You can do what you are referring to and a few do that but it lowers the nutrient density of the feed and provides more variability. They prefer to store corn separate from the forage so they can be very exact in the diet mixture.
could you use a picker head on the forage harvester and mill the corn with the forager? I know you would get the leaves from the cobs and the middle but it would save some work from the combine and the mill
