@CrystallyzeD Wil Wheaton does this kind of work and would disagree with you. It's a closed community at the high end, they hire from within mostly and by word of mouth only and it's very difficult. Networking is the key, naturally determination is required for any task but it's important to open doors firstly.
@bullmeecham Well...I don't think that matters much when you're recording alone in a booth with only a director and engineer outside. Although it seems that a certain sound a voice actor may have falls out of favor after a time. Think about how much you heard Rob Paulsen and Tress Macneille in the 90's compared to now. They're still very versatile, fine actors but the only time I consistently hear Tress now is on The Simpsons.
@CrystallyzeD Yes it takes determination and practice. He didn't say anything different. All he said was that often people think that doing voice overs is a walk in the park. It's not. It's the hardest acting there is, period. So why call him an asshole? He's only saying the truth.
@TucoRamirez2 It's like someone telling you that you have cancer and there's no way you can possibly beat it in the most obnoxious way ever. You can not say for sure if this is the truth or not since it's all really a matter of opinion no matter how you want to decorate the differences between voice acting and regular acting. Everyone is different. Plus, this guy's whole tone and know-it-all herp derp attitude sucks balls from the get go. I'm standing by it. Get over guys, it's not that serious.
i really dunno if i have the voice to...but i would love to try voice acting for animated movies or even English dubbing animes. but im afraid that my voice sounds as bad as it does on the phone, (i listened to a voice recording of it from a message and it wasnt so good lol) but i really want to try, maybe i can practice?
@JoshSitar robbie rist is quite possibly the greatest voice over actress of our generation...neh, greatest voice over of all time...neh-neh, greatest actor of all time...neh-neh-neh, greatest stage presence of all time...neh-neh-neh-neh...robbie is the second coming! you can't spell Christ without rist!!!
Looking for a voice over job in animation............go to jamesjuma1 to hear my various voices,,,,,,,,will create ANY voice you need..........Thank you
You gotta respect a man who takes his work serious. Saying that he's ugly is also uncalled for and juvenile.
This guy along with other skilled voice actors bring good things to the table. Never under estimate talent and skill. And definitely, don't be jealous.

Man he is ugly he needs a mirror for his Birthday !!!!!!! what a blowhart tooting his own horn he talks about the job as if it were so hard to do like become a Green Beret or walk a tightrope between scyscrapers
Oh, no question. I remember when I had to do voluntary voice over work when I was taking a college in communications. My character was dying, and I had to literally lie down on the floor, and record my lines there, even though no one is going to "see me" on camera. Sometimes you have to do gestures in order to make it sound real. In the case of Ian James Corlett, my God, the man can deliver his lines with his hands in his pockets. I tried that, and it just doesn't work for me. :(
ok guys we need some voice actors and actresses for this series called "jail birds" by SimoleonStudiosTv so if u dont get a part on this series please help us thanx :-)
what this guy is saying is exactly right! However it seems to me as if he is insinuating that its IMPOSSIBLE to be....and that you have to be GIFTED...hahaha...NO ROBBIE RIST! you can practice and get an agent! fool
@shayan365 I believe it's pretty much as a warning or wake up call to anyone that thinks voice over work is a Mickey Mouse course, and I take heed to his advice because gifted as he is I'm sure he's seen a whole lot of people think they have what it takes when they really need what you suggested:practice.
Well said Robbie. These days anyone with a decent mic and a computer is suddenly a "voice-Actor". Another problem is all the new inexperienced so-called "Producers" don't know a great delivery when they hear it and for the lowest fee.
