  • how is the quality after burn it to dvd??

as there are too many product in market.. currently my way is record using dvd recorder :(

  • what if my VCR has only two output sockets ? One audio one video ?

  • @zdrgdr That's ok. Just plug in white and yellow and leave red out.

  • thanks a lot this solved my problem!!!!!!!!

  • it's purely basic just link both the

vhs player with the dvd recorder

insert tape into the player and

press play and with the dvd intto the recorder

just press record baring in mind not all vhs tapes

can be duplicated onto dvd due to vhs encryption

    so no conversion required .

  • @FRANKIESHANOWSKIY2K0

    anyway to bypass the encryption?

  • @nigen

it can contribute on what make of dvd recorder you have

because most dvd recording manufactors installs a copywright

protection software so it can dectect if you trying to duplicate a vhs tape

on to dvd so it blocks the signal and some others dont have that protection so it enable

you to duplicate any new or old vhs tape onto dvd in earlie cbs fox videos has got that protection

so you can't duplicate them reffer to the dvd-r specs manual on recording first.

    merry christmas

  • @FRANKIESHANOWSKIY2K0

    its a magnavox dvd-rec/VCR combo, zv427mg9-A.

its seems that is can record with recorded tapes and old commercial tapes. If I were to say re-record a commercial tape onto another VHS would the encryption signal carry to the blank vhs?

  • @nigen

if you link two vhs players together one for the toploader

and the bottom one for duplication and even you try to duplicate

a cbs fox home video title to another blank vhs the results can

lead to dissapointment and you get a scrambled playback results

with others you can because they realy dont have any encryption at all

so your safe but you can tune the signal on the duplication recorder

at the back to confuse encryption.

  • @FRANKIESHANOWSKIY2K0

how would you confuse the signal? 0.o

  • @nigen

it's away of something that ressembles a screwhole at the back

where you need a fine screwdriver to twist the tuning screw to a certain

moderated signal ferquency enough to confuse the other signal so

you can bypass the encyption so you can start the duplication sometimes it works

some other times it dont. you need to reffer to your vhs manual about vhs manual

    tunning first..

  • Is this your product ?

  • @kevthedude1 Yes. Is this a "infomercial?"

  • visit vhs to computer.blogspot.com

  • This looks simple enough that I might be able to do it. What is the brand of the program that you are using? I would like to get this also...Thanks...Paul

  • Can you do this with copyrighted videos i.e. ones I've bought from a shop with a specific program/film on it?

  • how much does the kit cost?

  • to save time, you can just torrent the stuff

  • I assume that you can't actually record videos to dvd that have macrovision protection right?

  • How much did this cost?

  • My only comment is: Why didn't he include a link where to buy the product?

  • @cocofish07 Try Amazon.com and search "honestech VHS to DVD"

  • i just bought ez video convertor and i dont know how to use it someone HELP!!!!!

  • what is the name of the product?

  • I recorded a tv show from a vhs tape and then copied it to a dvd i want to upload that tv show to youtube but my laptop sees the dvd as empty(it gives me the option to burn stuff on there)on the dvd player i cant finalize it doesnt give me any option than delete it...can anybody help please?

  • do you know when you use a converter for your computer if it takes up a lot of room on the computer?? like more than you'd like??

  • this is the best conversion program that can do it all watch?v=zaaL3YMzlW8

  • can it rcord your xbox 360 footage?

  • what format does it burn too?

  • i love vhs taps i dont care what yall think also like 8 track

  • What if you have commercial VHS tapes? Like the one with the copyright.

  • @yashagrl you can do it. Get 4.0 or later version!

  • Myself i use virtualdub with a simple capture card for this, it works great. ^^.

  • I just recently got this. My dvds skip and also I can't fast forward or rewind. It simply skips to the next scene when i push either button. Any suggestions?

  • I have a really old VHS I'm going to try and do Black Ops commentary with

  • Hey I really like your video

i just wanna noe how much was that box ? vhs to dvd????

    Thanksss :)

  • @MiileyyzzFan you can get it between $50 ~ $70

  • @MiileyyzzFan wanna noe??????

  • Sweet

  • you have the exact laptop and exact vhs player that I have, creepy

  • so i have to watch the whole movie when i record it right? i have over 2000 tapes =( damn those asian series

  • Have you had any issues where the VHS would not burn to a disc due to copyright?

  • Do you recommend it nate?

  • i need to get me one of those

  • My VCR only has white and yellow plugs in the back, no red or s-video.

How is the sound quality? I've had trouble with transferring the sound (with a different product).

  • @techygal what is the price of cable and small box.

  • @techygal what is the price of cable and small box.

  • Were you able to edit the footage at all? And How good was the quality of the picture after recording?

  • Does it let you edit the recording to have scenes?

  • I purchased this software....but will it be compatible with my MacBook?

  • can you convert 8mm cassette tapes to dvd

  • Do you know if you can also transfer the 8mm video cassette to dvd?

  • @studmuffin018 As long as you have a device that can play 8mm tape and has RCA connectors.

  • @studmuffin018 Or get an adapter tape

  • but if you have a crappy vhs player with tracking issues your DVD will end up looking crappy too how do you get the picture to adjust?

  • @claudiatannahill If you are having a video quality issue with your VCR, you probably need to clean the head of your VCR.

  • @techygal what I mean is the tracking on the tape your playing like lp speeds give you a jumpy picture and your going up and down the tracking scale to keep the picture from jumping.the sp speed is more stable but ep has issues too.I had to convert 18 yr old tapes but the Quality is not that good.

  • How many times can you tranfer ? and how much did this program cost, Canadien wise ?

  • @vaan1323 If you have the software, there is no limit to how many times you can transfer. In CAD, it will cost (currently) $85.

  • Thank you for this. A lot of help.

  • when you install the program, it asks for a product key, where can i find that product key?

  • @shpro19 The product key should be on the back of the CD case or CD sleeve. If your product was registered, you can retrieve the product key on Honestech's website.

  • Nice tutorial. Will this work with a copyrighted tape too? Not that I would ever do it. Thanks for your time !

  • @Johnnyboy792 It will record from any video player if it has RCA/composite connections. However, I am not a lawyer, so I can't say what is allowed and not allowed legally. So I wouldn't recommend you making copies of copyrighted material. :)

  • @techygal Thanks Buddy :0)

  • Hey, have you tried the Roxio VHS to DVD seup? Which one do you think is better?

  • @danpluso They are similar. Honestech has VHS to DVD 5.0 out, and you can check it out by downloading their trial version. Although you will need the capture device which comes with the Deluxe package, you can at least see how it works.

  • R U allowed to record the few scene then stop it and then record another scene rather then recording all of it?

  • @Jinn786 Yes, you can. You can merge highlights from many tapes into one video.

  • hey ,,,can the converter turn them in to an avi or mpeg...instead of going direct to the dvd mode?

  • @metamorfosis84 Yes you can record video in MPEG format and watch on your computer. They have new version (5.0) out now, so you should check out the new version.

  • This may work but I just recently tried the easycap and mine was horrible on the audio. And I didnt just transfer vhs I also hooked up to my dvr and got the same garbled sound , unusable.

  • sweet

  • BUEN TUTORIAL PANA!! THANKS!!

  • how about copywrite protected tapes??? does it copy them??

  • @sicntwist i think you can chose where to start record to burn into the cd :3

  • Where did you get the product and how much did it cost?

  • Unfortunately, the burning is EASY, but the quality on composite is horrible. It won't look at all like it does on the screen during the process. This is a great 'gadget' if you are recording game play or just goofing around, but terrible if you are trying to preserve home movies to DVD from 8mm or VHS using composite.

  • I only own 1VHS player and frankly I don't want to buy another, lol ,im using a vhs to dvd video converter , but theres one problem , the program wont allow me to do it copy protected keeps coming up . do you have a solution?

  • Thanks Dude...... Is there a way to NOT transfer the voices?

  • @jewelsrr yes, just leave off the audio cables - don't connect them.

  • Thanks Dude

  • What is the difference between composite and S-video?

  • @righteous0warrior S-video is a little better quality that composite but it does not transmit any audio.

  • @techygal

Hey, got a question for ya' Can I record in S-Video first, then some how get the audio of the tape on a second run useing composite?

  • @righteous0warrior Composite is the entire video in one signal. S-video splits up the color and brightness into two signals which prevents them from mixing, and you get a much sharper image as a result.

  • Yeah, But how much was it and where did you get it from?

  • so pretty much i could just buy a dazzle capture card?

  • @bartman951

Make sure that you check for updated driver update available for Windows 7, Vista or 64 bit OS before purchase. Many older hardware/capture device don't have updated driver, which you can't use it on the newer computer.

  • How much was it when you bought it and will this work for Windows XP and for copyright stuff-ex-movies?

  • @nyssa7

Yes, and yes! But you have to turn off every application and don't surf internet while capturing and rendering video. Assuming that you have old computer (XP), it will eat up much of CPU usage.

  • hi can u tell me name of that WHITE video adapter you are using? r u converting it via FIrewire card? or watelse

    Amjad

  • @theflare007

VIDBOX is the name of the video adapter from Honestech, which accepts RCA and S-video. Yes, you can also use firewire from camcorder to capture video and edit. (The software supports that as well).

  • were do you buy this?

will it work with wind. 7

    Thanks

  • @Joseph15a

This video is quite old! So google or search online for latest version. ("honestech VHS to DVD")

Amazon.com has pretty good price for PLUS version of the product now.

  • heyy where did you buy this because i have a bunch of VHS tapes i really want to keep forever.. please let me know! thanks!! =]

  • @cherriangel

Best product for the buck that supports Windows 7 and 64 bit OS is "VHS to DVD 4.0 Plus" based on Google Shopping Search. You can purchase online via Amazon.com, Buy.com, Newegg.com and so on.

  • what are the risks of getting a company to convert a VHS video to DVD?

  • @badasspete

RISK: They can see your video and editing anything would be extra cost.

  • how's does the quality of the dvd come out? does it look noisy if the vhs is noisy?

  • @flowergirljools

The DVD quality will be same as the source (VHS tape). The program does not improve the video, but it helps you save the video before your VHS tape becomes unusable.

  • or u could get a dubbing combo recorder. software aint cheap.

  • what is the name of the soft ware and thanke for the tutorial

  • The software is called VHS to DVD 3.0 Deluxe, I think 4.0 is out now.

  • lol pause vid at 0:04 and he looks retarded

  • use a program called camstudio to capture your computer screen

  • My VCR only has a scart socket. If I used a scart connector thing for the audio in out and visual cables will it still work?

  • Yes, but make sure to use a SCART adapter with a bi-directional (in-out) switch on it.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, but will this also work on Hi8 cassettes? Also, can I "edit" the videos from the VHS to copy only selections from the tape?

    Thanks!

  • Yes, it will work with Hi8 tapes, it will record anything you can hook up to the capture device.

The Advanced mode lets you edit videos so you can cut out only what you need.

  • Cassettes are simply more fun than DVD, but what to I know?

  • @OBSysteme obviously nothing !

  • @joecobra1234 Well thanks for informing me on that, LOL

  • hey, ive got an old tape video recorder. it uses the smaller tapes, and i want to convert it so that i can use it for youtube so that i have another camera. HOW?!

  • If it will plug into the capture device using RCA/Composite cables you can use this software.

  • What is that little Gizmo that you plugged your cables into? Do I got to go hunt that down separately, or do it come with your software package? The device looks the size of a deck of cards.

  • The capture device comes with the VHS to DVD Deluxe software.

  • try roxio easy vhs to dvd *u kan put cassette tapes and lds on cds *

  • You can put cassette tapes and LPs on CD with this software as well.

  • great vid try screen caputer next time

  • hello i was just askin where you bought that product cause i am really desperate to try that please please please tell me

  • I bought this a long time ago, i think they have 4.0 available now. Check for 'honestech' on Amazon or google.

  • thx for nothing doofus

  • does adaptor (converter) works with Windows 7 ?

  • Mine does, but you might want to check with the manufacturer - honestech.

  • I have a question: Do you have to wait for the whole video to convert or can you stop it and only convert the part of the VHS you want. Thanks

  • Nice Tutorial, super easy

  • I have a question: does is removed the Macrovision(copyright protection) from the VHS tape?

Thank you, hope to hear from you soon!=)

  • It should work as Macrovision works within VCR. It doesn't remove it but can capture video to a PC and burn with this product.

  • Hi i have a AMILO Pro 2000 laptop without a dvd burner and i dont even have a working vhs recorder. If i buy a External DVD Burner and a VHS from ebay. Can i connect them to my laptop and copy my tapes? Please help

  • Make sure your laptop meets the minimum system requirements. If it does, it will probably work. Also check out the new version (4.0) of this program.

  • i bought this product and i am having trouble with the video being very choppy. it seems to skip every so often missing up the recording. do you, or anyone out there know how to use the setting option? maybe i have it set wrong. please let me know

  • Choppy video usually indicates that your CPU usage is too high. Try closing other programs running on your PC and try lowering the resolution. You can check the CPU usage using the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del).

  • This product has been disappointing since I got it over a year ago. No matter what I do, it produces random gaps in the audio which are very noticeable. On the rare occasion when I use it now, I have to record a tape twice, then in Premiere, cross fade back and forth whenever I hit pockets of these gaps.

DON'T RECORD directly to DVD like in this YT vid. You'll have no way to correct the audio problems, or make a menu - You GOTTA edit your video if you want them to be worth keeping!

  • I have a questions:

    1. I have this old VHS at PAL SECAM recorded when I was working overseas(Indonesia).

    2. When I played the video in USA (NTSC), only audio is working and no video.

I wonder if the software you were using can convert to DVD at both PAL SECAM and NTSC system.

    Any recommendation?

  • You can change the "Video Standard" from NTSC to PAL. However, you must have either version 3.0 or 4.0 to do this.

  • The method I use is transferring the vhs through a DV camcorder to my PC and then using my video software to create a DVD.

The problem with these methods being so readily available is that it gives us yet another way to infringe somebody else's copyright. Hopefully, people who have these capablities will be wise to only transfer their own material.

  • OTHER METHODS:

1 use a dvd player with recording option

2 use a TV TUNER on your computer

3 use the transferring device of a minidv camera

All of them work the same (recording the play)

sadly when you transfer from/into a casette you have to do it in real time wich is annoyng when you have a 2 hour movie.

  • thanks dude

  • Be very careful with this product; its too slow, needs too much processing power at the PC, will produce jerky results, costs too much and there are better and cheaper alternatives out there.

Sorry to disagree with the author but we tried this ourselves and binned it quickly.

  • what other products do u suggest?

  • Hi

We start our process using Ulead Video Studio as this give much more ability to manipulate the final DVD product, editing, menus etc. This is then processed through a quick PC and saved as DVD files.

We then use DVD Shrink to allow the DVD files to be compressed and saved onto one standard DVD for a 3 hour VHS tape.

It is time consuming but it does work

  • @gnouyer try easy cap

  • will this work on windows 7?

  • Would this work for 8mm video camcorders as well? This looks like a neat little device. I was also wondering if this device can be used to bring into your computer and then open the video into Microsoft Movie Maker to edit and upload?

  • how much was this/???

    amd it came with the

    capture device?

  • you should use Camtasia for the computer screen portion of this ad.. or tutorial.. or whatever it is..

  • Nice video my dear virtual friend!

  • let's say my tape is 30 minutes long, does that mean the program will take approx 30 minutes to burn it to dvd??

  • Yes, the time it takes to play the video plus a bit of processing and DVD burning time.

  • where i can buy this vsh to dvd converter

can help me ? where i can find this ?

  • In the US you can get it from many retailers like Fry's, Office Max/Depot, Costco, Amazon and even honestech

  • How's the quality of the DVD version compared to the original VHS?

I've tried several products for doing this, Hauppauge and ATI TV tuners for the PC, and both had problems with my old home movies recorded with a Magnavox Movie camcorder from the late 1980s. I get fluttering/jumpy video...normal video with non-home movie stuff. :*( thinking of getting a combo set top vhs to DVD burner. ABout $220. Or I'll have them professionally done. These devices can be hit or miss.

  • Choppy video is usually a result of a lack of processing power. You should check the specs on your computer and maybe the CPU usage. Recording video is very processor intensive and if your computer is a bit on the slow side, you should make sure to avoid doing anything else on the computer while it is recording.

  • It's not chopping like it's having a problem keeping up with movement in the film being converted, it's a fluttering like the picture is rolling sideways (instead of up and down) for a moment.

  • I guess so, as long as you don't record over your tapes.

  • Hi Nate this is Essential Eugene. I bought the Honestech 4.0 Plus from Fry's Electronics. When I transfer the the video, I don't get the audio. Is there something I have to switch on the program in order for it to get it?

  • Eugene, there shouldn't be anything you have to switch on, just make sure you are attaching your audio cables from the outputs on your VCR to the inputs on your capture box. I made the mistake of connecting my audio cables to the ports on the front of my vcr once and then found out those are inputs.

  • sweet... but how big were the MB or GB that was recorded...

  • I don't know the MB or GB since I was using the easy mode, but my movie was 2 hours long.

  • very stragiht foward video 6 plus1!!

  • i got a dvd/tape player for my last bithday and it copyes stragit from one to the othrer it was the best thing ive eva had

  • I agree with just buying a VCR and a DVD recorder, you're just wearing out your DVD drive and wasting money on a stupid program doing it this way

  • I think I have a VCR n a DVD recorder, but don't know how to record... :(

  • I have one of those, and they only record 30 minutes if you want compatibility and are hard to work with. They are picky about DVDs, the one we got only wants DVDRW and will only work if you erase it with it. $300 for something inferior to this. This is much better, trust me.

  • buy a capture card. i have one and i make a lot of my machinimas with it. to see the quality watch my videos. the halo 3 ones.

  • if you have large collection of VHS tapes you want to dub onto DVD, don't bother with software and computer. Just get dvd stationary dvd recorder. faster and cheaper

  • this product is shit !

  • What i need all things ?

  • Comment removed

  • You will need a VCR, cable to connect vcr to capture device, a DVD burner on your computer
