yeah but surely that also means that if a non believer confesses with his mouth that jesus is lord and believe it in their heart (this is aka the sinners prayer confessing and inviting god into your heart) then they will also be saved?
Actually, "If your confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", talking about a different subject. When Paul wrote Romans, He was adressing believers. In the context to the verse quoted - He was talking to believers on how to escape God's Wrath. The quote I quoted above is saying you can escape God's wrath, HERE ON EARTH, by living a godly life, and believing in Jesus is escaping God's wrath, AFTER DEATH.
