What a phenomenal piece of propaganda these are. Frank really knew what he was doing when he made these. He knew what angles to play, what stories to tell, what footage to show.

I watched this KNOWING what propaganda it was and what the motives were and at the end, even I felt all moved and patriotic. When I stopped and thought, oh my gosh. Even I "fell for it!" I'm so intrigued to study propaganda used by governments during war.

Ye and 17 September Russians attacked from the back. So Poles fought on all borders. Against the 4 million soldiers and equipment... Russians and Germans had a four-time advantage. No country could oppose. Even the French have been defeated by only Germans. Well our dear allies failed... they suck. France has not attacked the Germans when they attacked Poland... That;s why war lasted six years rather could end up in one year.

Most people don't realize how hard the Poles fought. They put up a terrific and brave defense. Having the Soviets "pile on" just added to the horror and travesty that the brave Poles endured.

they tried to defend their borders, instead of easier to defend position in the backlands.

Also of course the Luftwaffe made most communication and redeployment an impossible task - but the polish tactic speeded the loss of poland.

@randy109 - Poland lost close to 6,000,000 people during that retarded war. Germany lost ~60,000 soldiers during the Polish campaign. Hitler never forgave them for that.

Jews were not allowed to join the Nazi Party. Anyone making that claim is a complete tool and has never bothered to read the actual writings of Hitler or the other Nazi leadership. To join the Nazi Party one had to show they had no Jewish blood at all going back several generations which is a great irony as Hitler had a Jewish grandfather.

Yeah I am going to trust my ancestors over some American... the German Army fought for the Nazis, there were many Jewish people in that army that worked as guard for the Nazis, I use the term "Nazi" to describe the all that played a role in destroying a nice place. My ancestors didn't vote for Hitler at all. Bavaria never trusted Austria and Hitler came from there.

As Churchill once said, if the devil were to join in an alliance against Hitler, I should find a few complementary things to say about Hell. The West needed the Soviets to fight on against Hitler and so they ignored the things they knew and soft pedaled them to the public. But having the Russians fight the Nazis bled the Germans and allowed the West to destroy Hitler. It was sound military strategy.

The British and American did no effort into convincing Russian to stop the invasion of Finland. Because in the end .. They needed the Russian.. As they were fighting the Nazis.. So upseting Stalin wasnt the wisest cost of action..

nov. 30th the soviet union invades finland......april 6th treaty signed ending the war in finland......at this time the americans complained to the russians but usa was still in an isolationist mind frame and not even a member of the league of nations yet. yes the french and british drew up plans for supporting the finnish with troops and munitions. the plans were never carried out

Actually the Russians invaded from the east, the non-aggression act included the seperation of, and splitting of Poland between the Russians and Germans. Poland was raped by two animals.

At the time the Poles were invaded by the Russians and Germans, the USA was still officially neutral. It was over 2 years later that the US entered the war. But you are correct that the USA and Britain bled the Russians white before opening up the Western Front by invading France. That was a very sound military strategy btw. It killed a lot of communists and Nazis and left the USSR too weak to attack the West which Stalin would have done if he could have.

Also eitier way The Soviets wanted USA to open a 2nd front.. It was part of their Allies agreement.
