This is how badly the BTCC has fallen since the glory years of the late 90s huh? All the actually talented drivers gone, and the ones left feel the need to drive like little kids playing videogames. There's a massive difference between hard, close racing, and just barging people off and cheap-shotting. Sadly that's what the BTCC has been reduced to, although the 2011 season showed small signs of recovery.

Both crashes were just racing incidents. 1st one; Plato was simply maintaining his line (he made no turns), as he is entitled to do, neal was trying to get back on the track and turned across the front of him. It was hard racing but it was fair. 2nd one; neal went up the inside and made slight contact with Plato. Plato was running out of time and had to turn into the corner, unfortunately neals car was in the way and already slightly out of control. Nobody to blame, just 2 guys racing very hard.
Plato left room on the outside on way to bombhole yet he moved over and decided to put Neal on the grass and then continue to try spinning him, then Matt had the line into the final turn but Plato was way too aggresive and slammed straight into him, how Plato got away with it i dont know.

The first overtake by Neal is clean, Plato just does an average sore-loser move on him, and Neal catches it. Neal is then a lot faster to make up a distance in a really short amount of time. The next move, Matt expects Jason to move over, but Jason swerves into him just as Matt swerves in to take the corner. Then Plato cuts in and still wins.
It is quite funny because he thinks this is alright but when you look back to Oulton Park 1999, Thompson does something similar and Plato starts swearing!
i dont follow this series and dont know who these drivers are but by this footage Jason Plato is the worst driver i have ever seen. that was disgusting driving.

Whatever opinion you may have about who was at fault, you've got to admit, that save by Neal was nothing short of amazing. Gets the car almost 90 degrees sideways, saves it, and comes out right on Plato's tail. Astonishing. I wish we could see more racing like this over here in the States.
Why the hell should have Plato have to move off his line for the corner. Any driver can use the car in front as a buffer for any corner, but that doesn't make it right. Plato did shift out of the way a little (at 1.14). That's more than I'da done. Nice guys finish last in this game.
@moyadapne Plato (or anyone else) doesn't have to move off his line, but when drivers don't hold their line and swerve across the track blocking anyone behind them, then you eliminate the most exciting aspect of racing - drivers racing side-by-side. Instead of overtaking maneuvers, you get follow-the-leader pack racing interrupted by occasional wrecks. That's a major reason why so many series suck these days.

@moyadapne I disagree about Plato's swerving, in the first contretemps I think he protects the inside line then swerves back to the outside 'normal' racing line when he realizes that Neal wasn't going for the switchback. The 2nd incident - which I agree was going to end in tears no matter what - it's not so obvious. But watch the grass to driver's right, Neal keeps going to the inside and Plato is following, cutting off his line as they get closer to the corner.

People are being overly critical of Matt Neal for being agressive when Plato was abviously a lot slower, making his car as wide as posible and closing the gap just as agressively.

Over there years Neal v's Plato has been as entertaining as anything Senna v's Mansell had ever done before.
When "Health and Safety" take over and motorsport will be illegal I for one will miss it.
That is pretty aggressive defending by Plato, normally when a car tries to overtake you give them just room enough to get past you and then you try to out break or out handle the other in the next corner. But i must say that trying to overtake there were a quite risky.

Neal was getting aggressive while Plato kept going. Plato wasnt about to let Neal force his way by. Neal made a stupid choice to pass on the inside when there wasn't room expecting Plato to move over... then he bullshits saying Plato wasn't driving cleanly... HA! Neal, if you can get in on the inside with enough room, and Plato pushed you off.. then it was dirty. Instead look how Neal turned his wheel to force Plato over. Neal made contact and Plato held his ground. Good show Plato!
Neal had nowhere else to go intially. Much better drive than Plato so had to take the outside, but it was stupid of him to try and turn in on Jason heading down to the Bombhole. He was only ever going to end up spinning sideways. Again, i don't think the move at the last corner was out of order, but he placed himself completely at the mercy of Plato. It was a risk and he took it. The only person he can be upset is with is himself. Racing incidents. No real 'dirty driving' here.

Makes me laugh how Mr Plato seems to have a clean conscience when he pushes people about but gets wound up when he's on the receiving end. I'm not Matt Neil's biggest fan by any means but it seemed unfair on him but not as bad as when Rob Collard took him out at Paddock.
The first move is sort of forgiveable, but the second one was a deliberate attempt to take Neal out of the race. He turned in on Neal waaaay before the corner trying to spin him, and then took to the grass to take a shortcut...unbelieveable.

People are being overly critical of Matt Neal for being agressive when Plato was abviously a lot slower, making his car as wide as posible and closing the gap just as agressively.
"If you don't go for the gap then you're not racing" Ayrton Senna.
Over there years Neal v's Plato has been as entertaining as anything Senna v's Mansell had ever done before.
When "Health and Safety" take over and motorsport will be illegal I for one will miss it.

That is pretty aggressive defending by Plato, normally when a car tries to overtake you give them just room enough to get past you and then you try to out break or out handle the other in the next corner. But i must say that trying to overtake there were a quite risky.

Neal was getting aggressive while Plato kept going. Plato wasnt about to let Neal force his way by. Neal made a stupid choice to pass on the inside when there wasn't room expecting Plato to move over... then he bullshits saying Plato wasn't driving cleanly... HA! Neal, if you can get in on the inside with enough room, and Plato pushed you off.. then it was dirty. Instead look how Neal turned his wheel to force Plato over. Neal made contact and Plato held his ground. Good show Plato!

Neal had nowhere else to go intially. Much better drive than Plato so had to take the outside, but it was stupid of him to try and turn in on Jason heading down to the Bombhole. He was only ever going to end up spinning sideways. Again, i don't think the move at the last corner was out of order, but he placed himself completely at the mercy of Plato. It was a risk and he took it. The only person he can be upset is with is himself. Racing incidents. No real 'dirty driving' here.

1) Loads of overtaking ( believe it or not , if you say theres not enough overtaking u probably dont follow f1 enough )
2) Because of the risks the driver takes , putting their life at risk
3) Fantastic media coverage
4) Drivers experience high G-Forces

Makes me laugh how Mr Plato seems to have a clean conscience when he pushes people about but gets wound up when he's on the receiving end. I'm not Matt Neil's biggest fan by any means but it seemed unfair on him but not as bad as when Rob Collard took him out at Paddock.

The first move is sort of forgiveable, but the second one was a deliberate attempt to take Neal out of the race. He turned in on Neal waaaay before the corner trying to spin him, and then took to the grass to take a shortcut...unbelieveable.
