I had the same experience as this guy today. I was working next to the runway of Sywell Aerodroam (Northampton, England) and a spitfire went flying over my head at about 15 feet. I admit it wasn't as low as this but still made me jump. Watched it fly around doing barrell rolls and loop the loops and what a sound the Rolls Royce Merlin make. Beautiful plane.

Apparently in WW2 some pilots of Spits did fly really low over some german soldiers. They caught the germans completely by surprise and therefore they weren't prepared to shoot at it as they would have been had it come from a high altitude seen from a distance.
