I wish all directors were required to act as frequently as possible. It is easy for them (many but not all) to forget that they often demand actors to produce things that they (directors) are incapable of producing.
@littlefatbuddha i agree a director must be sensitive. but also i think that a directors own ability as an actor is not really relevant to their directing. some of our greatest directors acknowledge themselves as failed actors - finding that directing is really a different kind of artistry more suited to them. This does not mean of course that they should not be intuitive to the limits of an actor though at times don't you find, what we think are our limits, they know not to be so?
