MT, Let me know how it goes!

  • "Hit it with some union Powraaahh, some garlic powraaahh"... What a genius! Thanks for the tips brother.

  • makes me hungry..you might want to try wrapping a hardboiled and peeled egg inside that meat before you throw it in the oven

  • Yeah, you can do that, I just aint about the boiled egg in my meatloaf. It has egg in it? thanks for the comment.

  • I tryed that but the egg taste yucky, if you do that. It looks nice yes but the taste is horrible. So no eggs in my meatloaf.

  • Poor wee puddy tat hope Gato is better. Great recipes Dave ive used several of them cheers Mate

  • LOL It took me a minute to decifer that. Yeah Gato is all healed. His latest feat was getting lock under the nieghbors house for 5 days. He was hungry but once again, still alive! Thanks

  • Dave your meatloaf looks great! I'm going to try this next time I make meatloaf, thank you for the recipe.

  • I'm addicted to your videos Dave. I've always cooked some, but you have given me several good ideas. Keep up the good work, and do you ever cook ribs? My wife loves ribs like from Damons and places. I've tried making them for her but they are always so tough, they have a good taste but it's like eating a tasty shoe lol.

  • LOL Hey Thanks for the nice words. You have to cook the ribs slow or boil them first. I have a pork rib video up? I think? I havent made a video of beef ribs, but i can!

    thanks

  • ok thanks

  • Dave, thanks to you, there is a 25 year old bachelor in Myrtle Beach that can cook now without burning his house down lol. Thanks.

  • much garlic* :) lol

  • The chicken soup is loaded with garlic and I also add some when I mix it up?

  • oh, i didn't know about the chicken soup, cause i haven't seen a chicken soup video, yet. (hint, hint) :D but, yummy!!!! :D you are a very good cook! :D i'll have to try the meatloaf sometime. :)

  • Hey Brad! I hope you like it? I think Grandma would like it too!

    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • My b-day is in december as well... The 8th... I would love to see you make chicken stir fry..Your recipes are awesome and i need a good stir fry recipe....

  • Great videos but you should really consider using fresh garlic and not that stuff in a jar.

  • OK, I will if you can tell me the difference? The way I see it the only difference is convience. It is not FAKE garlic? On the side of the Jar it says Ingredients: Garlic and Olive oil.

  • For me at least it's the taste. Garlic in a jar looses loads of its flavor when it's been marinading in oil.

I guess you're right, it's not fake garlic, just not as fresh as it could be.

  • It is the same for fresh or dry herbs. Dry lose same flavor. BUT if you cook those same herbs LONGER they will yield there flavor. I think it is the same for the garlic. You just have to use more OR cook them longer. The flavor is still there it just takes longer to come out. Most things I cook for a long time anyway. BUT TO each his own. You use fresh and I am sure that your food will taste GREAT!

  • Dave, great videos but you need to get one of those clip-on mics so that we can hear you better.

    Cheers.

  • my cat heard your cat meow.tnen

    she started to meow.

that meatloaf looks so good.Gato wants some!
