I totally agree with this. I've got a story similiar to Roy's...I grew up watching KU basketball (several immediate relatives attended school there), then I went to KU freshmen year, and have now ironically transferred to UNC. I have nothing but respect for Roy Williams, he is a phenomenal coach.

I have a ton of respect for Roy as a coach and thank him for the 15 years of great B-ball he gave us, but honestly I think Bill Self is a better coach, which is why I can't understand why Hawks fans continue to criticize and Harp on Roy. I was glad Roy finally started winning championships he was so close here at KU. I graduated from high school with his daughter Kim and have nothing but love for the guy. Difference between us and UNC is that in our "rebuilding" year (I know it doesn't happen much at UNC or w/ Roy) we still competed and won our conference. This year has to be very very disappointing with such a good recruiting class. Might be headed to the NIT? No disrespect intended..
88-66, i though it was like 12, i was wrong. But a good case of our rebuilding year is 2006 after we lost all of our National Champions. We were expected to not make tournament and lose in NIT but made it all the way to the tourney with an overall record of 23-8. We usually Reload not Rebuild, unfortunately our talented recruits are not yet mature, we have struggled with 4 major injuries, and are averaging 17 turnovers a game. So we can be good in our off years too, just not this year.

I don't see why people feel the need to want to argue with UK, they just won't win when it boils down. Of course, we've had our fucked up seasons, what team doesn't, but we are simply ahead of the game. Right now, we have the perfect formula. I totally agree with this. I've got a story similiar to Roy's...I grew up watching KU basketball (several immediate relatives attended school there), then I went to KU freshmen year, and have now ironically transferred to UNC. I have nothing but respect for Roy Williams, he is a phenomenal coach.

Agreed. I'm a KU grad and a huge Hawks fan. I have a ton of respect for Roy as a coach and thank him for the 15 years of great B-ball he gave us, but honestly I think Bill Self is a better coach, which is why I can't understand why Hawks fans continue to criticize and Harp on Roy. I was glad Roy finally started winning championships he was so close here at KU. I graduated from high school with his daughter Kim and have nothing but love for the guy. I hope his team can rebound after this season.

Yet, the final score was 84-65 (I think, it was something like that), still a beating. I don't think you realize how good our team would have been last year if we had more players from 08 on there. Difference between us and UNC is that in our "rebuilding" year (I know it doesn't happen much at UNC or w/ Roy) we still competed and won our conference. This year has to be very very disappointing with such a good recruiting class. Might be headed to the NIT? No disrespect intended..

88-66, i though it was like 12, i was wrong. But a good case of our rebuilding year is 2006 after we lost all of our National Champions. We were expected to not make tournament and lose in NIT but made it all the way to the tourney with an overall record of 23-8. We usually Reload not Rebuild, unfortunately our talented recruits are not yet mature, we have struggled with 4 major injuries, and are averaging 17 turnovers a game. So we can be good in our off years too, just not this year.
