  • Well I'm american and been rocking the streets since album one. Mike is one of the best, but from what I seem to be reading you place him as the best. And sorry, hes up there but talib kweli, mos def, lupe fiasco, del tha funkee homosapien, and some like artists are just on another level. But mike is up there.

  • never really listen to UK music but this shit is RAW as fuck

  • classic

  • This is about as real as working class britain can be described. I`m 16 and things are really hard right now but I`m not gonna go out there and loot or turn to drugs `cause it won`t help. Everyone`s going through shit but all we can do is try and stay positive.

  • So poetic, so touching. This track is beyond words...

  • damn i got to say being from america thisshit is hot

  • @GordenBrown3D why do you compare everything to America? you're sad. and America has underground music as well as English people do.....we have poetic rappers....asshole.

  • The best part about being English is that our music isn't fucking shit and tacky, its 99% of the time full of depth and truth. American music 99% of the time is quite the oposite.

  • Any of u got instrumental of that beat ?

  • Ghostdog ?

  • Tune xD ... Badjam from memories tho :'( ..

  • Kidulthood xD brill film :) Stay positive !

  • I'm a person who struggled with addiction and a bad outlook on life. I lived in poverty with people who had no goals or asperations. This was around the time this song came out. At the time this song meant a lot to me.

Now I'm married with a mid level management job in a financial institution earning good money. This song still means a lot to me.

Just stay positive and organize your twos and threes into a run and you'll have f'd him son.

  • i did,nt really rate the streets till i heard this track, now i think there great, just trying to stay positive.

  • reminds me of my journey to school back in year 9

  • maggots!

  • YOUTUBE BEEEEEF!!!! 8-p

  • @oxygeninduced You're clearly a blindly pro-American American.... If anyone says anything EVEN SLIGHTLY anti-US, you pass it off as 'dumb' and 'retarded' with absolutely nothing to justify your opinion other than the fact that SHOCK HORROR, you are American.... Your mob cant be the best at everything and The Streets are just one example of it.... So take your flag and crawl back into your hole and leave this discussion to people who have a sense of humour or can at least back their arguments

  • auralconcepts: Wow first of all I'm sure that you've listened to quite the repertoire of US "rap". Immortal Technique. If you like it so much move there or stfu. Tool.

  • Every word Mike Skinner says is about the majority of the UK

  • The difference between America and England is America have 'The American Dream' where everyone can achieve everything and the world is your oyster... 'the land of opportunity' and all that..... The English dont have this.... because we are awake!

  • @DeejayVillain haha

  • @DeejayVillain Awake and very clearly retarded.

  • @oxygeninduced great comeback... really world class! ;-)

  • @DeejayVillain It was an observation I made based on your uneducated and completely made up viewpoint.

  • @oxygeninduced Well, thank God I quoted a stand up comedian then! Otherwise I would be frightened that you might take it seriously!!

  • How about we all just stay positive? :)

  • FUCK AMERICA UK HAVE MORE SENCE BEACUSE AMERICANS ARE ALL LAR DI DA AND UK IS A HARD COUNTRY AMERICANS SUCK COCK

  • 5 years later, still fucking brilliant.

  • Fuck Kidulthood. Fuck thumbs up.

    Mike Skinner is a poet.

  • Mainstream rap in America is shoved down our throats by the record labels and the industry. If you think the United States doesn't have intelligent emcees then that's because you aren't intelligent enough to find them. CunninLynguists, Jedi Mind Tricks, Grieves, P.O.S., Immortal Technique, R.A. the Rugged Man, Nas, and HUNDREDS of others. UNDERGROUND rap and hip hop is nothing like the shit that Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa put out.

  • i love this track!!!!

  • Thumbs up, cause i'm trying!

  • @BadManCams If you like streets you'll love this mate /watch?v=PbcM0V5O_C4

  • This is in my top 2 songs to listen to when im depressed or pissed off, Along side hakuna matata :L :D

  • ouai ouai bon son

  • He may have been a troll, either that or a moron. None the less, he's gone

  • "how im i supposed to be positive, when i dont see shit positive. you know what im sayin?"

    -Eminem

  • @BlackHAwkdOwn2983 such a good song.

  • I´m punk and I love the streets

  • respect to BC - BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE

  • america is full of dumfucks especially the kids

    i live in detroit

  • @wizman02233 Ah dude I'm American and am a kid. I'm not a "dumbfuck".

  • @Hipetyhop12 everythings about u rite ? if i say the world has some homos im talking about u rite?

if im crying in my room cuz someone raped me im talking ...about u....rite? aall of wat i just said specificly meens u are a dumbfuk btw

  • @wizman02233 Am I talking about homosexuals or you crying for getting raped? No I'm not. You said that America is full of dumbfucks especially the kids. And as a kid in America I felt I had the right to say that I'm in fact not one of them, since you said, once again, that America is fell of dumbfucks, especially the kids. Why don't you get your facts straight and go back to second grade and learn how to spell. Bye :)

  • @Hipetyhop12 yet again u are a dumbfuck BECUZ u FELT tht u had the rite to make it sound like its about u BY saying im not one of them THERE FOR making it about u n expressing ur rite to do it over the interenet on a video of a gay british rap and still criticize my typeing wen u full on know tht im a fine typer and smart person just dont giva fuck about myy spelling on a fjsgwudckvideo BIOTCH

  • @wizman02233 Yeah, okay, you go ahead and keep thinking that buddy. And I don't think the rap is gay, I happen to like it thank you very much. But, to each his own. Lol dude I don't know you. From my perspective you seem uneducated and are a horrible typer. And I repeat, go back to second grade and learn how to spell. Wanker. Also it doesn't take much brain power to actually spell correctly, just saying. This is fun :)

  • ive said enough i win this one bitch

  • @wizman02233 No, I'm pretty sure you haven't. Please don't speak if you can't speak intelligently.

  • @ORawksly well said m8... im not american but he is a dumb fuck i didnt understand anything he just said lol he is a jeb shit :P

  • My friends kinda stabbed me in the back this week. this track is on repeat after since. fuck it.

  • this track and indeed the whole album it is from (original pirate material) has got me through some really hard times in my life addiction, marriage breakdown, death of a child, sadness and depression.

This track in particular spurred me on to think "fuck it" these are the cards I've been dealt in life, let's make the most of our short time here and enjoy every moment. quote

I still remember where I was and what I was doing the very first time I heard the title track from the album.

  • respect to BC

  • 51 people aint feelig it, so be thankful things are cool in your world

  • @RuudGeboers

there's no doubt that Mike Skinner is a talented individual, but in my opinion, the boys from bloc party have been the best to come from the UK in the last 7 years.

  • @renananaful

skinner is the top 3 from UK-they are like in the top 15

  • this song has helped me through so much

  • @tumblrlover lol .... drama

  • This is the song thats playin when the girl killed herself in kidulthood

    Such quality films!

  • life

  • I'm 41 years old, live in the US, don't do any drugs... and I love his work. How is it that everything, even "rap" in the UK is more intelligent than in America?

  • @auralconcepts because people in the UK have intelligence

  • Comment removed

  • @auralconcepts I think it's because over here the majority of people won't except B/S and hype . . . so they just keep it real . . . no need for the Bad Ass Gangsta BS . . . !!!

  • @Paulh121 I agree. Americans have a lower expectation, and when less is expected, less is delivered. Instead of setting higher goals and expecting students to perform to those standards, we have dumbed down out society, setting our expectations to match the lowest common denominator so that everyone's a "winner." This paradigm has absolutely NOTHING to do with real life, where the workforce is competative and resluts are demanded. Fortunately, there are some who outperform the system.

  • @auralconcepts thats just wrong. there's lots of intelligent hip hop in america. you just dont know of it. fuck off you fuckng old man hater, suck my dick.

  • @keir193 You are a perfect example of the stupidity that swirls around MOST (not all) American "rap", like a turd swirling around a toilet drain. Your complete inability to respond without resorting to the typical, ignorant "f*** off" just proves my point. The Brits ARE smarter than us for the most part. They READ. They value an education. What do American rap value? Gold teeth, neck tattoos, spinner rims and welfare checks.

  • @auralconcepts wow, you don't know shit. i say fuck off because its youtube. and i dont wanna waste twenty minutes typing out a concise argument. and you call me stupid without knowing me, you dont know shit. and dont say US. im not fucking american. im canadian. and i read every day, i am trying to get my high school diploma, after messing up in high school and falling to the streets a little bit. don't judge me you idiot. those rappers are i the mainstream because you americans CHOOSE them .

  • @keir193 And trust me. I'm in the business. I see it every day. There is some intelligent hip hop in America. But you have to look far and wide to find it. For the most part it's just gansta wannabes and ignorant thugs who sound like they have a mouth full of marbles when they talk and can't complete a sentence without saying, "know wh'm sayin'?" They speak, write and act on a third grade remedial level. Artists like Russell Simmons, Ice T and LL Cool J are the exception, not the rule.

  • @auralconcepts

Don't agree with you there. I'm from London and I'd say there's definately more intelligent American rappers. Most British rap is just as bad as American rap, but America has more exceptions. In England most rappers are like Giggs, Dizzee Rascal, and all the other idiotic grime artists, just like in America most rappers are like Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne. But while the only British exceptions are Klashenkoff and Sway, America has people like Nas, Pig Pun, Fashawn and many others.

  • @Rumpleskins Won't argue with you there. You would honestly know better than I. It's just that I see so much of the bad stuff over here and have only seen the quality stuff from the UK. However, in general, you guys seem much better educated and cultured than we Yanks. You know your history, your literature, etc.

  • @auralconcepts maybe u'r listening the "wrong" rap? there's also very intelligent stuff made in the US ;) what about Jeru the Damaja, Afu-Ra, Nas, Cormega and such?

  • @auralconcepts I'm [ashamed to say] American and I don't know a ton about the UK but on the whole Americans are dumber than a LOT of other countries.

  • @auralconcepts You just haven't heard the right music. I can tell by your comment that you think the only American "rap" songs are the ringtones they play on KISS FM. Look up Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, P.O.S, Cecil Otter, Solillaquists of Sound, Living Legends, Aesop Rock, El-P, KRS-ONE, MF DOOM. Mos Def for fuck's sake! All are incredible artists, and are far from unintelligent.

  • @auralconcepts cuz we a more inteligent race u yanks are fuking weird!!

  • @auralconcepts

Sadly, this is not true. I have an idyllic ideal of America but I suppose that this ideal is false.

  • @auralconcepts If you like streets you'll love this mate /watch?v=PbcM0V5O_C4

  • @auralconcepts

    Dumb.

  • @auralconcepts Dont stay that mate, us english have amazing films stars music yeah but America has got good things to. Much more bigger then england meaning much more chance for success :)

  • These geezers are so un-real, the lyrics he uses hit me in the deepest depths of my feelings. This tune makes me wonder what being addicted to smack would be like, looking back on your life wondering what fucked it with this tune banging in the background! Wow fucking mad as fuck mate! Such a fucking amazing tune!

    hold tight

  • just an incredible tune

i think everybody in the uk can relate to this tune - if not the world

  • "Maybe I'm better looking than you though

Maybe I've got more dough - but am I happier... no.

Get the love of a good girl and your world will be much richer than my world

    And your happiness will uncurl."

  • "stop dreamin, people who say that are blasphemin, they're doing 9-5 and moanin, and don't what you to succeed when they've blown it."

  • Damn this song helped me through my hardest and toughest times in my life

    Thanks to Mike Skinner!

  • @yeeeahboi I can relate to that geeza
