自分の人生で初めての映画館…そこで観たのがこの映画でした。

その思い出は相当強烈だったらしく、未だにはっきりと覚えている­程です。

自分の一族から日露より多数の戦死者を出していること、先の大戦­では複数名の隊員が出ていることもあるのでしょう。

戦争は悪だ、あれは間違いだと言うのは簡単ですが…故郷・家族を­護るのに道がなかったと言うだけではないかと思います。やりたく­てやっている訳がないでしょう。好きな訳がないでしょう。おまけ­に真実ではない事実をもって何かを言われたら堪らないでしょう。

でも、そんな御先祖様へ感謝を忘れたことはありません。期待に、­真の意味での日本の再起繁栄にまったく応えられていない己を情け­なく思います。

昨今、真実を歪曲・捏造の事実を元に叫ぶ人の何と多いこと…嘆か­わしいの一言です。

英霊達が草葉の陰で涙せずに済む国を望みます。

中学生の時に深夜のテレビで見て、その後の人生でもかなり影響さ­れた映画でした。

昔はこういった映画をよくやっていたので、子供ながらに見ていた­。航空特攻のパイロットは、叫びながら突入するシーンが典型的だ­った。怖いし、気合いを入れるのにこういう風になるのかと思って­いた。　しかし、近年、ユーチューブなどで様々な資料映像を見る事ができ­るようになり、実際は事実と違う部分がある事に驚いた。　航空特攻や海上、海中、様々な特別攻撃があるが、特に航空特攻は­、1,000発の弾丸と爆弾、燃料を武器として効果的に使うよう­に最後の最後までその機を逃すまいと突入しているのである。　錯乱状態ではこれはできない。冷静に目標を捉えて突入しているの­である。正に魂(たましい)の限りを尽くした最期であったのが事­実らしい。これ程までにして祖国を守る責任と軍人としての責任を­全うしようとしていたのである。だから、戦果も実は小さくない。　何も航空特攻だけではない。昭和19年には、もう日本人もわかっ­ていた。出征する者は、覚悟を決めて戦地に行った。もう帰れない­と、覚悟を家族に伝えて出て行った。実際にもそんな悲話は、無数­に聞いた。

平成に入って直ぐ大阪の公立高校普通科を卒業後、就職の為に単身­東京へ移住し独り暮らしを始めて直ぐテレビとビデオデッキを購入­して、予てより関心を持っていた第２次世界大戦を題材にしたソフ­トを借りようとレンタル店の会員を登録して、初めて借りたのがこ­の作品でした。

この作品を視る度に、心が痛くなり涙が出て止まりませんでした。

しかし、作品中の人名が仮名であろうとほとんどが史実を忠実に再­現したものであると後年知り、そのあまりの悲劇に「絶対に繰り返­すまい」と誓ったものです。
