Thank you kindly for uploading this so we can share the kiss! I suspect the scene was deleted in some versions to make what happened next more ambiguous...but it's STILL ambiguous even with the kiss.
The kiss in this scene is not on the dvd...it cuts to Frobisher howling after Thatcher says maybe we should. The savages! Glad to find this. I thought they shot a kiss.
Silverknight16 has it more or less correct. Fraser and Thatcher likely had a romantic interlude and apparently this scene was recut a number of times because there were those in favor of leaving Fraser's final romantic allegiance up in the air. However, as you don't see Fraser and Thatcher in the next shot (only Kowalski is standing by the fire), it's pretty obvious what happened after the kiss.... Although, as it leaves it open to question the scene could have used something a tad more concrete
Oh, it's so awesome that you uploaded this! I don't believe these were in the original US broadcasts, although I can't check, because I just tossed out my videos because I have all the DVDs! Damn it! I remember Frobisher howling, and I remember the scene beginning with Fraser saying "Duty--" and RayK finishing "Barks" but I can't remember if there was a Thatcher/Fraser kiss or not. Anyway it's great to see.
So I take it I'm the only one that read that scene as, "Fraser got laid"?
I mean, the final bit of Frobisher howling with the wolves is a classic cinematic trick to signify something, er, else happened; similar to seeing a couple share a kiss on a train, and then seeing a train enter a tunnel, or some such. It's symbolism.
... Thats weird that they would remove it from the show. I've never even heard a *whisper* that there was a kiss in the final ep. All this time... But I do like the scene without the kis, it leaves it up in the air. If you don't thatcher! I don't!

But maybe I read entirely too much into it.

Thanks for posting that. American television had the gall to cut that out. The kiss was very satisfying and bittersweet.

You'd have to ask Paul Gross. :)
Maybe it was for time; maybe the scene was changed to be more ambiguous.

You're welcome. I think the only time it was shown was during the episode's initial broadcast on CTV.
