  • The AL are a bunch of illiterate assholes. So is the BNP, but not as much the AL.

The army doesn't contribute much to the country, see the size of the army officer's bellies? Yeah that pretty much sums them up.

But boy, those AL people are a classic. A truly rotten one.

I hope our country prospers in the end, we have endured so many hardships. We are enduring them now, and somehow I feel there is more to come.

    God sees and knows all.

  • YOUTUBE WAS BENNED FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER THIS INCIDENT...ANY GUESS WHY?

  • HASINA IS A MURDERER. SHE WILL PAY FOR THIS!

  • ARE THESE ARMY OFFICERS--DO THEY HAVE ANY SEVICE RULES--THEY WERE COMMANDING OFFICERS--THEY FAILED IN DISCHARGING THEIR DUTIES--PERSON WHO FAILED TO PROTECT THEMSELVES--CAN THEY PROTECT US.

THESE OFFICERS MISBEHAVING WITH PM--IF ARMY ACTION TAKEN--THOUSANDS WOULD HAVE DIED AND THESE MEN WANTED THAT.

THESE UNRULY OFFICERS ARE NOT FIT TO BE OFFICER--

  • Has there been any trial for True Patriots like Nawab Sirajuddoula and Tipu Sultan? its centuries old histories of Traitors and traits.

  • BDR mutiny totaly done by the distressed banladeshi jowan, Bangladesh army is such a organization they are never or ever take over any loss, listen their voice how they are crying like coward. Do you remain that they will achieve result in favour iour country? They are doing job for UN mission, rationing , alloted plot, flat, this shame is all of us.

  • How dare are the army officer of Bangladesh? They thing they are all all in Bangladesh. The BDR Mutiny was the consequences of Army's suppression over the BDR. There is no need of Army in Bangladesh. We should abolish them.

  • @kallol1234564 fuck you army all for bangladesh!!

  • @gun1245 fuck the army officers who r continuously fucking our country...

  • @gun1245 @gun1245 fuck the army officers who r continuously fucking our country...

  • The army ltd. co. of bangladesh has rightly served for their deeds since 1972. To them all the countrymen r bloody civilians! Their torture to DU teachers and students after 1/11. DG shakil was known to be a looter and all the army officers of this counrty are more interested for money than professionalism. They grabbed more civilian posts for honey and butter. They destroyed all the civil instutions of this country. They must learn from this. changing name and uniform is a eyewash.

  • The main criminal is Gen. Moin who collaborated with BAL to kill the best of our people. These criminals have to be punished.

  • what r u talking about? In bangladesh since long one killing another if get chance.you saw well how police droiove over demonstrators during 1-11.the problem is only one place and that is bengalees discriminating bengalees. What is chnaged rwally?ritish discriminated bengalees, pakisdtanis discriminated us, now bengalees discriminating bengalis, high low rank ,bdr militery, militery civil.any change really?

  • wat the hell..hasina is a prime minister..and she cant handle the situation...showing dumd point..

  • It weren't over pay dispute, these monkeys were used in conspiracy to weaken defenses of Bangladesh by killing it's best. I wish dad had let me keep my bangladeshi citizenship. I would love to join the bangladesh military, this is a time when the Mother Nation needs her sons and daughters to answer her call. We need to rid of these relics that have occupied the leadership like some devine destiny. Bangladesh is a young country run by people who have out lived their time.

  • wud u plz show ur ass HASINA I just wanna kick........I can't fuck u..better my dog....

  • Bangladesh is a country full of idiots, criminals, stupids and illiterate. This pogrom has been executed by BAL and its leader Hasina.

  • This is a part of the sinister design to demolish the armed forces of Bangladesh was a part of Joy and Mr Ciovacco's joint venture work.

  • I mourn for the incident happened months ago but to be honest I was glad to know that the bloody army was taught a lesson. They always had interests in politics; they killed Seik Mujib, killed Zia & never stopped enying- ruling the contry.

  • PM kept cool and dealt with the situation well.

  • army is very proud and posh. they are very much cash rich compare to doctors engineers bankers!!!!????

  • And for the imbeciles who cling into one party or the other, both parties are controlled by illiterate financial terrorists.

We're cursed with these evil people.

The Awami League is behind this mutiny. The reason is simple enough, the AL wants to replace military leadership with their own people.

  • IMPERIALISM vs. Sinicization = Bangladesh a vessel state

    India's caged neighbor

    Burma's Brown fear

    Israel's Muslim foes

    West's cheap labor

    Non-Bengali's Bengali hatred

Buffer Zone or a WANNA BE VESSEL STATE?

  • It is never too late to look inward and find our own flaws than act like being innocent victims, who have failed to grow up for past 38 years. People have been murdered right and left and some part of the population seem to enjoy the murderous culture of the country because nothing else is exciting. Ask why we deserve respect from other countries? Have we done anything that we can be proud of? Just one example, please? Politicians/Military/BDR, all have failed us miserably!

  • And, she shouldn't be addressed as "Honorable PM"? That whore has no honor...

  • goooooodaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Why couldn't someone just beat the crap out of that bitch Hasian and end the misery of Bangladesh?

  • please go to part 04 of this video and check my comments, thank you

  • "What lasting impact the conflict will have on a still fragile civilian government depends on whether, and how swiftly, Mrs. Hasinas administration can assuage the grievances of the paramilitary border forces without upsetting the military leadership." New York Times.

Pakistan syndrome? But the elephant in the room was not created yesterday. Both major parties have mismanaged the country so much in the past that it is hard to see how the PM would deal with the problem when so much in stake?

Yeah, tell us why you think Hasina is a terrorist? Tell us why you think army's living condition is poor in comparison to other Bangladeshi citizens? A 5th grader should be able to elaborate his or her opinions. Would you? I dare you or get lost!

  • hey idiot, you can't even make cogent argument let alone know your country or the army. By the way, I am a male and I can take care of coward like you and your sisters. Let me guess, you are another uneducated Bangladeshi seeking asylum in Canada on false ground?

Army owns Bangladesh, you moron! What word you do not understand?

  • hello MR. EDUCATED madmonsoon... i think hasina has given u a job which we call in Bangla, DALAL.... why do u feel like she is the 1 man army... and what she does is goo for the country...?? i cant help my self to tell u a sentence in bangla... "dalali korar r jayga paw na...??" 99% of the politicians r corrupted bastards... they can destroy the country just for money... i believe u r 1 of their dalal... and watch ur language... dont try to b too smart...

  • Very simple! She is your elected PM! If you want to follow the rules of democracy, you need to put up with her rule. She has the mandate from the people! If she commits any crime, you will have the chance to move her from that position. I am not sure where you get that 99% number. Please provide the reference for us. I am only ventilating my opinions about current situation. You have all the rights to disagree with me. Instead of personal attacks, please put forward your thinkings. Be civil...

  • Bangladesh is a failed state run by and for the criminal mafia.

Democracy in Bangladesh is a farce. A joke. All these politicians, including their families and supporters, need to be exterminated like the cockroaches they are.

  • This is really shameful for hasina, the talkative lady.

  • What else would she do? Surrender to bunch of bullies? Have some respect for your government as a institution whether you like or not it's politics.

  • Thanks for a true picture of the events most important in our hiostoryt. Thanks to PM not to burgain with army and very much thanks to Army officers for not taking chance of launching MARSHALL LAW. It would be very serious for our nations pride and democracy. Dr. SAIFUL .

  • Cold busted. Good enough for the bastard. None of us are truly free. Just think about it.

  • it's really sorrowful to bring politics ( AL , BNP stuffz) here when the conspiracy is against our nation and democracy . In the audio there are many unabashed statements uttered by some army officers, which is beyond the scope of discussion within 500 characters.

    @ osman2256 and msn025

I don't hav time and wish to discuss with stupid blind peoples over here .. PM of 150 million ppl insulted.. she is ur PM too ... shame on u and the ppl having brain at knees.

  • kot, the monster was created with the killing of Bongobhandu. Gen. Zia met same fate as he came to the scene with blood in his hand. Ershad got away alive in time because Washington stopped supporting all he petty corrupt dictators at that time. You got two women leaders. who basically are not very intelligent but there because of their family names. The idiotic Jamat still thinks it can revive the nostalgic feelings of East Pakistan and all problems be solved. What left is a powerful army!

  • Sheikh Hasina has shown her courage and leadership quality facing the furious fired Army officers. This meeting has saved BD.

  • Bullshit...

  • Watch my video:India and Bangladesh: Lets Unite Both countries

  • Excuse me, I don't want Bangladesh to be a part of India, thank you very much. Why on earth do you want to unite us with them??!

  • Shini, please ignore that idiot ass Tmir, he is a self-proclaimed rajakar, who thinks Bangladeshis are not Muslims and not doing enough for his fatherland Pakistan let alone for Osama. His grandfather salimullah wanted to make Bangladesh a pure Muslim country but could not finish that divine job because Bangladeshis chose Bongobhandu as their leader. What he says is not what he means. He was only mocking people to watch his pathetic videos. A disgusting human turd!

  • mad, the guy has deep hatred for Bangladeshis for being independent and showing very little regard for Pak. Since Bangladesh is not pure enough Muslim, he would rather see it merged with India. He is probably thinking about the creation of mythical ummah? I am sure he is also thinking about Pakistan being merged with Iran and other middle eastern countries , if that would save Pak from loosing Balochistan, NWFP and Swat valley. Another idiot on the loose, I suppose?

  • Brother drac, it is high time to move forward with things that are important for Bangladesh. Bangladesh needs a super stable government, who should be serving the country irrespectively whether you are a poor farmer or an army general. There have been too many mistakes in the past, people have been murdered and Bangladesh has been used as personal property of certain people. Bangladesh needs a strong civilian intelligence agency comparable to CIA so that nobody dares to torpedo its progress.

  • least to say that you are naive. A new stronger intell agency would not survive a day without being politicized or militarized. The elephant in the house is ARMY and only it can dictate where Bangladesh should be going. The political leadership is weak and inept to push for any real changes that country needs. I hope I am wrong, my friend.

  • drac, I hope I am not beating a dead horse? It is difficult to guess what had been going on between the government and army since the mutiny. The anger has been ventilated adequately as we know now but do we really know what's been cooking at this point. Doing nothing is not an option for the government since the same thing can happen again with so many actors are still on the loose. Hasina's pro-India policy is may be the real thorn for many religious zealots, who would love to see her fail?

  • Hell No

  • @madmonsoon, I feel that PegasusAside has been trying to give his comments the same way we Bangladeshis do sometime, being emotional and angry with the traditional corrupt politics. Can't we be communal rather than being personal?

@PegasusAside, you are welcome here as a part of our community, I guess it is altogether a different matter if I agree with you or not. But, I agree that looking at the history of our traditional politics, most of them are crooks and deserve severe judgment...

  • mdniaz, I did praise peg for raising some critical issues but I am not sure BDR mutiny is somehow connected to the newly elected members being crooks. I am sorry I do not see the connections. BDR and army feud has been brewing for long time and I am surprised nobody could see this coming. I would start with intelligence agency to find out whether people who are working for the agency are truly competent. Fire whoever needs to be fired! This mutiny is not politicians fault.

  • madmonsoon, thank you. When I understand what you are saying, I do have some thoughts you might consider useful. The incident regarding the BDR mutiny is not completely isolated from my point of view. As a country, all the sub-systems (education, security etc.) are supposed to run under well defined frameworks. The sub-systems themselves are responsible for running the frameworks, as well as suggestions regarding any necessary modifications. Also, these sub-systems are not isolated as well....

  • Agree, the country is not run by competent people. They might not be crooks but they do not have the vision or competence to run the country. The question remains, who will take Bangladesh to the next stage. Bangladeshi people are in general good people and they do deserve better government. BDR and army clash is just one symptom among many others that yet to surface. If we start treating new government as incompetent, I am not sure what would be the alternative? Any Mandela around?

  • Agree, they should be given more time before being criticized badly. But, I guess we should not be too soft as well (forgiveness is a virtue, but reality hurts.....). As Bangladeshis, we must carry on our own little contributions to the well beings of our motherland....

  • I think the current leadership has learned from its past mistakes. If anybody gets caught with wrongdoing, he or she will be fired instantly. That is how the new government should work from now and on. Since Bangladeshis got the taste of voting, they too will keep the government's feet on the fire. At this point, I do not have any good reason to criticize the new government. PM has handled the army meeting very well and that should give her enough confidence to strengthen her position furter.

  • Many of the frameworks overlap; e.g. monitoring, finance, enforcement etc. Now, who is responsible for the start of the developments of these frameworks? When many other entities are responsible, it is the politicians and the parliament who need to decide first and start working with these. Frameworks regarding our BDR, Army were/are supposed to be implemented the same way. As isolated as these entities are, they must fall under some frameworks and the politicians have failed to ensure that.

  • We have heard that these problems between BDR and Army have been brewing over for quite a long time (e.g. living condition, salary, ration). Why? Because there is no proper framework in place to ensure that everything is being done the way it should be. Now, doesn't that make the politicians responsible directly? Will it be wrong to blame the corrupt politicians for not ensuring that a system has been developed? Specially when they are the formal ombudsman of the country? Everything overlaps...

  • For what?

  • @aapelbuet bhai r koyek din opekha koren army govt er control e chole asbene karon govt tar mama, khalu, chacha, fufu, nana, nani, dada, dadi bla bla bla.................................. bosache.

  • Does Bangladesh really need this army?

  • yes it does

  • very unfortunate to hear such indisciplined approach of so called Disciplined Army. The Army must come under govt control. They are alredy out of control!! Very alarming signal for the country ...

  • The upper class in Bangladesh isn't that big. People know each other. I know many law makers from both parties. They are crooks.

Does it matter that some law makers *may* not be crooks. No! You have to look at what they are doing as a whole; e.g. clawing back their duty free cars.

Can we not talk about Bangladesh because other countries are corrupt. No! We have to advance Bangladesh.

Should we not talk about this gov as it is new? No! Challenge them now on all crimes!

  • Yes, you can discuss about Bangladesh as much as you want. What I do not like is your lack of civility. If you are an EU citizen of Bangladeshi origin, that makes you a different animal. But I would not generalize any group of people as crooks or criminals. That is outrageous and wrong. If you had any basic EU education, you should know better because I too was educated in Europe. Bangladesh is nascent democracy. It needs to crawl before it can start walking. Continued...

  • You do not advance a country by calling names. You should come down from your high horses and provide the solutions for how things can be improved in Bagladesh. I am sure Bangladeshi people will appreciate your constructive inputs. As I have seen so far from your posts, You got nothing of that kind. Nada!

  • Crazy, you got some crazy ideas but the are interesting and should be considered by investigative body. I think BDR people probably got fed up for not being treated as par with army. If you listen carefully witnesses, you would notice the BDR savagery is beyond the problem of simple grudge. BDR people simply become insane. They were not thinking about their future at all. I do not think India or Pakistan involved here.

  • @madmonsoon! Thanks for ur reply and also thanks to considered my ideas as interesting. Lets see what happen next ...

  • Thanks for thanks. Being little crazy is not too bad! That is how you can keep your thoughts sharper. Keep writing!

  • A lot of Hindu owned land that was grabbed in 1971 still hasnt been handed back. One of my Hindu friends is still trying to get land which was grabbed by a gangster in 1971

We can all get along well if we try to understand each other personally rather than in the frame work that politicians set out for us.

  • I know many Hindus in Bangladesh. They are totally discriminated against. Some of my Hindu friends are Doctors at medical hospitals. When they go for promotion they find it tough to get advancement. Even when they request leave (they need government permission to leave the country being government officers) a Hindu name ensures that any request will be cut short.

  • not really,, i know 2 men in the army.. both of them are top rank army officers VIP.. i m not gona say their ranks as such ...

  • vis-a-vie Bangladesh-India relations, I believe that if the ordinary people of India realised how Bangladesh, and other neighbours of India, is treated in trade they would want to India to act more fairly. SAARC allows Bangladesh to send many categories of goods to India which Bangladesh *doesn't* produce, but very few it does produce. When I put this to the Indian Ambassador he just said that Bangladesh didn't negotiate well.

  • The army were not ready for the emergency when it cropped up. We saw the same thing in Mumbai when it took (12 hours?) for the commandos to turn up.

The army did a fantastic job running the country for the past couple of years. They cleaned up a lot of corruption and generally made life easier.

Now we have another government of thieves. I can understand the army speaking in this way to Sheikh Hasina. They know that she is essentially leading a gang of crooks. Emotions were also running high.

  • You have some good points but I would not generalize all parliamentary member as being crooks. That is not a fair comment. If you tell me about your country of origin, I will be able name plenty of crooks in your country. Yes, crooks are every where. I am sure you are aware of Enron, Worlcom and current wall st meltdown from mortgage-backed security's scandal. Please refrain from generalizing Bangladeshis. This government is only few months old and you already know that they are all crooks?

  • I'm a European living in Bangladesh. I love the people here. I'm sure I'd feel the same way about Indian people if I lived in India.

On this occasion I think Sheikh Hasina did a fantastic job. She stopped the army killing thousands of people and creating terrible publicity for Bangladesh. The army had Quad anti-aircraft canons trained on the camp. This would have been a massacre. As it is, this news will slip into the background and be forgotten quickly..

  • There are multiple things going on. Bangladesh is suffering because of what is going on in Pakistan. Pakistan and ISI now have intelligence assets within BDR. They are trying to turn Bangladesh into a strategic asset against India because right now, Balochistan is on it's way to becoming independent and Sindh may declare independence as well. Northern Areas of Kashmir wants to return to India and get out of turmoil in Pak.

  • how can I download this?

  • Go to google search. search for "free you tube downloader". You will get many. Download and install one.Thats all.

  • Smile, you are wrong about Mr. Islam. This is truly great that we know what's going on between government and military. Actually, it is not too bad that army officers could ventilate their anger. Mr. Islam is true patriot and he should be praised for his courage. If you want to put everything under the rug, that would be temporary gain for certain people but eventually things will explode. Would you prefer that? Transparency is the best way to go!

  • doesn,t know how to raise issue gently.this is that!!!!!

    repect people ,

kudos to hasina not to send the army to bdr otherwise ii wld be massacre of thousandas.

  • Seems like the youtube ban has been lifted by the govt.....

  • You need treatment for your jaundiced mentality. Why should India try to make Bangladesh weak? Had Bangladesh been economically and otherwise stronger, India could have got extended market. Developed B'desh implies greater benefit to India. Moreover, is not Bangladesh already too weak to compare with Indian economic strength, military might, intellectual ability, standard of research, advancement in pol system, cultural expression, social aptitude in accepting diversity, performance in sport?

  • Could you mention any area where India feels threaten for B'desh's advancement? Could you give an example which proves that India plans to make Bangladesh weak? On the contrary, India can give many such examples where B'desh is a party to the conspiracy against India. 10 trucks arms is one such recent example. Khaleda Zia openly declares secessionist of North_East as freedom fighter. Many important B'desh leaders speak like this everyday. Indian leaders hardly refer the name of B'desh.

  • Indian leaders- regional not national- need to refer B'desh only with reference to smuggling. Everybody knows that it is a menace. Even one army officer of B'desh said that one of the causes of BDR mutiny could have been the attempt of army to minimize border smuggling. Who smuggles Phencydil from India? You should know that P'cydil is not a banned drug -openly available in any drug store in India. Anybody can get it if he wants. Why it creates problem in B'desh we dont understand.

  • India always wants to extend his helping hands in spite of ungratefulness of B'desh. We gave you Tinbigha corridor against the interest of local people. Do you know that two volunteers of anti-corridor movement died in police firing? In spite of that Govt. allowed corridor to B'desh. India allowed export-tariff free 80 lakh piece of garments. Now B'desh demands that not only the export-tariff but also the VAT should not be imposed. How funny? VAT is domestic duty and under state jurisdiction.

  • Hasina is a great actor...if she join Dhaliwood i thing she will be a world famus actor.

Now Hasina trying to fit a powerfull glass on our eyes.this glass only show Hasina is a Angel. i thing she will be successfully done this.

  • I think there is nothing wrong with the meeting. It is very likely that all the army officers were quite furious and frustrated because they could not even try saving their officers. We cannot blame them. Also, PM Sheikh Hasina realized their emotions and responded accordingly. I think even if it was Khaleda Zia or someone else there in the chair of PM they would have been in the same condition.

  • I could not listen to it carefully but I want to ask a question... the video leaked ... ok.... so why the Goverment trying to ban Youtube in bangladesh? Only because so that we cannot see the video?

  • Any country of SE Asia can no longer afford to dissipate their energy in these wasteful internal discords. There are important issues at stake like economic recession, competition in export market, energy crisis, unemployment, global warming and building better future for generations to come.

  • Hasina Is FUkced ....

  • Some of the comment here are really silly to say the least.

Either it is done by ISI & Pakistan or it is RAW & India !!!!!!

Not that I am ruling anything out, but surely most of the perpetrators and victims were Bangladeshis!

When will we stop blaming others and take responsibility for our own actions?

There have been too much useless bloodshed in the country and especially in the army for decades! We have to clean the mess at home before peeking into others!

These also seems to be a lot of "Off Topic" discussion related to India and communal riots of past...Gentlemen, please be relevant....

  • The Bangladesh Army is not only a disgrace to the nation, but also to the entire world. See how these so called "Officers" speaks to their Head of State. Can you imagine that an US Army Officer speak to the President in that manner, no matter how severe the tragedy is. These BD Army Officers need to behave like an "Officer and a Gentleman" no matter what the situation is.

I would give great credit to the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for being "calm and balanced"....

  • I agree with the comment below that the rogue BD Army Officers who secretly taped these conversations are in violation of army code of conduct. Yes, they are "the enemy of the State of Bangladesh"

  • Bad things happen everywhere, regardless in Bangladesh or in India. But, if a society is tolerant enough is judged by the history, numbers, figures compared to the other civilized societies. Indians are claiming to be a tolerant society, let's have a look at the following figures. As the text is too big, I will have to split it into 3 separate comments:

  • this is really very sad, i stayed in dhaka for 10yrs and its my 2nd home,i just left dhaka 4yrs ago since i didnt have a choice to choose,my company sent me to another place but my heart still belongs to bangladesh.

i hope everything will be ok soon,

may our God bless and help people in bangladesh.

  • OMG !! Hasina needs to step down !! she is a shameless loser !!! She could have easily saved the children and women !! we blamed Pakistan for raping our women !!! .. but she re-made history ... she did that to the military b.c they killed her family .. how do u think someone who lost her family in the hands of the Bangladeshi military ..will love Bangladesh

  • @mdniaz

yes, some of they may have been chivalrous, but you in your umpteen comments have also exposed your hate for India and Indians.

THAT after we saved your ass, and helped your mom and sis from getting raped and then brutally murdered. A little gratitude will go a long way.

    B'desh and secular! BLAH!

% of Hindus in Bdesh: 28% in 1941

% of Hindus in Bdesh: 22.05% in 1951

% of Hindus in Bdesh: 9.2% in current.

religious intolerance in india is political and statistically insignificant.

  • Listen, in our country, Hindus are given equal, I say EQUAL, rights and that's the truth. It's 100% better compared to how it is in India. In India, Muslims are deprived of their rights. They don't get into proper positions in their jobs. The Hindus are given top priority in everything. It's religious discrimination there. That's the TRUTH ABOUT INDIA. How do I know? I have relatives in India, and yes, they are Indians.

  • In Bangladesh, everyone is treated EQUALLY according to their talents, not their skin, nor their religion, nor their beliefs. How do I know? We have some Hindu neighbours in Bangladesh and they seem very much untroubled, FYI. Moreover, the decrease in the number of Hindus in Bangladesh is due to the fact that most of them went to India during '71 and settled there and some of them swapped with Muslims of West Bengal eariler after '47.

  • This comments section makes very sad reading. Just goes to show that people are always inclined towards self destruction more than anything else.

  • this hasina never worths to be a chief of commander of a freedom sovereign country

  • sorry !!! its not "USA" that chief of commander will be a prime minster !!!! its not work like that !! it should but it doesn't ... everybody afraid of our Army !!! its very sad!!

  • Mr.mdniaz? why you are bringing hindu-muslim? We all same man. If we cannot bring equality in BD, then there will be more figthing and war in BD.

  • Shumon, I am only replying one of the Indian guys. When I never think about this Hindu-Muslim problems, they are mentioning that this is what we do. So, I must tell them that we don't, infact, they do.......right?

  • Even if you speak of Hindu-Muslims problems, show me a serious case of a single riot in the East Pakistan or Bangladesh history. Abd, consult, on the other hand, the rioting history in present day political India, including W. Bengal. Then tell me what the facts say and what your opinion about this, with facts......

  • Very interesting. I suppose you do not know history to the extent a primary student should know. Have you heard Noakhali riot in 1946 and what barbarism muslims did at that time? Gandhiji spent 46 days on peace mission at Noakhali. His secretary informed on 12/11/46 that "Even in several places women are taken at night and returned in the morning". Situation was same in Kumilla. What happened after the election of 2001? Why Taslima wrote Lajja? What is the % of hindu population in B'desh now?

  • @banglaekushe: Again you are showing a double face giving us one sided (dishonest intent) information. Noakhali riot (Oct 10, 46) began as a reaction of the Calcutta riot (Sep 17, 46). Casualties:

    Calcutta: 4000 (official)

    Noakhali: 200 (official)

A person who hides information intentionally is a LIAR.....

  • mdniaz, the riot you are mentioning is known as "Great Calcutta Killing". It was initiated by Suhrawardy, the then prime minister of Bengal, in support of "Direct Action" call given by Jinah (Muslim League). One enquiry commission was constituted but the report was not published by Suhrawardy. All national news papers and govt. officials said that Suhrawardy himself directed police and other forces to continue killing from the control room of Lalbazar. Where you get 200 casualties?

  • I do not want to hide any fact. I do not understand how a civilized man can defend Noakhali atrocities as it was a reaction of Calcutta. It implies that you support "Even in several places women are taken at night and returned in the morning". Horrifying. Do you know that Noakhali riot was infamious for "moral extermination". Uncountable Hindu women were looted and forcefully married. Hindu men were forced to eat cow meat.

  • Wwhen riot started in Bihar - Nehru, Rajendraprasad and all Congress leaders rushed to Bihar, stayed there and stopped riot. Which Muslim leader went to Noakhali? Just for the partition they wanted riot which then justified their demand. Muslim League had to have evidences that two communities can not live with peace and harmony. By Cacutta and Noakhali riot ML leader Jinnah wanted to make it certain that there would be no hesitation even from Congress to accept partition.

  • If you need some more facts and want not to hide anything read J B Kripalani's Autobiography. He spent several months in Noakhali at that time, volunteered to establish peace with his wife. He was sent there by Gandhiji before his visit. Kripalani was the Congress president at that time.

  • banglaekushe, I was not born at that time, so, it is not my personal opinion that it was an aftermath of Calcutta riot. Go to Wikipedia, see for yourself:

    Direct_Action_Day

I am not defending a riot, all killings are against humanity. And, why are you still talking about Hindu leaders and Muslim leaders? If you really want to know the hearts of the people, you must rise above the games of the politicians and media. Bangladesh is not Pakistan, don't mix it up and don't make it up....

  • Comment removed

  • Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun needs to be more active and act like a home minister.

  • Again, when India declares itself as a secular country, it was a Hindu and Buddhist country even few hundred years ago. From your own arguments, then you are not part of that ancient culture anymore, right? When the sub-continent had been divided, the names had changed of course, but, who gave you the authority to decide about the cultural heritage of the people? Politicians??!!! My request, don't be partial, please speak the whole truth. Truth about yourself, and if you may, truth about others.

  • I think that you missed the point of drishyapat. India was never a hindu or budhist country. Indian tradition was tolerence- Hindu, Budhist, Jains, Sikhs, Baisnavs India adore Christans, Jews, Muslim, Sufis etc etc. They contributed lot to form Indian tradition of tolerence- no doubt. But only a section of Muslims - not jews or christans- who demand seperate land and breach the century long tradition of tolerence. Who left India for this can not claim to be part of that Indian tradition.

  • I understand this is what drishyapat wants to say. Sen's book as suggested by Drishyapat may be good one to understand tradition of Indian subcontinent.

  • However I do not totally agree with the views of drishyapat.

  • Who says so? India was never declared officially a Hindu or Budhist country. Even it was not a Muslim country during Mughal period. India traditionally welcome each and every faith in his land. Thus it was quite natural that India would declare itself secular at the time of partition, although Muslims preferred to delare Pakistan as theocratic state. Our present customs, democratic practices, tolerence give us the authority to declare that we inherit the Indian cultural heritage. How u could ?

  • Guys, I have to tell you one thing first, that is, we don't hate Indians. Unfortunately, our lifestyle is governed by the media in a big way and there are always some people everywhere in these two countries who are easy to brainwash. But, yes, we do have grievances just as you do.; and of course, there are reasons for that.

  • Talking about tolerances, if you dig a little deep, you will find that this part of the sub-continent (Bangladesh) has the best track record of peace and inter-religious tolerance in the whole sub-continent and this is supported by figures and fact of many years (not only after 1947 for thousands of years). But, as the facts are easily available after 47, you might look for this yourself. We are a ethnic group (Bangladesh, W. Bengal) who that don't posses the drive to invade other groups......

  • Secondly, again you are talking about a theory that is partial. In all aspects of political science, there are two words with two different definitions....Nationality and Ethnicity. A nationality cannot change a person's Ethnicity or the vise verse, but they can overlap. You guys are from the West Bengal, I presume, and Indians of course. But when you are a Bengali, you will always be a Bengali even if the whole turns into a single country. Political division doesn't determine your ethnicity.
