  • This is a classic and no remake will ever beat this I agree the 2008 version was crap! Love this version.

  • thumbs up if you recognize aunt bea

  • The visitor looks out the window of his Walter Reed General Army Hospital room? Min 00:37

Watt's striking me about shape of the courtyard?

  • Absolutely one of the most perfect sci-fi movies ever made. The music was excellent, the script, and most importanly, the message. Imagine all the nations of the Earth working together to invent a cure for cancer or a way to grow crops on Mars or a car that gets 200 mpg or even a way to turn salt water into fresh water so we never run out? Do those postive things instead of our petty jealousies. And look! It's Aunt Bee from Andy Griffith before she moved to Mayberry.

  • Do you see that light on/off fixture on the wall in the breakfast scene? We had those in our house while growing up. Instead of flipping a switch, you pushed a button like the old Dodge transmission of the early 60's that was push button, too.

  • I agree, The 2008 "remake" was a joke. Just because film technology is available now, doesn't mean you should use it. The original was scary but also held a great message. And the music of the original was just perfect. If you are gonna do a remake of a classic like the 1951 version, then do it as close to the original as possible. Who would play Klaatu? Possibly Jeremy Irons or Jude Law.

  • the spaceman got away ? but we locked the door and everything ! HAHAHAHA

  • WHY are some parts of this blocked??? It's fucken 60 years old!!

  • @jezmuff because your still watching it.

  • Guess it's not public domain after all. Parts 1 and 2 are blocked by FOX, who claim copyright. I can't believe they make such a fuss over an old movie...

  • The Spaceman rules!

  • Olan Soule & Frances Bavier pre-Andy Griffeth Show.

  • considering he come from and is a more advanced ! he,s a god dame! fu*$ker! littler bug, lol

  • This movie didn't need fancy gadgits or computerized crap, it was well made & had good actors. Today's Si-Fi stuff ...too boring.....not much of a story..I like the original "Twilite Zone" series....

  • "People my foot......, they're Democrats."

    So true. Scumwad liberals.

  • @equinoxranch

Except in 1951, the democrats were the conservatives, not the liberals. Dumbass!

  • Boardinghouses like this were common in D.C. in the decade after WWII. A big new population (including many blacks and young women) had crowded in for war work in the bureaucracy, and well, like most Gov't they were slow to leave. Don't read anything into the composition of this group -- all kinds washed up in Wash., and EVERYBODY needed a roof over his/her head. David Brinkley described his boarding house experience extensively in his memoir, "Washington at War."

  • the 2008 version had a sequence, as I recall, where keaneau and the annoying kid's annoying mom are wandering aimlessly in a forest...remminiscent of "plan 9 from outer space"....what an incredibly bad movie -- doesn't even qualify for "so bad it's good" status -- an insult to this one.

  • Everything about this movie is class. An absolute classic. A massive opportunity missed for the remake. One of the biggest dissapointments ever. Done properly, it might have been one best films in years. As it is, This original remains one of the true SCI FI high points in the genre.

    thanks for posting

  • yep, I recall rennie in a robe...in The Robe, I reckon. also, he was a cool "adventurer" in Journey to cntr of Earth, or something. ...had discernable presence, beyond acting perhaps, ...kind of like mcqueen, but different...if you know what I mean.

  • micheal renne could've really nailed the jesus role, methinks.

  • @newnewly Michael Rennie did play in a biblical movie though. He played Peter in The Robe (1953) Yeah, but I see what you mean, he could've easily play Jesus.

  • @newnewly I see what you did thar.

  • We were in better shape when we had to get up and GO TO the movies. ;])

  • wheeee hes away

  • I went to a small school back then & lived "middle class"....when this movie came out in 1951, people were too scared to see it...I like the movie, it keeps you wondering about aliens, but not the scary type !

  • I first viewed this film at the age of seven, fell in love with its main hero and have watched it numerous times since. A true sci-fi classic.

  • Gosh ! What an exciting world it was those days for the middle and upper middle class. You came home from a secure job to a secure wife and kids doing their homework from a secure school run by a secure government adn all you had to do was to stay indoors hiding away from aliens.

  • "Im impatient w/Stupidity'" I love that

  • I guess in 1953 you could pay rent for a room at a boarding house like this one and the food was included. MAN! What a deal. Pay rent and have someone cook your meals?

    .

I can see why there is a single mother with a boy and one single man staying at a boarding house...but what is up with the middle aged couple? They must be hard up at their age staying at a boarding house?

    .

It was a DIFFERENT world in 1953.

  • I guess Klatu has no Moral objection to STEALING. His suit belongs to a Major Carpenter. Not only did he steal Major Carpenters suit but his suitcase as well.

    .

I guess Stealing on Klatu's planet is OK. It seems strange to come down here in a stolen suit and PREACH to us about ETHICS.

  • 2008=crap, this movie was boss. i wish an alien would come here and be like, Yo quit with the dumb shit or we will destroy you.

  • God the 2008 version was crap compared with this!!

  • @ScreaminEagle17 crap? it was Shit!

  • @ScreaminEagle17: God the 2008 version was crap compared with this!!

JM: The 2008 version was so bad, I consider it an insult to the original. Really, the original can not be remade. Michael Rennie is the only possible Klaatu. It's the film in it's entirety, of course. Klaatu, Gort, the spacecraft, the music, the message. My favorite part, at the beginning the crowd surges forward with curiosity....when Gort steps out, the crowd recoils in fear. This establishes Gort to the audience.

  • Wow....what a radio announcer. The terrorist is right there.

  • I'm impatient with stupidity - my people have learned to live without it.

    pwned!

  • Every other man seems to be smoking in the film

  • The most obviously kick ass name lol Mr. Carpenter XD

  • what a hoot to see a young aunt bea from the andy giffith's show

  • 3:13 Oi! Klaatu, the high and mighty being from the so called advanced world just littered the pavement!!!!

  • Please subscribe I wanna create a Public Domain channel but to do so I need more then 10 minutes upload time for the movies, otherwise I have to cut them into 10 minutes video clips. To get more then 10 minutes upload time I need a YOUTUBE partnership and to get the partner ship I need 1000 subscribers.

    Thanks for suporting the art.

  • @TheRastaSamurai

no problemo i did subscribe but i could not see the first part :(

  • @TheRastaSamurai
