  • hmm jim james reminds me of ryan dun

  • Louisville Ky suckers

  • whats the name of the first song

  • smoking from shoot'n bitches...

  • Great band.... solidified.

  • One of the hardest working bands today

  • Well said MMJ, don't be a prisoner of your own style

  • Thank you for all the good times My Morning Jacket.

  • "farewell to mr walker - the northern lights" you will dig it

  • Dirty Hippies

  • @birdstuckinchimney

    yeah they're such hippies...

  • nahahaha i wanna touch their beards :D))

  • A really interesting band. And this guy has a exceptional voice. Crazy watching them perform.

  • WHAT'S THE BEST ALBUM OF MJJ? CAN ANYONE HELP ME TO CHOSE?

  • @Callehero1 Evil Urges is a really really good album. Circuital, which came out in May this year [i think] is amazing too. I'd say they're MMJ's best albums. hope that helps ha :)

  • @WAAAAAAAAAAAY thanks dude :D

  • @Callehero1 Their discography can be somewhat of a stylistic journey but my personal favorite album that seems to best define the bands sound is It Still Moves.

  • at :43 band on the run?

  • Comment removed

  • hipster douche nozzle band

  • @MrGreenJelly really not hipster at all actually, like, give them some steps to make them less hipster. You can't do it! Unless you tell em to go gangsta, should they go gangsta? gangsta sells lots.

  • "The jam band for people who don't like jam bands". Right. This is the least jammy band I've ever heard. Every song by them is up-its-own-ass, just like a lot of Phish's songs are. If these are the two bands the public think represents jam music culture no wonder people say stupid shit like this.

You guys are fags, go listen to dream theatre and post about how awesome you are because you totally bought your first 8th of weed.

  • @anonyrurz if you don't like them then why in god's name are you on this page??

  • @anonyrurz Ok first, dream threatre is progressive Metal not a jam band. This band is there own style so dont dis what you dont understand. My morning Jacket though original is not a jam band ether.

  • @anonyrurz MMJ creates music that makes many people happy. why would you be angry about that!

  • @anonyrurz First off, I am in fact a fag. Secondly, I do listen to Dream Theatre, and in fact actually own ALL of their CDs. Third, I still like this band. Get over yourself mate, the sooner you do, the happier and more open your life will be.

  • @anonyrurz Are you trying to diss Dream FUCKING Theater?! If you are then you are instantly a stupid person!

  • there are only a select few of new bands that i genuinely enjoy, this is one of them.

  • 12 people need a hug

  • Best fuckin band ever. Such genuine gentlemen. Such genuine music. Love the new album so so much too.

  • People really aren't as different as they think they are

  • I don't find anything wrong with change, nothing should ever stay the same, as long as the message is true to who they are.

Circuital is speaking to me on a very personal level, and I just discovered this band 2 days ago. I'm a latino hip hop head from the hood of philly, but I so do appreciate a great message no matter the genre and they speak on it! They blur the lines of every walk of humanity.

  • Cant wait for you guys to come to Quincy,Ca for High sierra music festival!!!!! You guys will rock the house i know it.....Keep rockin guys...keep making beutiful music for everyone to enjoy....

    See you guys soon..!

  • I want to live in Jim James' mouth.

  • 1:10 Exactly the action and face i pulled when first getting into MMJ!!

  • love. love. the message.

  • dude how do i grow a beard like Jim James? i so want that beard type lol i just got stupid stubbles

  • @seanamadrid dont shave...ever

  • The only thing that is more awesome than MMJ's music, is Jim James' beard. Agreed?

  • Learn how to meet women naneedj.info

  • What is the song that starts at 1:56?

  • @rawlly88 Touch Me I´m Going To Scream Part II

  • @rawlly88 Touch me im going to scream Part 2. Its awesome

  • The term ‘sell-out’ or they have 'sold-out' has been changed to... ‘successful’

  • grateful dead/pink floyd? and bringing back that nice stoney feeling of the 60's unreal!

  • wats the song playing from like 1:20-150, :D i love MMJ

  • @vansboy13 Thank You Too. There is a great version, In the Basement

  • I think they need to shave. Sorry, dont like beard.

  • why the shit would someone realy hate a band because they want to progress in their music and bring it out? sure its annoying that every other person and their mom knows their "new hit" but think about it, its a hit! you should be proud that a band can progress and grow, not be shallow and selfish.

    dicks.

  • I never heard of them before i watched american dad.

Still not a fan, I dont even like the band. Just this song and thats it. I dont see a reason to get all jealous or protective over such a band. They're simple. No band is wort being a fan for.

Just listen to their song regadles to their fame or other fans

  • I've heard MMJ before but I haven't really listened to them until now and it feels like my ear is playing into my chest.

  • one of the best bands out there in my opinion.

  • Word.

  • The vocals remind me of those of Band Of Horses!

  • I discovered this band from American Dad lol.

  • Yeah, don't complain about them 'selling out' when you were the one who most likely pirated their music

  • The only thing sold out about this band is the tickets for their concert.

  • h e a v e n l y _ g o d d e s s 8 1

  • Is it just me or do they kind of remind you of Band of Horses? If you like these guys chances are you will like BOH.

  • @KissHope I actually looked on a music map. I plugged in BoH, and MMJ was right by them on the map. I'm looking into bands similar to BoH because I think BoH has some really great songs.

  • @jdklaffke14 Not to sound too "girly" but the song by BOH "No One Is Gonna Love You" is almost a spritual song to me. Saw a video of an extreme dirt bike with their song "Funeral" (2nd fav) and I was so blown away, immediatley looked up the music and started listening to songs. When No One played man it ripped out my soul and had me crying like a girl...lol BOH reaches way down inside with their music...I think you will enjoy the more you discover.

  • @KissHope Oh yeah, BoH is great. I've heard probably 20 of their songs since I first started listening to them. No One's Gonna Love You is my favorite of theirs - it seems so different compared to their other stuff. The only song that kind of comes close is The Funeral.

  • @jdklaffke14 Try a band Fleet Foxes

  • @tooheys1968 White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxed is one of my favs!

  • thumbs up if your watching this because of American dad

  • @Ghmaster82 thank so much for telling the name of that amazing song! =D

  • anyone knows what is the music that stan from american dad hears in the concert of my morning jacket?

  • @rbahute pretty sure its touch me im going to scream part 2 but i dont really remember.... thats the song in his trip lol. great episode, great band.

  • @rbahute

Wordless Chorus is the name of the song.

  • Where da fuck was i ???this band is great, but in Europe no one knows them ??? Thank you FOX and American Dad...

  • Wit A Band,i watch'd em on The Basement live lastnite,Amazing!!

  • Fuck "sell out" , if you are mad that more people hear & enjoy their music. That is YOUR problem. When I hear a band I like, I pass it on to the people I think will like it as well. Why be selfish, unless you WROTE the music yourself?

  • The only time I would consider someone a sell out is if they completely stopped writing music for themselves. They would give up all creative control to the producers just to sell - that's a sell out.

  • 8/20 2010 In Burlington might just be the best live experience of my life and I've seen many Phish and DMB shows. Can't wait to see these guys live!

  • How did they "sell out"? They sell out shows; I know that. Unless they are holding a product in front of a camera, I don't think they are selling out.

By the way, best band working today.

  • @slytown I don't know about best today, but they will be once Phish hangs it up. These guys are great though

  • @slytown

dewd, best word of advice, any time some bitch tit says sold out, they have no idea what they're thinking about

the only bad thing a band could ever do is grow too far from their sound, they should grow, but not become different

  • @slytown i love thm. wouldnt give a fuck if they came out with a commercial endorsing extenz. as long as it doesnt spoil the music

  • @slytown i wouldnt call them sellouts, because they are still very much about the music and experimenting with sounds, but they have changed. They have become a little more flashy. They used to get on stage wearing tshirts and jeans and they would tear the house down with amazing music. They still tear the house down, but now theres a little more flashyness. Stage effects, crazy outfits and what not. Im not saying that its a bad thing, but they arnt the same band i fell in love with back in 1999

  • Comment removed

  • @slytown The thing you just gotta understand is "sell out" doesn't mean what it used to. Now it is just the label that outcast high school kids attach to a band when someone they don't like starts to listen to them too. If that outcast thinks he/she listens to "hard" music, the word changes to "emo"-- with the same definition.

  • @Chadgod The meaning of sell-out doesn't change because some high school kids don't know what it means, it doens't work like that.

  • @mashedperderders I was being sarcastic.. but actually, majority rule kinda does decide what a word means. Try saying fag to a homosexual sometime and see where it gets you.

  • I really like his comments at the beginning, different genres of music get so divided from each other but they're really all have so much in common.

  • dude these are hometown boys, they are special in this town.

  • I love listening to Jim talk, his ideas and philosophies are dead on. So simple, yet so right.

  • All the hipsters get pissed when theyre indie friends arent indie anymore

  • @Time4TheDeed

"...when their* indie friends aren't* indie anymore" If you're not intelligent enough to know how to spell or punctuate, then you probably shouldn't be labeling and judging people. (Especially ones who typically know how to spell and punctuate)

Also, I saw you got flamed on a couple of other videos...so...you definitely are in the minority on this and several other facts.

  • How can anyone say they sold out? They didnt make main stream radio...

  • what are the last two songs on this video? :)

  • @M4CK3R93 "Highly Suspicious", and ends with, 'I'm Amazed".

  • my friend spilled a slushy on jim james foot!!!

  • Love this band...wow!

  • this band expresses my inner feels and i try this music its what i write and play

  • Thank god for american dad or I never would of discovered this genius music.

  • lol this video makes seem like a bunch of hippies or the new beetles or something lol

  • I saw My Morning Jacket for the first time on Austin City Limits flipping through the channels you know, and was blown away holy shit balls.

  • The best music since TOOL. This is what the music industry monster needs to keep the filthy rotten hands off of....

  • @yermamma5 by god, another tool fan! you speak the truth

  • @yermamma5 exactly

  • REACT

    Pen is position opinion

  • serious'ly

    whatdathamah...

    hlp!

    !!!

    !!

    !

    .

  • Awesome band and this album is great to

  • I like them because they sound somewhat like my favorite band of all time, Pink Floyd.

  • @AverageBudgetFilms My Morning Jacket sure have some of the same ambition Pink Floyd did. But where these fellows have mined forty years of rock in their quest for range, Pink Floyd invented a sonic world from primal, original material. No one before or since took that kind of trip. OK maybe Stravinsky, but Pink Floyd had much more to say.

  • if you're stoned/drunk right now press 1

  • they are a cross between Floyd and Yes. if you ask my humble opinion. which of course, you didnt

  • what's the song at 4:58? neeevvverr heard my morning jacket play anything like that before

  • Highly Suspicious

-Only Song like it on Evil Urges

  • highly suspicious

  • @jmahan027 "Highly Suspicious"

  • whats the song that plays at 1:58

  • epiphany187: the song at 1:58 is called "Touch me I'm going to scream pt2"

  • wow, i never listen to music made past the early 90s, but i think i really like this band! ty american dad =)

  • you my friend are a fool if you dont listen to any of the great music that has been created since then. you probably depend on radio for your music if you arent aware of the vibes from today

  • well your pretty much right, i do listen to whatever m' Rock n roll station gives me. i find to much of out music to be Screaming or just Cursing with a drum machine.

  • radio sucks man..has its brief moments and thats only if you lisgten to a really alternative station...listen to ''wolf like me'' by tv on the radio...see if you get into them..also check out silversun pickups, phoenix, vampire weekend, older kings of leon stuff, mgmt, modest mouse, arctic monkeys first album, cage the elephant, passioon pit, tons of others!

  • ah! all the bands u named i love! great.you have good taste idk if i agree with you about music being the best now though.

  • Are people saying these guys are sell outs for bein on american dad? wow dude, how would anyone know? They just put them there cuz they like them, dont mean they sell out.

  • how would they be sell outs they just got more fame and fans i never heard of them before american dad and now i love them

  • Reminds me of Radiohead idk why o.o

  • i just wanna lay down in a warm bed and sleep like a fat baby.

  • Lil Wayne can't be a sell-out because he's never had integrity. All he ever knew was stupid nigger rap, and that's what he did. Then he annoyed the fuck out of me by picking up a guitar and calling his music rock. He annoyed me further still by making Beatles references in his music. So no, he isn't a sell-out, rather a stupid, annoying nigger banking on the fact that people are retarded and don't know good music anymore.

  • I agree with what you are saying. Although I like some rap, I hate lil wayne as well. I hate his music and everything about him. And I do not call his music rock , let alone music. But calling rap nigger rap is just as ignorant as lil wayne. Besides, some of the 1st ppl to create rock and roll with white ppl were black. So do we call some of the 1st rock nigger rock? So I agree Lil wayne and most rap is trash. Most music now adays is trash, saying nigger makes u more nigger than him

  • You should listen to the quote in the beginning about music not being as different to people as they persieve.

that being said, ..no music is trash. it is art! Being open minded about music, is better for your brain.

  • you clearly dont listen to the music thats around if you think music now is trash..music is better than it ever has been now. better than the 70s or early 90s combined

  • LMAO fosho!

  • Think about this...Music it art. If you make money out of it, then people will lick your balls, call you a sell out, or just plain love your music. If you can't make a living out of music, and you pursue it regardless, then you are a no good loser. What's is it? Saying "sell out" is for losers who feel high and mighty just putting people down. Just be genuine, even if it doesn't pay. As a musician who plays anywhere for free, if no one ever pays me, I will not quit playing. I would not.

  • This band was on American Dad

  • rofl.. i hate people that are into rock etc and that say when a band gets to commercial they call them sell outs :s

    fucking pathetic..

    So much jealousy..

..just enjoy the god damn music and go with the flow u gimps.

  • @Vleesball i do call bands sell outs, but only bands that actually sell out. that means giving up all the original bands style for commercial success. and there are bands that have done that (kings of leon, shinedown, for example.) don't judge us people who judge. My Morning Jacket is one of the greatest bands out there, and i don't think jim would ever sell out given his god like stature in the indie world...

  • @obamaman4president

"Don't judge us people who judge"...

heh...really? That alone warrants gallons upon shit-tons of heckling...

  • "Sold out"... this phrase needs to die, it's so lame.

  • i dont think the term "sold out" needs to die, i just think that people need to know the difference, lil wayne is a sell out, but just because a band is huge doesnt make them sell outs, its just when they start theming their music based on whats popular today

  • You can call them sell-outs when they jump the shark. Until then, they still rock.

  • oh ya i think this band is actually not bad

  • What are you talking about "the difference"? Having a record deal? Anyways, besides Lil' Wayne themes his music like what's popular today? Wow. Have you heard No Ceilings?

  • @JusteunMusicien the term "sold out" has it's place cough*Kings of Leon*cough... but it ain't MMJ, that's for damn sure. In fact, I praise MMJ for showing that it's possible to evolve as a band and NOT sell out.

  • i'm about ready for another record from mmj

  • I rather like these guys. They didn't try to conform to the "hipster" ideal that is rapidly somehow becoming mainstream, and stayed so original.

For some reason I had a little memory of the Flaming Lips listening to these songs.

  • i think bands that change to sell more records are sellouts but what MMJ did was grow as musicians which changed their sound.

  • YOU WRONG

  • no you ARE wrong, if you could speak English you would know that you need to add the word are in that sentence.

  • Alright, we'll be professional.

    Firstly;

capital letter at the start of a sentence.

    Secondly;

"ARE" isn't a group signified by letters.

    Lastly;

Use quotes when putting a word into another context.

I did it because it's more effective to annoy someone who things that this band is a "sell out". As the person in question is a stubborn, i'll to be an ass.

No need to be a prick.

  • TROLLSS!!!!!!!!!

  • i mean, this is the greatest banda of the 2000s, just look at their albums, this one is a very good one, but still my favorite is at dawn, which i recomend you to really listen

  • This band is amazing, not their best album though...

  • For the moment it think is their best..but i think there's a lot to come in the future

  • e one retarded my friend. and with this misuse of the word, you are retarded for processing the idea you had in the manner in which you did.

also "bands" don't have degrees. people do

also "degrees" mean nothing but that you got credit for paying for and attending, filling out and passing college tests.

please have some respect for the good of humanity and try to promote peace. and please educate yourself in the areas that you contemplate, whether of high or low importance to you. aceshigh4153

  • wow, I don't think making a comment on youtube qualifies as me disrespecting the good of humanity, and the use of your expansive vocabulary rendered it rather bombastic. Now you will probabally point out all my incorrect grammar and spelling errors, but all I want to say is people that try to sound as educated as possible usually end up just being stupid and just try and hide behind their vocabulary. But I do appreciate the respect given to me by not directly calling me stupid... thanks.

  • it does because humans view them.

also i do not try to sound smart, i just is...lol

also i dont see that i have an expansive vocabulary when compared to you even. son.

"usually end up just being stupid"......?... haha

..um roight. hahaha. what is your "usually" based on.

also, note i don't care much for "englishs" syntax.

i care for peace and happiness. i can tell i did well with my reach out. you seemed to take it pretty straight into your face like a good ol whoopin. lol.

  • anyway, my reason for making such a small deal out of this is that i care for every person on this planet. i'm sorry for being mean...:( im working on this. ... but if you are smart enough to see intent :)

which i think you are, you see that i love you and everyone else. so stop attacking people who don't need to be. lol especially when you can't back it up. you never know who'll call you out on the court.

  • Comment removed

  • i don't see how making love everyone's thing is bad.

also im sure that i didn't do much of making it anybody's but your and my other replier's.

also there is nothing wrong wth writing in anyway. politicians aren't bad fyi, bad people are.

preaching still.. is not bad. if you don't like it, don't support me. :) i can see that you and i would make good friends. mmmm... haha..mmmm acid

  • do yall ever masturbate? just curious. it doesn't mean anything yall just seem like the kind of people to ask.

  • well you fine somebody who doesnt....you be sure to let me know....and if your refering to the idiotic conversation that i foolishly chose to engage in with this fella...ya i realize it sounds like two kids who couldnt play nice together in the sandbox....all apologies...but i guess i could ask you the same question...being that you chose to read the comments ...just like i did and then chose to respond with meaningless conversation..just like i did..so may we both fill up buckets full !!! peace

  • "music isn't really as different as they think it is" this dude is a bumbling jackass.

  • no hes fucking right

  • He definatly isn't, he's saying the emotions are the same... ofcourse they are! the emotions are the same but the way they are presented and prtrayed are completley different. One guy wailing away into a mic is completley different then 5 guys all using their instuments to send that same message. He sounds like he should b on spinal tap

  • This has been my favorite band for years now-they are simply amazing-always changing-always a pleasure. Honestly-who else makes a song about a sexy librarian.??

  • sorry, you're probably the type who listens to green day and thinks they're politically correct......

  • I would say that you should (for the sake of everyone who might become dejected by your comment) keep your focus on things that you know well. And do not attempt to make statements like that.

Obviously you don't give a shit about much.

You exclaim that a degree qualifies you for what, freedom of speech. or no the freedom to say something and be what...accepted..is that it?

    Obviously many artists have degrees.

Choosing to not follow the linear lifestyle of our countless predecessors, does not mak

  • John Lennon was so political in his time. What's wrong with people or bands standing up for what they believe in? I don't think it happens enough.

  • that's a good point their's nothing necessarily wrong with it, it's just the fact that more times than not they don't really know what their talking about, or all their doing is complaining and not offering any solutions... which anyone and almost everyone does because it's easy

  • which is what you're doing.

    because it's easy.

also stupid people are stupid people.

    not "bands who speak out"

no matter what your vocation.. you can be an idiot.

it doesnt take being a famous rich rockstar with your own youtube videos and people talking about you for decades to be an ididot..

    hahahahaha

  • a degree in what though? I have a degree in Geology but I might not want to speak out about politics. Or if I did should it be geology related? I'm in an alt-country band
