  • i used to fight like achilles then i took an arrow to the heel :P

  • death to paris!! fucking thousands die because of that retard >.<

  • hector's wife is rlllly pretty !!

  • Boagrius wasn't "of Troy" he was from Thessaly.

  • Hey Bro what soundtrack did you use at the beginning and the end ? ?

  • fuck that shit the true story is hector runned around the city walls 3 times, chased by Achilles, before getting raped, blinded and slain with ease...

  • @nikola799283 ,

Because in the Iliada, Hector was fear to Achilles. Because he knew that Achilles was an invencible warrior and immortal.

  • @cesaraugustothanos Achilles was NOT immortal, immortal is he who cannot die of any cause; Achilles, even without being killed in battle, would've died due to old age.

You mean that he was invulnerable, which means he couldn't be harmed by weapons. This NOT true either. In the Iliad, there is no reference to something like that, neither Achilles himself nor Thetis nor Hector nor anyone else thinks or says that Achilles is invulnerable. So, Hector was afraid because he knew he was better than him

  • Comment removed

  • @cesaraugustothanos Your comment is no longer active, but I saw what you wrote and I'll answer. The duel between Achilles-Hector is described in the Iliad, book 22. This is the original work for this event. The Iliad says nothing about Achilles' invulnerability. The works that say the heel story are later and DON'T decribe his duel with Hector. If I am wrong about that, give me A REFERENCE (e.g. Aescylus, Seven against Thebes, 280-287). This is how only how the convertation can proceed.

  • @Lhein33

Sorry, I can not give you references because the books I have are in ancient Greek or Latin, not English. But you should study more to Greek mythology to speak of Achilles, and not only the baser Iliad and Odissey of Homer.

  • @cesaraugustothanos Great! I speak ancient Greek quite well I think and Latin a bit. If you want to give me references, be sure I can read them and understand them. Also, speaking of "mythology" is quite confusing. You mean the epic poems, the tragedies? All of these literary genres in ancient Greece were taking things from the myths.

  • @Lhein33

Ok, but you're right, the old works of Achilles, in ancient greek mythology, are also in the form of a poem. But I will be discussing with whom I don´t know, and passing references by youtube. Just tell him that Iliad is not the only written source about Achilles.

  • @cesaraugustothanos Tell whom?? Myself? I don't understand. It doesn't matter, don't give me any references. But I remind you that you said:

"in the Iliada, Hector was fear to Achilles. Because he knew that Achilles was an invencible warrior and immortal".

And this was my question about, if you can show me a verse OF THE ILIAD that says that. Quite simple. I didn't start the convertation about other works.

  • @Lhein33 ,

You're right, I looked again, and this passage to which I referred is not in the Iliad, but in an earlier work about the Greek Gods, about Ares, the God of War, referring to Achilles and how he would interfered in the life of Achilles, including the time of his birth.

    .

  • @cesaraugustothanos A work earlier than the Iliad??? But Iliad is the oldest surviving greek literary work!! Or do you mean a work that refers to a period prior to the Trojan War? Of course there are plenty of them, written later than the Iliad. I would like to learn its title, though, so I can read it. I am interested in these works... Thank you.

  • @Lhein33 My friend all of you are not said that the most difficult fight for ACHILLES was not that with Hector but that with Memnon who was a great warior from Aithiopia and it was consider at the time as good as Achilles and when memnon killed a friend of Achilles something like that iam not sure then Achilles decide to fight again because he was retired of the battlefield and in a great fight between the two super herows Achilles was the winner proving that he was the best warrior ever lived

  • @greeklow71 The duel between Memnon-Achilles is not in the Iliad, but in the Aethiopis, an epic poem of the 7th century BC, which is greatly based on the Iliad.

The events around this duel echo the events of the Iliad: Memnon (Hector in the Iliad) kills Antilochus (Patroclus in the Iliad) and forces Achilles to enter the battle and kill him

The Memnon-story is created to echo and simultaneously surpass that of Hector, so we can't say they are two equivalent stories. The one is based on the other

  • @Lhein33 You are wright i just comment to you because i was sure that you will give the wright answer because i knew the story with memnon and achilles but not so good as you know it and ofcource because memnon and achilles were the two most fearless and best warriors at that time and is something usefull for the people to know

  • me to, HECTOR is the man! :)

  • hector was my favorite character in this movie

  • I could never tell ewho the bad guys and good guys were in this movie !!

  • screw hectors wife!!! loool

  • 2:01 lol, crab stance :D

  • I would've kick his ass big time. Hektor entered the ring with the wrong mindset i reckon. But hey ...this is just movie.

  • Compared to the book, this movie is a load of tosh...sorry folks.

  • the music in the hector vs achilles scene is simply awesome

  • Brad Pitt - the best man to play the legend

  • He should have at least been nominated for an Oscar. The Iliad is one of the most important pieces of literature in Western Civilisation and his was the best depiction of Achilles or any ancient Greek legendary warrior I have seen.

  • you forgot his beach scene battle

  • Achilles is my absolute favorite greek character. I decided that I'm going to marry him. My sister thinks I'm crazy. That's okay, lot's of people call me that! :)

  • fool thats brad pitt lol u can marry him but he may be taken.

  • Well in the real histroy it says that hector tried to avoid fighting Achilles, because he knew that would be the end of him.

  • Achilles the Legend!<3

    My Inspiration!<3

  • they ignored that achilles was bathed in the river styx.

  • I TOTALY AGREE WITH YOU smoke0imix0god

  • achilles will be remembered as a legendary and mighty hero

paris will be remembered as the faggy coward of troy

  • lol

  • Achilles yeah !!!

  • you left out the best fight at the beach fuck tard

  • Achilles is such a bad ass!!!!

  • I like the way he finished him off. He looked like a serpant.

  • aww i liked hector and feel sorry for his wife.......o well...

  • lol dude you can't copyright copyrighted material.

  • Prince paris is such an baby..run to his brothers foot when hes about to get beat like a coward!

  • What would you do in his situation?

  • Achilles is a beast!

  • a SEXY beast

  • Achilles last stand - Led Zeppelin would be perfect music for this movie i swear.

  • achilles = GOD

  • troy was a good movie...but 2 basic mistakes SPARTA IS NOT A FREAKING PORT!!!!and ACHILLES NEVER STEPT FOOT ON TROY!!!he died before troy had fell....

  • paris did also die before the greeks entered troy

  • no he didnt but yess he is a fagg

  • Smoke0imix0god is right. Paris did die before greeks entered troy.

  • GAY u.. cough cough

  • no it doesnt spell that check again

  • Achilles=Lion. A killing machine.

  • This movie was brilliant. The actress that played Hector's wife was beautiful. The actor who was Hector's father moved me to tears, when he went to Achilles and asked, let me wash my son's body, let me place the two coins over his eyes etc. so sad.

  • Safron Burrows is gorgeous

  • in achilles vs hector orlando bloom looks like he needs to poop!

  • I like Achilles he's was real no myth or story's about this guy just reality no falseness like Greek mythologies just a man. who was real not like Zeus or some shit and was really good at killing people

  • + Alexander the Great visited his grave.

**His exploits inspired a literary tradition in which he appeared as a legendary hero in the tradition of Achilles.

    **

  • how would you know? yah, that's right, you wouldn't.

  • this is pretty bad ass i would just add background music and it would be perfect

  • its perfect the way it is u moronic moron

  • dardanelia is an old illyrian name meaning pear, like the fruit, land of pears, etc etc, second, achilles was illyrian, albanian to be exact, yes, ofcourse he fought for greece at that time...just like im albanian now and fight for the u.s army...achills prayed to the pelasgian god "zoti" greece ltr called him, get this...zeus, go do some reading fellas

  • well you told them pretty good! thanks for the detailed info.

  • achilies is a malaka.

  • apparently every move achilles ever did was a killing move. Someone know if this is true?

  • first of all achillies and all of the other greek heroes, and MOST likely made up, legends. 1% it was real? well EVEN if, he died, so all of his moves couldnt be killing lol

  • Owned....

  • lol

  • he was one of the best because he was Greek !!!

  • i know

  • brad pitt looks like a lion in this movie

  • Achilles is one of the best warriors ever!!!

  • alxandr the great was half albanian half greek...greeks like to think and say he if full blooded greek! th fact rmains that his mother olympias was an epirots princess, epirotes = illyrian... todays epirotes and arcadians are kown as arvanites, the people who save greece time and time again...arvanites = albanians, 4 million plus in greece, go do some reaing my noble friends

  • you got any reads to recomend?

  • in the iliad, achilles wasn`T invulnerable! and the illiad actually ends with hektor`s funeral.

ps:my favorite hero is diomedes since he was the only human who managed to wound olympian gods!!!

  • izenion, if youdv been a soldier in that war, you wouldv drowned yourself in the sea after pissing yourself.

a blow like that probly put him into shock immediately, and hector knew before he walked out there that it was a losing battle, so he probly lost the hope he needed to continue to fight. i doubt the bones in his shoulder could work properly with a spear in there!

  • great fight scenes!!!

  • ^(^_^)^

  • How about you get someone to pierce your shoulder with a large blade and see how your body reacts to the trauma and bleeding.

Make sure to have someone with a phone ready to call 911 so that when you pass out from the shock you might be able to get back on youtube and apologize for being a retard.

  • too bad i'm not a hardened mythical warrior whose been fighting his whole life and i'm not in an epic film, dumbass.

  • Exactly, dipshit. It's fantasy. Achilles dies from being shot in the ankle with an arrow. By your own sarcasm your previous comment is only made more foolish.

  • what the hell are you smoking? BECAUSE it's fantasy, he SHOULDN'T die. if it wasn't fantasy, that shoulder wound would be fatal. however, it IS. get it? your own idiocy has only made you more foolish.

  • You still don't get it. He could die if someone farted on him as long as the writers wrote it that way.

  • you still don't get it. in that case, that part was bad writing. good job not making a single correct rebuttal to my statement.

  • It was bad writing for being too realistic? What the hell?

  • precisely, my friend. is dodging bullets realistic? no. is the matrix still a good movie? yes. just think about it for a second.

  • thats true, and ajax died before he did in the real battle

he supposedly died AFTER achilled was killed..he was denied certain things of his and then went on a rampge

and odysseus was from sparta, so he is a beast

  • Odysseus wasn't from Sparta... he was from the island of Ithaca.

    Only Menelaus was from Sparta.

By the way, the movie is wrong about Menelaus(and not only), He not died in Troy like the movie show!

Menelaus returned to Sparta with Helen after the end of Trojan War!

  • ya where his second wife killed him! lol

  • odysseus wasn`T from sparta at all, but his wife penelope was!odysseus was from ithaca!!!

  • I feel that in the movie, they didnt pay enough attention to both Odysseus and Ajax.

Odysseus was the master strategist who basically won the battle for the Greeks

Ajax is a beast, and one of Achilles closest allies.

  • hahaha they though hector killed him when his sword was stuck in the sheild lol

  • Thats because Achilles was furious at the death of his 'special friend' Patroclus.

Achilles shits himself when the god of the river comes after him. He runs.

    Diomedes goes after Ares.

Achilles is likely to attack his own troops as much as the Trojans if they cross him. He is just an angry person. Diomedes gives the physical side to the war as well as other ways. He goes on recon missions with Odysseus etc.

    Diomedes rocks.

    Not as much as Ajax.

  • You are missing the point of who really was one of the champions in the Trojan War: Diomedes.i think by far he is the greatest out of all the other heroes for 3 reasons:

1.Without him the greeks would have fallen by thier ships.

2.He injured Ares the God of War in battle, giving the Greeks a great advantage.

3.Because he was in the battle the longest.

This can b found in Homers Illiad. Diomedes can kick Achilles ass, he is only great because he was immortal, his only weak spot was his heel.

  • Diomedes was ideed a great hero but not the greatest.Homer's Iliad only describes 52(approximately)days of the war.The fact that Achilles doesn't fight on most of these days doesn't mean that Diomedes was in the battle the longest.Troyan war lasted 10 years. When Achilles was missing, the Greeks were in danger. When he came back,Maiandros(the river of Troy)was full of Troyan corpses.

  • Isn't it spelled 'trojan'?

  • Everyones "achilles heal" is a weak spot..fucking dumbass. Besides Odysseus is five times better than Diomedes..Achilles is still the shit. And Alexandros can suck a dick like no one else.

  • btw here's a fun little tidbit to debate over for u fans out there who liked this scene...i noticed achilles walked into battle with a slighty different shield than Hector..his had a moon shaped opening at the sides to give him space to thrust his spear thru...you think it gave him the necessary advantage to win over hector? hectors was round, if u noticed in the video...u think it might have been a factor? not that the shield is canon to the original story or anything...

  • i know which one i would use as a snow sled...debate over...you're welcome

  • i bet tht if they made leonidas and tht pussy right there leonidas would rape him

  • no way dude achilles was considered the greatest warrior ever born leonidas was a great warrior yes but not as skillful as achilles-still wud b 1 hell of a fight tho

  • Lol I agree.

  • LEGOLAS WOULD OWN ACHILLES!! his heel would be an easy target. hahahaha! but annakin skywalker would own everyone!

  • Could they have made achilles any uglier in that movie?

  • Yes, by not casting the very attractive Brad Pitt......

  • is achilles a spartan?

  • hektor according to the illiad published in the western world is supposed to be written with a K. in latin it is written with a C though. the english language adopted many terms from the latin language. and greek is not latin!!!!so, i prefer the k over the c.

  • 'C' in latin is ALWAYS pronounced like a 'K'

    :D

  • 'C' in latin is ALWAYS pronounced like a 'K'

-oh, really? read my previous post again. i said i prefer the original spelling in greek!

  • No worries :P, I was agreeing with you ;)

  • heracles was the greatest warrior as he was zeus`son who at the same time was breastfed by hera herself (gaining god-like power), when she didn t recognize him. heracles was also involved in the first siege of troy alongside telamon (aias`father who became king of salamis). he was a warrior in his own right fighting gigantic beasts. no mortal could have been a match against him. geeez.

  • arod, shut the fawk up, hector couldn t even resist achilleus`shield push. hector lacked achilleus`determination. and if you watched more properly, you might have figured out that achill played with his foe at the beginning.

  • I watched as a critic, which is how you are supposed to watch. Achilles wasn't playing around, you can tell because he just lost his friend, cousin (I forget what their relationship is) He isn't going to play, he's going for the kill as soon as he can. The fight was just pathetic, to many mistakes.

  • in the book friend in the movie here cousin so u got it rie either way

  • Oh. Thanks.

  • thats some pretty crappy armor hector's got on there,

  • Yeah, I do research about them times, turns out that although yes the spear would have gone through to the skin and caused a nice sized wound, but the blow would have hardly been considered life threatening, yes it would get Hector in a shit load of trouble but he could still recover. Plus if you watch the fight, their are many occasions were Hector could have just attacked and the fight would be over example 3:54

  • if you look close i think he might have pierced the top of hektors lung. im not sure but it looks thar way to me. plus he was weazing when he was on his knees

  • Possibly, but even if you could still throw another attack in. Either way Hector is dead from the infection, might as well take him with you.

  • superrrr

  • why want people just post the whole movie

  • true........even though i have the whole movie.........watevr

  • they wont post the whole movie cos u can only put 10 min videos on you tuibe bumass

  • fuck u dumb bitch, they can so dont talk on subjects you know nothin about!

  • You know something....Garrett Hedlund and Brad Pitt really do look a LOT alike...it's creepy...

  • In english hector is spelled with a C, but i'm sure that in age of the greeks they used a K.

  • by the way you spelled hector wrong it´s spelled with a c not a k

  • i gotta say, i think i've seen achilles do that little strike jump, or fairy jump as they call it...at least 4 times in the movie! is that something a demi-god would do when fighting? hmm...

  • I agree, Achilles would win against Leonidas.

  • I'm sorry people im a big fan of Troy and 300. But Achilles was the Greatest Warrior ever to be born!

King Leonidas would lose to Achilles. It would be one hell of a fight tho.

  • No he werent the greatest warrior ever to be born, he was the greatest warrior in the war between greece and troy. But he is undoubtingly the most famous warrior in history and the funny thing is that he has probably never existed (according to some historians) but he must have been built on something ore someone so a great warrior of greece must have existed, and perhaps it were Achilles himself.

  • I read u all the time dude, claiming again and again, that Achilles wasn't the greatest warrior in the world

Do u have somebody else in mind?

    If so, pls enlighten us!

  • first Herakles/hercules is the greatest of the greek heros. achilles is just the best in the illiad.

  • If u didn't notice it dude, I said :WARRIOR!

Hercules was not an experienced warrior in the true meaning of the word!

It's just his awesome strengh and equipment that made him such a formidable opponent.

  • Talk about gangsta!!!LMAO!!

  • You know, the Leonidas, Achilles, Hector, Maximus (from Gladiator), __(insert favorite warrior here)__, etc. would make for a kick ass episode of celebrity deathmatch. Does that show even exist anymore? lol.

  • man, id go for annakin skywalker. that fuken jedi knight would own 4 of them. he's my favorite hero/warrior whatsoever.

  • The greatest warrior of all time vs. a jedi prodigy, close but hes the greatest for a reason...

  • hehe give ur anakin a sword instead of a lightsaber and we'll how many he can take

  • who is leonidas???

  • king leonidas was once a king of sparta

  • achilles vs leonidas thats what i wanna see

  • that would be some sexy shit, wouldn't it?!! damn!

  • Leonidas will win :p

  • Nah, fuck that. King leonidas would have achilles dead in 2 seconds.

  • its hector dee de dee

  • If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Hector, tamer of horses. Let them say I lived in the time of Achilles.

  • Hektor is spelt H-E-K-T-O-R in the Troy look it up :<{

  • Its funny how that guy says is historically inaccurate even though it was based on a poem.

  • i hope you know this film was 1 of the most historically inacurate film made

  • It doesn't matter if the film is historically inacurate; many films made are inacurate, not only this one.

  • yes im just sayin its so far away from the truth u fukin cunt

  • i hope you know the directors knew that...that's why they said "inspired by Homer's 'The Iliad'" at the credits..

this is a new look on the myth, and true fans of the book can appreciate it to an extent

  • yes they are makin it wot its not

  • Achilles is a Bastard.

  • Achilles is leet pwnage

  • "Hektor" is spelt "Hector"

  • hector is the latin spelling of the greek name hektor with a "k". the english language makes usage of more latin names than greek ones!

  • thats just badass dude!
