Moe has much more interesting parts and thus is better drummer since he can write better music. BTBAM is a good band and is the reason were getting great progressive metal but they're still stuck in the past and use way to much generic guitar riffs and drum beats.

The depth and detail to the composition is incredible - very romantic. Lots of major key sections and multi staff voice leading, picardy thirds, fugue fragments...these guys are monsters. Then, Rody comes afterwards and adds mind boggling vocals to what are full-fledged instrumental tunes already... musiciangasm!

I listen to a ton of music, and if I had to choose the 4 bands that most make me want to improve myself musically on my guitar and form my dream band, the quartet would be Nevermore, Dream Theater, Metallica, and Protest The Hero. It's funny, because the first three have been together for over 20 years each, and they're all grown knowledged adults, while Protest The Hero is a young band, which I admire. These guys are nothing less than an inspiration.

If everyone is playing comparisons may aswell give it my 2 cents. The only band really similar to them is BTBAM, and I prefer PTH. I can see where you are getting at with the SOAD comparisons, they are both very alternative metal bnds with errtic song structure. But they sound very different and I wouldn't compare them.
DragonForce actually has quite some imagination.. I never listened to them until 2 days ago I decided to check them out.. I can't get into them cuz of the vocals and lyrics but you can't say they don't have imagination... they're super sick musicians actually but PTH is still way better
Guys, Protest the Hero borrows a LOT more from bands like SiKth an Dillinger Escape Plan than BTBAM.
This band rips SiKth soooooo hard. Still kickass though.

I listen to a ton of music, and if I had to choose the 4 bands that most make me want to improve myself musically on my guitar and form my dream band, the quartet would be Nevermore, Dream Theater, Metallica, and Protest The Hero. It's funny, because the first three have been together for over 20 years each, and they're all grown knowledged adults, while Protest The Hero is a young band, which I admire. These guys are nothing less than an inspiration.

@MotionlessGhost886 Not Jeff Loomis instead of Nevermore? I mean I love both bands, but as a guitarist Jeff Loomis is MUCH more difficult than nevermore's material. Look at Miles of Machines.

@likuidflaememan well yeah I enjoy Jeff Loomis' solo stuff to death and it's definitely more difficult and directly more talented than his Nevermore stuff, but I meant 4 BANDS, not 4 Solo artists. But Jeff Loomis is my guitar idol.

WOW! :O I should begin NOT to judge bands by one song. I've heard one song by this band before and thought, "What is this shit?" but I have changed my mind; they are actually awesome. Still, I like some other bands more (Dream Theater) but this is one of the best surprises ever.

i cant believe what i am reading on here this band is not better than system of a down they dont have nearly the amount of fans and musical ability as SOAD they are really good but they dont come close to the composure that SOAD has!!!

If everyone is playing comparisons may aswell give it my 2 cents. The only band really similar to them is BTBAM, and I prefer PTH. I can see where you are getting at with the SOAD comparisons, they are both very alternative metal bnds with errtic song structure. But they sound very different and I wouldn't compare them.

DragonForce actually has quite some imagination.. I never listened to them until 2 days ago I decided to check them out.. I can't get into them cuz of the vocals and lyrics but you can't say they don't have imagination... they're super sick musicians actually but PTH is still way better
