brilliant find Ras.... same here...started "sneaking" to clubs/going blues dance '83 (just 14 years of age...lol - no ID required back then) - the early/mid 80s is when sound-clashes were rocking - travelling all over to support your sound boys...... lol... when I think about it now... gee I was a naughty child... ;-)
yeah them dance were great no ID were needed so them youths got to understand the vibes LOL meaning u and the other youths of the times i just turn 20 lifting dem boxes were hard work LOL but i tell u them were good times
god knows owning a sound system is expensive bwooy remember back 80's 90's only certain sounds can cut dub's anybody can cut a dub bwooooooy expensive dunno u not getting no free dub plates unless u one of the top a top sounds
Well being a ex soundman and singer for scarpion high power from harlesden in da 80's - i know exactly wah dem a deal wid!....i even cut dubplate for stereograph...and volcano (stonehead was de owner) - all this was goin on when i was like 18....im now 45 - its a long time ago still but dem was da best days of my life! - nuff of my good friends pass away now but da memory deh strong still! - BIG UP TO ALL SOUNDSYSTEM - u dont realise how hard they work to entertain the public!..
@Tambysoundman bredrin nuff respect to your comments, growing up in the uk was hard in the 70/80 but wid reggae music to lead us made it easier, check out my video's of when we use to play out in our small town of rugby, we use to lift up heavy boxes, go to london to buy tune , service to sound ourselves, and use our dinner money to buy tune at the end of the week, all in the name of vibesing up a dance,
Good footage. Brings me back to those days, me being one of the Brixton Town Hall youts. There is so much missing footage, but it is slowly coming to light.
