@pghalcrow the 96-98 COBRA,s were factory limited to 155 mph, and it will do that. That is with the factory 3.08 or 2.78 rear-end, depending on year and options. It also only weighs 3393 lbs, so with a gear swap to 3.55 or 3.73, these cars really haul a*s! Really, traction is more of a problem. And a SCT tuner solves the spedo problem. I ran a 13.9 with mine in Ohio (well above sea level) 100% stock with regular all season street tires. 160mph? Absolutely!
@J20M10R a sct tuner will not fix the speedo in these cars they are not electronic. and the stock gears are 3.27 in the rear which really holds the car back. thats why i went with 4.10's. i ran a 13.3 with my mods and shitty traction. i have one video of my car oin my channel if you want to check it out and yes 160 is very easy to attain in these cars, when i had 3.73 gears i go ti tup to 146 and it was still pulling(gps verified).
@TheBopop I am nearly certain that my 96 COBRA had a 3.08 gear. My 2001 COBRA has a 3.27 but feels a little peppier despite being heavier. Perhaps its the TR-3650. Regardless, the SCT tuner would work on my 2001 COBRA, not that I have switched gears or tried it. I am pretty sure I could hit mid 13's on it, with my only upgrade 275/40/ZR17's in the rear.
just doing a little math here... you were going over 100 mph for almost a minute. if you were going exactly 100 for one minute you would have gone 1.67 miles... but you CLEARLY exceeded 160... from what i could see from the tach, you didnt go more than 2 miles. it only goes from 61-62 (im not sure how many tenths though). just saying... shouldnt you have gone farther than that?

@dkill429 Props to Ford for building a 5.0 outputting that kind of power and for excellent competition with Chevy, but even though the Camaro is rated at 14 more hp and 1.2 more liters, there's still no replacement for displacement. Start building up both of those motors and the 6.2L will come out on top in the long run. Not that it matters to me because I'm an import fan...but just saying.

@themetz21 A 6.2L DOHC would make bout 520hp stock.Thats pretty much 100hp more than a ss camaro 6.2L ohv.I got the 520hp figure by takin 84hp and multiplying it by each liter desired.The reason im using 84 is cuz thats what most DOHC engines make per liter. 6.2L x 84hp/liter=520.8hp.most to all of chevy 4 and 6 banger's use dohc.but yes youre right,chevy likes big v8 pushrod engines.chevy will have to give up the pushrod before too long.it doesnt get near the gas mileage as dohc engines do.

@themetz21 A 505 hp 427ci ohv z06 is the only pushrod I would have.sounds VERY different than most pushrods.got the most wicked sound of any ohv engine I think,with exhaust upgrade of course.GTO and SS Camaro sound way different.not as good to me. 6.0L GTO and SS Camaro sound kinda run of the mill.dont get me wrong,they sound killer.But not as cool as a z06 427.I think the gas mileage issue is what will do away with ohv.A small dohc v8 can make the hp of a big ohv v8 but with better gas mileage.

@themetz21 The ohv engine may be around for 50 more years but the small dohc engines are puttin the pressure on pushrod engines.the 2011 412hp 5.0L dohc GT makes damn near the same hp as the 6.2L 426hp SS Camaro.thats 1.2 Liters smaller,but the hp is damn near the same.Now thats pressure.You know,I like that there are many different kinds of engines to choose from.nothing like being the underdog and coming out on top.It would suck balls if everyone had the same engine.so more power to ya dude

@dkill429 Props to Ford for building a 5.0 outputting that kind of power and for excellent competition with Chevy, but even though the Camaro is rated at 14 more hp and 1.2 more liters, there's still no replacement for displacement. Start building up both of those motors and the 6.2L will come out on top in the long run. Not that it matters to me because I'm an import fan...but just saying.

@Mesarina where do you get this shit from man? Yeah saleen modifies Mustangs. As i said earlier they dont swap any engines. its not worth it man... an engine swap is a 5000 dollar minimum project. Your much better to just start with the GT obviously. Saleens trademark stripes started long before 03. Saleen would modify a cobra for a customer starting in 1996 although it was mostly just suspension and body work.

Simple reason for mustang over vette is the stang is much more livealbe everyday and has a way better interrior for me

I have a 2001 SALEEN
SALEEN Mustangs start as a GT. they show GT on insurance also. Basically if you just buy a saleen s281 your just paying for looks and some shocks and struts, if you get a supercharged saleen they just throw on a rootstyle blower and diffrent intake but if you get a extreme all forged. @collinsworth1982 to each his own, thats what I know about Saleens, i already know one is dohc, the other is a sohc, that there is a teskid block cast in italy, then romeo, and windsor, etc... do you know why 99-04 Saleen mustangs doesn't have a gt badge on the fenders? because it started as a v6 Mustang, they put a v8 in there, bodykit, suspension etc.. before you could see some 96-98 Saleen Mustangs with the gt badge, because they started as a gt., search for some Saleen 4v, there are some too

@Mesarina and @collinsworth1982 u both know about mustang's as much as a monkey all saleen mustang's are gt base model with suspention and breakes and some of them with a supercharger on it the non S/C have only high flow intake saleen custom exhaust and saleen custom pulleys and the S/C from 96-mid 01 they have a eaton supercharger and mid 01-04 a whipple and they did put saleen bodykit on a cobra some 96-98 99-01 and 03-04

@Mesarina 1 no saleen never bothered to swap engines in the SN94 cars. An owner might have but saleen sure as hell never bothered. Owners could buy upgrades to the V6 but it wasnt something that sallen did or made packages for... the Saleen badge found itself on the backs of GT and Cobra mustangs.
