i saw the 'skatalites' in sydney few yrs back and they played in the Basement, and i was right in front of the band, man what a blast! 4 of the originals were here, oh man they were good. vin gordon was one of the first members, most of them learn't musik at school, some wen to catholic schools and took up instruments, that is why Skatalites is one of the best bands in the world! they just jell together musically.
@star5928 yes I,Alpha Boys School in JA has given the world a number of talents,such as Rolando Alphonso,Don D,Rico.....people who really helped to cross and destroy boundaries between given "categories" in music,keepin their ears opened to different styles and comin from foundations rooted in jazz music...and most of all,they were all given special gifts,skills and inspiration straight from the Most High...when you listen to the music with open ears+heart,it cannot go unnoticed!
