Wow, I was surprised it was Chris Matthews rather than Alan Grayson who defended the word "liberal". Just got a little more respect for Matthews and a little less for Grayson.
Liberal, progressive are good words, they represent the logical commonsense of the people. On the other side, what you call them, they represent emotion (hate, anger, fear).
Not really, liberals have a huge neocon side of them that makes them just as bad as the John McCain republicans, The Obama adm has countinued the most evil neocon policy. The only good use of the word liberal is the 18th century version, the Thomas Jefferson liberals.
Totally agree, we are the true liberals. The ones who want freedom and tranquility.
"They stole it from us" - Gollum , thats what the neocons did to disguise their identities, they parade around as liberals but are really just the same old European empire worshipping aristocracy.
Obama favors war, a liberal policy, he is hard on social issues, a liberal policy, he favors Kenysian economics, that is what modern liberals are. I could name almost all of the same for Conservatives, there is very little difference between the two parties. Conserv and Lib mean little anymore. Center is even more of a laughable designation.
Now THAT IS CHANGE I CAN BELIEVE IN HAHA!!! Even if they did vote him out in 2010 he will be back somewhere I BET!!! Republican party is going to split in a few years NRNC and the CRNC I bet.. The normal RNC is getting tired of those death panel nuts..
Finally somebody thinks KUMBAYAH is a waste of time dealing with these right wing religious wingnuts--Obama needs to take notes--and Grayson is looking more like Biden/Kennedy's replacement.
There are no callous on knuckle dragging Republicans, because callous require WORK, not just disparaging comments.
The death panels are run by for profit insurance co's--they're incentivized by bonus to deny you care for ANY reason.
the GOP actually expects him to back down after all the praise hes gotten? keep going grayson these morons cant do a thing to you this is america and in america and in america the voice of the people should be able to speak louder than the voice of the lobbyists because greed & money is a cheap material incentive compared to passion and altruism.
A sane politician! Adam rules! Any politician who votes against the best interest of the American people in order to curry favor with corporations/or protect their seat, should be voted into oblivion!
The unfortunate thing is this guy is from central Florida.
I was surprised when I saw that was his district, and in this interview he confirms that it is a traditionally republican district.
So there's a good chance he might be replaced, but kudos to him anyway-why don't the reps from California and the east coast do this kind of stuff more?
zndprophet He WON in Central Florida.. look at the cup half full instead of half empty .... people are fed up with GOP and Blue Dogs in Central Florida !!!
Maybe because he has guts? I dunno. Sometimes, people can be bipartisan. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, for example. He's the Republican governor of an overwhelmingly Democratic state, California.
Of course, people don't like him too much now since California is in a bad deficit. But his people seem to have an influence on him, making him liberal enough to support the Public Option, unlike Grayson who's not be conservatized.
Good for Chris for saying "liberal". Yes it is a good word. Definition: a. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox , or authoritarian attitudes, views or dogmas; free from bigotry. b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behaviour of others; broad-minded.
i haven't understood obamas concern over healthcare. he seems to be talking from both sides of his mouth about it. i think that baucus is a prick, and i think that folks like grayson and weiner are very honest and upfront about everything
I agree but this all too early Grayson has nothing to loose right now he's only been in congress for eight months or so, he has nothing to loose and everything to gain. He may change his tune after he's been at it for a while.

We know who Obama is now.
We know we're in big trouble.
So get ready. Things could get very bad.

"The Obama adm has countinued .."
Who calls Obama a liberal, besides right wingers?
Obama is right center, blue dog light, not anywhere close to progressive or liberal.
If you don't know that, you are not paying attention.

In 3 or 7 years this man will be on a Presidential Ticket!
We need a LIBERAL, with the balls of FDR or Lyndon Johnson.

Obama is trying to make nice with a dog frothing white foam at the mouth because it has rabies.
He's trying to be friends with that republican dog!
The republican dog has 1 thought, for Obama to get close enough so it can tear his throat out.
Mr. President stop trying to pet the republican dog!
It dosent want to be your friend!

that didnt make any sense

nafaidni: "Maybe because he has guts? I ..."
Nobody voted him for being a republican. They voted him for being a movie star.
People voted for him got their wish, the disaster.
The governor is till popular only to those don't know the situation in California.
There are already a few Repub. starting to campaign to replace him for the primary, which is not common for the incumbent in the same party.
