  • The founders attended church in the US Capitol building, wanted the Bible in schools (which continued for >150 years) and mixed church and state in countless other ways. Its absurd that they wanted separation.

The idea for the separation (as we know it today) began in 1947, and was a radical twisting of a letter by Jefferson. The letter was not even an official document, Jefferson was not even in the US when the 1st Amendment was written, and not ONE person present used that phrase.

  • separation of church and state just means that the gov't cannot recognize any religion in anyway, including that any religion is right....

it shouldnt be taught in schools because the gov't cant recognize it as true. but that doesnt mean that CITEZENS cannot practice this right (as long as they arent acting as a state authority)...essentially, the gov't cant recognize a religion ON STATE GROUND because they would mean they think its "right"

  • Neither are the words "Freedom of Religion", "Checks and Balances", "Right to Privacy", "Right to a Fair and Speedy Trial" etc...

The words aren't there but the wall of separation certainly is. The authors made it quite clear as to their intentions.

  • @Syrinx69 I would have to differ with you on several accounts: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF" 1st Ammendment. "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a SPEEDY and public trial, by an IMPARTIAL (i.e. fair) jury" 6th Ammendment. While the words, checks and balances are not written in the constitution, clearly the checks and balances are built in for everyone to see.

  • Jefferson allowed missionaries/churches to be funded on Native American lands as it was their land. Read Chris Rodda's book. No where does it say national religion or mean it. When VA created a xian state religion it was quickly overturned by Jefferson and others.

  • What a one sided history lesson. The AL judge drug the 10 monument in during the night. The words under god were pushed through in the 50's by xians and wasn't in the Pledge prior to then. Forced prayer is not in school but prayer is there if you want to do it anytime you want. Jefferson rewrote the bible, Jefferson bible, because the supernatural was ridiculous to him.

  • wtf is this shit. who cares what it said or how it even was used. the fact it religon should be kept out of government and not forced upon people, the fact that our pledge has "under god" in it would imply that the USA and its government belives god is real or that we are at the will of god or some other crap like that. Not to mention it wasnt added until the 50's.

  • Uh, Im going to have to disagree with you, TorBaesolai.

Jefferson was most certainly NOT Christian.

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

"Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies."

"Christian philosophy, -the most sublime & benevolent, but most perverted system that ever shone on man" -Thomas Jefferson

Those are just a few quotes. A drop in the bucket if you will.

  • It's amazing, the ways you religious people can take something, plainly and clearly written, with the most obvious meaning and intent, and try to manipulate the meaning to meet your needs and beliefs.

Simply because one attends a religious service, does not make them an irrational person.

Jefferson, seeing the obvious need, rationally made the decision to include it.

    Thanks, Thomas!!!

  • "A" religious service? TJ attended more church services during his life than many, if not most, Christians today attend during theirs! Only a lunatic can look at what has happened to people in American from 1962-2008 and claim life without Christianity is better. You've turned American into a moral cesspool. Human life here for many is as ugly as life in any third-world Godless country run by a despot. Grats! Nice work, Godless fools!

  • Doesn't really say anything to me. I've gone to hundreds of live football games and I hate the sport. My Dad just happened to have season tickets so I went to hang out with him.

It's funny that over 99% of prison inmates are "believers" of some religion..and less than a quarter percent are non-believers, atheists.

    Yea weird huh.

Have you checked the divorce rates among Christians lately?

  • Yea man just like the bible, you have absolutely no factual backup or proof to say that "you've" turned "America into a moral cesspool"..but you'll believe it anyway.

You religious folks have quite the imagination and to be honest, most of you are really mean spirited.

I hadn't mentioned a single negative element but your statement was filled with "Lunatic, cesspool, despot, fools"

I think it is your mind that is a very ugly place, turned that way by your "religion".

  • Thomas Jefferson attended more church services than most Christians today? Ha ha ha you must be the lunatic.

  • your statement at the end implies jefferson wanted the u.s. to be officially christian (albeit with no specific denomination of that faith). i find this highly unlikely since jefferson himself was not a christian

  • Find it unlikely all you want. Jefferson attended countless thousands of Christian church services during his life, and did many things as President which today would cause the moonbat crowds to suffer fatal strokes. Jefferson realized what today's "liberals" are too bigoted to figure out: that liberty functions better when people have a belief in something higher than themselves. Darwinism brings out the worst in people, not the best.

  • "Darwinism brings out the worst in people, not the best."

    How so, Scott?

  • thedrax: after checking your channel, I clearly was reminded of Jesus's warning not to cast pearls before swine. Enjoy Darwinism; maybe you'll even get to see Chucky "Cheeze" Darwin in Hell someday (though I doubt it; all the clues in Scripture point to Hell being a form of solitary confinement).

  • I always find it funny when people express contempt for Darwin. He was a scientist; he made observations and attempted to draw conclusions from the data. His theories have since been supported by DNA evidence and transitional fossils. They are only controversial among those who are too arrogant to admit that at least some parts of their religion's texts may not actually be true. Scottfreitas, are you also upset at Galileo for proving the Earth rotated around the sun?

  • Very nice video my friend. Thank you very much for posting it.
