@SvantteBoy Hi there, that bit is not sweep picking, it's a combination of hammer ons and string skipping and then a quick slide of a note up and down at the top with my pinky. When played fast it sounds quite confusing, but that was my interpretation of how the solo goes as I learned it by ear.

@eldarbiton You just need a high definition camera to get good visual quality, and I actually record the guitar into garage band so the camera is not picking up any sound. When I go back later I match up my audio track with the video. And it's not going to sound good unless you play very clean and tight, so it also comes down to practice and your playing ability.

I just tried to put up a cover that wasn't yet on Youtube, everyone else's version seemed to have muffled notes or their amp was on the floor etc. and it's quite difficult when u record straight into your computer, as there is no room for error or off notes :-D

@StallionTTT Kirk doesn't suck. He is just a very average player compared to other lead guitarists in metal. With Metallica, there is a certain respect you give to such a band who revolutionised an era and without them the bands you like today would never be around. It's easy for you to type KIRK SUCKS but you could maybe upload a video of yourself playing the whole solo to "hit the lights"? Or even Master of Puppets from start to finish? Kirk does that no problems.

He openly admits his interests drifted to jazz and blues guitar, and unfortunately he thinks that will cut it when he applies that to Metallica, but sadly it doesn't. His puzzling affair with the wah pedal is like he's trying to rely on it for expression as his own musical ideas for solos have run out

@dimebag116 .....He almost exclusively sticks to pentatonics, especially from Black album onwards. His vibrato is nervous sounding and shrill, and his phrasing is often not well thought out. HOWEVER, that was not my point at all. I was referring to Metallica as a whole band, what they have done for music and the fact that Kirk has played a part in that revolution. Even through the poorer solos he has done, there are some absolute gems in there with great ideas that inspired millions to play..
