I'm a little confused... what kinda collision detection does the touhou series have? I swear you touched bullets plenty of times without taking damage! Or is there some other weird power or game mechanic or something that I'm missing... to explain that?

Touhou games traditionally have characters with hitboxes smaller than their sprites.

@Groudon128 The circle in the middle of Marisa is what needs to be hit by the bullet and it needs to hit it in the middle of both the bullet and the circle (the white part). Otherwise it is what is called a "graze". I linked to the wiki in the description if you want to read about it :)

which came first, this game or rrootage? cuz i played rrootage at least four or five years ago, it was one of the first games for ipod touch and iphone back in 1st gen when u had to jailbreak it to get games... just wondering, cuz the gameplay looks identical

@mrtheblr Touhou came loooong before rrootage. According to PCW, rrootage game out in April 2007. Embodiment of Scarlet Devil came out in June 2002. The first Touhou game, Highly responsive to prayers came out in August of 1997. I have heard of other "Shump" creators playing Touhou to get ideas so it is possible that rrootage got some inspiration from Touhou :)

Personally, I feel that this song isn't the best one for this boss.

Yes, this boss was extremely awesome, and the song; A badass compiliation of pure awesome. However, for a boss like this, I always felt that something with a higher tone of "OH GOD, IT'S FUCKING EVERYWHERE," would fit better, rather than the "Boom boom your death is nigh," that this song brings.

I play the games myself, and they're not as bull as you think. Compared to a CAVE game this is actually quite doable. As much as I am a guy that says never stop challenging yourself and reach harder difficulties, I would put a Touhou Extra Stage over a cave game any day, because if I remember correctly CAVE games are meant for arcades, and the logical reason for how ridiculously hard they are is because the entire point is to eat your money.
