I wouldn't call Down stoner rock, your right bout that. I think Mordern Heavy Blues is actualy quite a suitable title for Downs music but for bands like Sleep and Orange Goblin I never think to call them anything other than Stoner Rock.

The thing you might call stoner rock may be just modern heavy blues, or heavy metal with a blues influence.If i would describe Down's music in a tagg, i would call it heavy blues.Now there are other bands who tend to have psycedelic influence from the Indian culture and others who are doomy or sludgy/hardcore punk.There is a difference.
