@Wabefuhon I've been doing that actually, but I spent so much time driving the cars that I didn't realise that they were going a bit slow... ...hmm. I've been wondering whether to finish and release the project at all! We'll see.
@fleshmannn It is a bit basic. I have rigged up a full car with steering, but the time it takes to actually "drive" them around the circuit is quite painstaking. It looks a bit more realistic than these, but shows my poor driving skills up!
@efeeryilmaz In this example, I just used the walls of the track to control the direction of the cars. It is a little basic, but it works fairly well. Of course, if you wanted to be clever, you could make the walls invisible to the renderer or delete them and then the cars would appear to race around the circuit on their own!
I used the tutorial from Micemincer to make the cars and then the rest is just making the geometry for the track. I like to sprinkle in a little interest when designing the track, like some jumps and stuff, but it's all pretty basic stuff. If you look back at Toy Car Test 1 and go through the video clips up to Toy Car Test 6 then you'll see I try to add something new to the scene each time and improve the scenery. It's just spending a bit of time modelling patiently!
@JimmieJohnsonrules Actually, you don't need to make the cars! There are several good websites that have free models (for non-commercial use) and you can also download and convert models from the Sketchup Warehouse. I just made a very low poly proxy as my reactor model to keep the calculation time down.
No, the cars are available for free download all over the net. The simulation is not created with the hi-poly models as it would take too long to solve, so I created super-low poly versions for the sim and replaced the meshes with hi-poly for rendering.
make the course mour DANGEROUS

There's quite a lot that I should add to each scene. I'm slowly adding more to each one as I make them.

what game ^^ ?
konrad12xpl 2 years ago
Back in the 90's there was a game called "Stunt Racer" for the Acorn in the UK. They had a vertical track hammer, I made mine rotary instead.
nezumidesigns 2 years ago
^^ there is also new game similar to "Stunt Racer" and its callec "Crashday" you can see one video of this game on my profile :)
