It was actually written for Mike Love on his 27th birthday on March 15 with three members of the Beatles(excluding Ringo, who had already gone home by March 1). Notice Donovan piping up at the end of ths song.
I both love and hate youtube... I love it because a lot of beatles fans can hear some of this underground stuff..... But I'm a HUGE beatles fan and it took me years and a couple dead bodies to get some of this stuff. Now it's free for everyone on youtube..... GOD DAMN YOU YOUTUBE!
my main source was a series called "Back-Track". Search on ebay or google it. There's also a lot of stuff out there where someone just takes the left of right track from a stereo version and calls it a bootleg....don't buy those. Rubber Soul is easy to do that with because the left/right channels on the stereo mix are really different without bleed... (early days of beatles stereo which was an afterthough... until revolver or pepper maybe the stereo mix was considered a novelty throwaway mix.
This stuff is great...but only sell-able to diehard fans of the group. The public at large wouldn't buy it. The stuff on Anthology is the most commercial stuff they had in the way out outtakes. Even those outtakes were cleaned up and edited.
I cannot understand why the "she said she said" demo,s werent on Anthology. Its a disgrace considering the considerable amount of shit that went on the Anthology series and these out-takes, as an example of John developing a great song, are pure gold..
@thenintendo64nerd Well OK, bad choice of words as nothing the Beatles ever did could be considered "shit". I guess I just meant tracks that werent as worthy as the "she said she said" demo's which are a pretty damn interesting document of the birth and evolution of a pretty damn interesting song!
@augustusdes in that case you are right, and there were some things that could have been excluded from the anthology, like and your bird can sing but i must admit it's hilarious how john tries to sing the damn thing but he can't stop laughing
This is freakin awesome especially the stuff from India. I thought I had heard all of the outtakes but this stuff is a treasure. Keep them comin!!!!!!
this is wicked stuff. the first track sounds really folky. you can hear the influnce of dylans first album. its a bit tougher sounding than what the beatles were doing at the time. shows how they were writing lots of different things, but then making them sound more pop in the studio. the india stuff really portrays the relaxed chilled out vibe of the time, where they had a chance to reflect on there lives over the last five years.

She Said- I have heard a thousand times, its great to hear it evolving from a simple raw idea. How brilliant that these recordings have survived.
