  • yes it was communist but not bound to fail... if only yugoslavia split to a more open society (after titos death) where you could be proud of your heritage (croat, serb, slovene etc) and also split the republics in yugoslavia based on regions NOT nations. ex. croatia would be: Dalmacija, Slavonija, Istra etc. AND have a new capital (build a new one) and not have it centred around belgrade... you would have a great unified country... I´m coming out with a book soon!

  • epic

  • I haven't spent much time on the subject, but from what I can gather is Tito held Yugo together for years! However, he was communist, and it was a communist country. It was bound to fail...

  • @TheAnimeStop it wasn't communist and all nations are bound to fail so the latter part of your comment isn't saying anything...

  • so long old friend, comrade Tito

  • History buried Tito and his useless Yugoslavia.

  • This wasn't a nazi song.

It's a German poem from the 1890's, used by the nazi´s of course.

But also recorded in english by Marlene Dietrich.

It's a song for the soldiers, no matter the band.

  • @nachingal

    I like it.

  • Tito was our friend ... Respect from Romania !!!

  • fuck america

  • @bakegosan86 fuck the west.

  • zasto je ovde nacisticka pesma?

  • @93pavlaka Objašnjeno je bar 5 puta do sad među komentarima, pogledaj.

  • Oddly enough, the Tito yugoslavian commitees did more voting than the nazis did making them better than they are. I still cant stand all out communism.

  • Supreme bullshit

  • GADDAFI RULES!!!

  • Anyone can tell me the name of that song?

  • @OmarcMgdth207 Song name is Lili Marlene....a Popular German Army song of world war 2 also copied by the english with an english version. a bit odd to put an german army song together with the funeral of a man who fighted the nazis

  • @DraPistols: Pogledaj ranije komentare.

  • All those people only turned up to make sure that sonofabitch is dead.

    Tito the loser

  • @nmt1969 FUCK U DIRTY CAPITALIST

  • Comparing to animals and the crooks in command now Tito was a saint

  • @heydrich10 I agreed and Yugoslavia was a nice country which you could drive past to other Europeans countries until after Tito's death and then all the sudden riots happened.

  • tito was a fascist / that is why lilly marlaine is playing.

kusturica was trying to show all hipocricy in the world.

tito regime was a regime of repression.

  • Tito is a criminal!!!!!!!

  • Zivio Tito he would have preserved the unity of Yugoslavia as well as the unity of Of the Socalist Union.and the Socialist Dream Unfortunately his dream was shattered and all the nations comprising Yugoslavia HAVE GONE THEIR SEPARATE WAYS THUS ALLOWING CAPITALISM AND national chauvinism TO BE PRESERVED. bUT THIS WILL CHAnge with the unity of the Socialist Nations.Long Live Tito

  • what the f***K is that usa[west] president doing there???....they are responsible for this break up on the basis of religious identity,creed,language...the americans fought the confederates, they dint not give the confederate their right or choose their own future did they...they defeated them in war & now its one state.all these massacres in Balkans would not have taken place.they took sides in the Bosnia Serb war which killed millions now Hillary Clinton is in Bosnia to win serb minority over!

Govorite šta hoćete protiv Tita, on je htio sve najbolje za vas, a vi ste uništili sve što vam je dao: slobodu, ponos, bratstvo, jedinstvo, mir, lagodan život, sreću....

Sad imate to što imate, ko vam kriv.

    SF/SN

    Živio drug Tito!!!

  • no one WILL EVER MAKE TO GATHER SO MANY POLITITIANS ON ONE PLACE TO COME TO THE FUNERAL OF ONE LEADER WHO WAS RESPECTED IN ENTIRE WORLD. TITO WAS POPULAR WORLD WIDE AND PEOPLE LOVED HIM!!!!!

  • @japkomienta, the song 'Lili Marleen' was a symbol of German occupation of Serbia and the destruction of Yugoslavia in 1941. The song is played in the film during Tito's funeral as an ill symbol of future destruction of Yugoslavia and wars that came afterwards.

  • Tito- the antiSerbian Hiter of the balkans

  • yugoslavia sucked. all the primitive countries just leeched off Slovenia.

  • @reallysecretusername go fuck yourself in neoliberal capitalism, if it still exist actually.../

  • @ZVEZDAjeZAKON long live Yugoslavia long live TiTo the Great!

  • just love it!! quite good movie! this scene is terrific!

  • the music is so ugly, cant they have chosen a better funeral song than this crap? I must tell, Kim Il sung has beaten this nationalist in funeral song!

  • It's not the funeral song, it's a clip from the film Underground. Read the description and previous comments, you are like 5th or 6th to make such mistake.

Tito wasn't a nationalist, he was a communist dictator.

  • @arven979

1st no, communists are not dictators

2nd tito was a nationalist communist (NaSo).....almost a nazi leader like the westerns.

  • Sorry, but he ruled in my country, so I know what I am talking about. Tito was the leader of Yugoslav Communist Party, and a communist since his youth and the leader of communist revolution against the nationalists. Communists are the greatest dictators since the ancient times, and there is no such thing as "national communist"... at least there wasn't in Yugoslavia.

  • @arven979

well haa, so we are brothers arent we then. i am a serbian, and i think you should search more about (NaSo), nationalist communist cuz it kind of exist in western countries today, it is a kind of a new ideology that i learned a few months ago. and no tito was a nationalist cuz he opposed to join in cold war and seccede SFRY to USSR. he tried to create his own titoism and people treat him as a naso, this is not my idea of calling him like that but theirs. but sad why u call him dictat

  • Now I understand. You do have a point.

All good people are brothers and sisters. :) If it were more good people, there would be no need for Heaven - we would already live in one. :)

  • also national communism doesnt exist in west at all but rather east, see Uzbekistan, turkmenistan, and kyrgistan along with the eurasian and pan russian movements which Putin to an extent is very much apart of.

  • @XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 Il Maresciallo Tito: la sentinella della Pace.

  • @XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 Il Maresciallo Tito: la sentinella della Pace.

  • jaa if he was one bit nationalist only the croats would have lovd him and everyone would have wanted him dead! everyone lovd him everywhere in the world even and he was most famous for this more than any other world leader ever! he was the most belovd leader this world has ever seen! tito was nothing close to being a nazi or nationalist. also westerners are not at all like nazis, if anything tho fascist would be the correct term! national communism did not exist till after the fall of CCCP!

  • TITO was a big man, make hes soul rest in peace.

Thank you for all you did and tryed to do for your people.

  • Tito, when people spoke about him a few years ago I thought they were talking about a parrot. Why a parrot? anyhoot, I was 10 when he died. Some hate him, some love him. But he can't do eitheri, hes dead.

  • Tito, only one word describes this man.. 'Faggot'

  • TITO = SHIT

    Tito je slavan

    Tito je komadant

  • tito i partija

  • rest in hell monkey creator

  • if anyone is monkey look yourself in mirror in morning

  • Please, no need for personal insults. Tito was a public person and a statesman, controversial also, and everyone is entitled to have an opinion about him, both fans and haters.

  • I dont mind comments from people of ex-yu commenting Tito, his struggle and political leadership, but when someone who never lived in Yugoslavia starts to insult someone who they never saw or heard then I become annoyed

  • Who are the people who came to Milosevic's and Tudjman's funeral? Why would they want to come to their funerals?

  • improper musical track.

I would better selected a yougoslav partisan song here.

  • Death to the Dictator ....

  • 1:39-1:44: Austrian s President Kurt Waldheim was there.

  • and Brezhnev, and Carter, and Thatcher, and Arafat and about hundred more...

  • Nazi song in background. This guy who posted this video apparently wanted to provoke someone.

You don't even know who Tito was.

    Shame on you.

  • 'The guy' who put Lily Marlene in the background is Emir Kusturica, this entire scene is from his film. :-/ And the symbolism is that Tito's death announced Yugoslavia's death too.

Lily Marlene is the song Nazis played in occupied Belgrade during WWII. Originally a love song popular with the Allies as well, but in Yugoslavia - a symbol of Nazi Germany.

  • Indeed,i agree with u!

  • This is not really a Nazi Song, I tell you.

Even the british Soldiers from the 8 Army in Afrika got the radio from Beograd on for listening this Song,

    Mir i Slobada !

The loosers of War are always the Peaple, anayway !

  • gde stavi ovo fasisticko sranje u pozadinu, leba ti?

  • which is the name of this song??? and who sings it?

  • Look on Comments page 5. ;)

  • 1:27 - 1:29 Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was there...

  • The biggest funeral in history...

  • Indeed...he really was loved by his people. There's another video in which they show a football stadium in which a match was about to take place, then they announce Tito's death...the whole stadium is silent except for the occasional cry of anguish..it's incredible...never seen anything like that before.

  • who is the lady at minute 2:12?

    thanks

  • Margaret Thatcher, then Prime Minister of Great Britain.

  • great pictures... the f.cking terrorist finally died

  • A true hero of the working class, and Partisans! Long live Tito! His name will live on in the minds of the Proletariat for centuries to come.

  • What is Obama now .. it was Marshal TITO ON .... took care for the people .. and today they are only selling state assets .. so that our successors do not have nothing!

  • on 1:26 is this erich honecker?

  • No, that's Sandro Pertini.

They do resemble each other to some extent, however...

  • "Comrade Tito We Swear to You, from Your Path We Will not Depart" !!!!

  • Few times has such a genuine love for a leader been seen. Josip Broz Tito was indeed a great leader and a great man.

  • Slavic people are so lucky that they had a Tito, but so unlucky that they can only have one Tito for a 1000 years.

  • Steta

  • Kako se ova pisma zove?

  • 'Lili Marleen', u izvjedbi Lale Andersen iz 1939.

  • Počivaj u miru stari!

  • Zdravo druze Tito, ponos tebi sam osta od pocetka rodena. Ja sam naucijo od tog covika dosta. Zalost sto je propala Jugoslavija opet radi facisma i gamadi. R.I.P Druze Tito

  • zivjeli comunisti fuck the haters yugoslavia was free country of all comunist countrys

  • alternative gaz road for europe = turquie in ue + end of yougoslavia !!!

  • Yugoslavia should reconsider becoming one nation. Member of Europe. US should not be allowed to play power games on our continent.

  • Or if you'd allow every nation to be independent, not everyone wants to live in Yugoslavia, it was quite awful actually.

  • mimu stare mame, čez hrastovski vrt,

tam je bajta, kjer bil boš zdej zapr't

  • TITO BOIA

  • Tito is shit. All the italians killed on the Foibe won't forget

voi siete sempre benvenuti come turisti.

thank you tito for cleaning the beatiful side of the adriatic from the colonizers and fascists.

the only thing to resent is leaving trieste. but we are quite happy with having dalmatia, istria and rijeka.

A hard comment.Triest is beautiful, also because mutlicultural.Dalmatia/Istria lost its Italian culutral component ... too bad...it would make them even more beatiful than they already are

  • infatti. Tito era da prendere solo a sputi in faccia e calci in culo. Altro che funerale.

  • long live tito

  • awe that was sad long live Tito!

  • RIP, Death to fascism, freedom to the people.

    Long live Yugoslavia!

  • TITO BOIA - TITO BASTARD

  • What is the name of the song?

  • "Lili Marleen", performed by Lale Andersen, 1939.

  • look at Ceauşescu at 1:28. I hope that motherfucker burns in hell.

  • Tito was respected by Italian people too. Our greatest President, Sandro Pertini, was there.

  • Jimmy carter was supposed to go but his people told him not to so Leonid Brezhnev wanted to come of as the better man and went.

  • i think jimmy was there...

  • I love Yugoslavia

  • Amazing video from an amazing movie! Added to favorites.

  • Why Marlene's song?

  • A Yugo-nostalgic symbolism in Kusta's movie.

The division of 1st Yugoslavia in WWII is presented with the Marlene sounds in the movie, and the Marlene song on Tito's funeral was but an overture of another war that was about to come and finally destroy Yugoslavia.

  • thank you, that's really interesting.

  • whose version of "lili marlene" is this? it doesn't sound like m. dietrich's....

  • The original German version by Lale Andersen, from 1939.

  • fidel castro was not at his funeral???

  • I love Tito and I will always love him.He is my only president, general and leader! All this what is happening now in Balkans is big shame!

DRUZE TITO MI TI SE KUNEMO DA SA TVOGA PUTA NE SKRENEMO!

  • tito boia maledetto, infoibatore infame !!!!

  • Tito is a best friend of Indonesian people. I can notice some world leaders in the video. 1:25 (Italian President Sandro Pertini), 1:28 (Rumanian Ceausescu), 1:29 (Jordanian King Hussein I), 1:31 (Syrian President Assad), 1:39 (UN Sec Gen Waldheim), 1:48 (US Vice President Mondale), 1:51 (Russien leader Brezhnev), 1:57 (Palestinian Chairman Arafat), 2:00 (West Germany's Helmut Schmidt) and 2:11 (British PM Thatcher).

  • 1:30 I think that's Hafiz al Assad, the former syrian president.

  • Yes, you are correct. It is him. Thanks. :)

  • Can anyone help collecting information about who's appearing in this video? Is that Ceaucescu at 1.28?

  • Yes, that is Ceaucescu. As far as I can recognize them, these are the statesmen that can be seen: 1.26 Sandro Pertini, 1.28 Nicolae Ceaucescu, 1.29 King Hussein (Jordan), 1.30 ? (any help would be appreciated), 1.33 King Olav V (Norway), 1.38 Kurt Waldheim, 1.46 Walter Mondale (vice-president of the USA), 1.50 Brezhnev, 1.57 Arafat, 2.00 Helmut Schmidt, 2.11 Thatcher, 2.15 Hua Guofeng.

  • Thank you!

Does anyone happen to what Serbs thought of Tito at that time (and now?) In Kusturica's film, the Serb partizans seem to like Tito very much.

  • Most of Serbs (as well as Croats, Slovenes, Macedonians etc.) in the country literally adored and worshiped him; pro-royalist Serbs (Chetniks) who mostly all ended up in emigration after the War hated him.

Today, people are taught that he was a communist dictator who crippled Serbian state and nation. Still, older people who lived during his rule speak fondly of him, because he is associated with times of peace and prosperity in a big, strong and respected country.

  • My Mother is a Serb who emigrated to Britain in 1968, she said that everyone loved Tito.

  • yes, everyone loved him.

  • 1.30 is Hafeez Al Assad of Syria

  • Mao Ze Dong was there but it is not in the video. It was the largest funeral in history by visiting delegations

  • Mao Zedong wasn't there. He died in 1976. The leader of China in 1980 was Hua Guofeng, and he attended the funeral.

By visiting delegations, it was the 2nd largest funeral in history. The largest was the funeral of Pope John Paul II in 2005.

  • great vid! wow, so many heads of state! thats rare footage and seeing all together its impresive!
