This is beautiful and there is no doubt Marty is a fantastic singer. Marty is my mother's (84, born 11 days before Marty) favourite singer and La Paloma was my father's favourite song (he even used to keep white doves). I have shown this to my mother and she would really like to see/hear the English version promised in then video, does anybody have it or can you tell me where to get it please? Regards
Music, like poetry, is best appreciated in its original language. Think of Edgar Allen Poe's Annabelle Lee In English. Now try to translate that and what do you come up with.
@EMAARDUBAI Sorry to burst your bubble but Elvis was never king of anything, Marty, W. Nelson, J. Cash, Tom T. Hall, W. Jennings, K. Kristofferson left him standing. He just happened to be around when teenagers had some spare cash & wanted to be different to their parents.
There was two of many great singer's that I wish could have sat with just two or three instruments and just traded songs and talked and had been recorded on film.
That was Marty & Elvis.
They both could sing just about anything.
What a treat that would have been if it had been 3 hours long.
I fully agree. What a tragedy that Elvis died so soon. He loved Marty Robbins, and as you say; think of the prospect of having these guys singing and harmonizing for hours.
nolarae1929 had liked music to song,then latr heard words,re:the dove,sad. kept waiting for marty to sing in english,[but not on this recording. [LaPaloma}
What a loss. Was such a great showman.

Makes a woman sigh. Not only a song writer, but what a spirit in his singing.
Thank you for sharing this treasure.

When I left Havana nobody saw me go
But my little gaucho maid who loves me so
She came down the pathway following after me
That same little gaucho maid that I longed to see
If at your window you see a gentle dove
Treat it with care and welcome it there with love
It may be so I do not deny its glee
Crown it with flowers grant love its hours for me
