  • This was shot entirely in the Philippines! :D

  • UNDERRATED!!!

  • That war, it tore families, it tore loves and it tore a whole country. After wards, no one completely won. Only loss, fear and tears left. However, I still feel lucky that the North has won, because if they haven't, VN would have been like North and South Korea - no country, just boundary, and people keep killing.

  • that green field is awesome !!!

  • In Vietnam us Americans were the bad guys and the vietneis were the good guys because we invaded Vietnam and killed and rape civillians because we thaught it was cool.

  • @Brandon20120

I see you point and yes it is true but please check your spelling. It makes your statement seem invalid. Remember innocence was lost, to both the American soldiers and MORE so the Vietnamese, who were fighting for more than a half a century for their liberation. Oliver Stone's three movies on Vietnam involve the theme of the lost of innocence. And that is quite an important condition in the result of war.

  • this trailer reduces the value of the film...this story is about not one woman but all the people who have been victims of violence and war

  • 1:32 - 2:27 love the use of the Empire of the Sun soundtrack!

  • Very sad story...but very good and interesting

  • no need to watch the film i think i just saw it all in this trailer ahaha

  • Totally mesmerised by this truly thought-provoking film. I had never heard of it prior to this day but it must rank with the best.

  • I really recommend to buy DVD with this film. There is also alternative beginning of the movie with 45 minutes of extended scenes showing birth and childhood of Le Ly and life in village.

Oliver Stone did great job in introducing of eastern culture.

  • Looks like an impressive and moving film. Im surprised its not better known.

I want to see it now

  • Saw all three Films from Oliver Stone, Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, and this and all three has a fantastic story. I recommend it

  • This reminds me of Miss Saigon.

  • SAW BORN ON FORTH JULY TONIGHT AND I WAS DEEPLY IMPRESSED BY THIS INCREDIBLE WORK DONE BY STONE!!!

  • Having seen this, I think memoirs of a geisha is extremely overrated. And YES I know that those movies really don' t have anything to do with eachother and are about very different subjects, it just came to my mind because they're both based on a true story.

  • It was a great film, because it showed not just the point of view from United States of the Vietman war, but also the point of view of this war from Vietman. It was very sad, indeed.

  • oliver stone is a god

  • las victorias duras se ganan en el corazón no en esta tierra, ni en al otra.

  • this evening i saw this movie. man wonderfull movie. it make me cry!!

  • It's one of the best movies I have ever seen. Tommy Lee Jones was AWESOME!!! A great movie, but not for the faint hearted..

  • This was such an underrated movie, and no one talks about it. I don't think I've seen this on TV. Well written and well done.

  • @forbesmh They play it on the military channel this weekend. Its a good movie

  • Sorry i dont know the name but i know where to find it, buy the Movie soundtrack or just go on wikipedia, type in "Heaven and Earth soundtrack" it should give a full list of songs/tunes, etc and their names.

  • does anyone know what the name of the soundtrack is that starts at 2:25 ?

  • @PaternoPerfect

Hey Pat, I've wondered for years what this song was from. Love it. Worked for studio marketing years ago and it came up in this trailer and several others we worked on which leads me to believe its stock audio. Since I heard it in others it may not be just for HaE (It came up in a version of "The Truman Show" we worked on). Have tried iphone apps to detect to no avail. i may be wrong but can't seem to find a source.

  • This is sad.

  • Love this movie my first time seeing it was when I was nine but it came out when I was six but good movie

  • I am proud to be vietnamese, you can't imagine the spirit of vietnamese countryland. You can't imagine the feeling when you are sitting in the middle of endless rice field and fishing small fishes, while people are working on their fields. I know that all how does it feels and wish you could try to feel the harmony too.

  • @mulanfer

I'm sure it is quite an experience.

  • Very heavy movie. Finally, the story from another viewpoint other than the U.S. Very sad, but beautiful. Soundtrack by Kitaro.

  • I heard the director is a Vietnam Vet.

  • stupid movie ever, i watched it, ain;t shit special

  • OMG! so sad, I can't wait to see it!!!!!

The USA and VietCong were criminals to these Vietnamese Civilians!

  • @newflava89AGAIN I hope english is your 2nd language... That comment makes no sense at all...

  • @supmayne1 3rd actually

  • i hate bitches that talk cutesy

  • That is Viet Cong for you, they come to your house, keep you hostages and forced you to helped them, and if you rebelled they will shot you, or worst they buried you alive.

  • @Mzbecharm and that is what you believe because of some Hollywood movies

  • I really love this movie

  • Beautiful movie! The calm music, the setting, with outstanding acting and an unusual love story...

  • ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES THAT MOST PEOPLE NEVER HEARD OF

  • @Shiore2002 And the ARVN member the ARVN rape her and tortured her

  • Worley, thanks. Can you please upload the whole movie? It looks very good! Thank you.

  • @jefframd It would be a waste to watch such a beautiful movie on the internet. Get the DVD by Jove!

  • yes yes, each grain is represent that life.

    vietnam...♥

  • Oh my Vietnam!

  • I love this movie.

  • I found this to be a very sad film. Mainly because it is true.

  • @igt23mgigt It could be on the soundtrack CD. Check it out.

  • one of my fave movies of all time..that only love can over come anything

  • @igt23mgigt - If you find out please post I've been trying to find it forever too!

  • im just happy they had the takeda clan in the film.

  • The trailer is beautiful but the movie was so brutal to watch. Rape, torture, executions, very tough film to watch and I was 10 years old when I first saw this movie back in 1994. I actually cried when I watched it.

  • @elmando5 You and I were the same age when I saw this movie! sometimes I had to seek and watch it behind my mom's back even if I would get trouble if she found out because of certain scenes in the movie at 10 years old you're not suppose to see like the rape scene and I'm sorry for some of you who didn't see the movie to give that information away lol but still it's a good movie and I hate the fact I missed buying it in a combo pack now that I'm a adult!

  • i loved this movie. i liked how heaven and earth were like two spirits both in love but fighting in the main characters life. it is a story that was beautifulluy told. it is one of the many master peices that will go down in history.

  • I really love this movie,

  • Incredible movie! Its no surprise it was a box office flop though. It was part of a trilogy. Platoon dealt with differing attitudes amongst the US soldiers to the war. Born on the 4th of July concentrated on how the veterans were largely treat on their return. Then Heaven and Earth which others have rightly pointed out dealt with the vietnamese people. I guess there's still too much anger about the war to accept this episode. That's a shame. There are always two sides to a story.

  • Sad so sad....

    Such cruelty rape and tortrue.

    Sad.

  • Great movie and also very sad. It would've been more authentic if the Vietnamese family members didn't speak English to each other though. I suppose they had to film it that way to sell it to the American people. I wish Hiep Thi Le was in more movies.

  • this was a completly unbiased film!brutally honest portrayal!loved it

  • an outstanding film.i remember watching it years ago

  • In case anyone is wondering you can find this on Netflix!!

  • True story? This is a classic!

  • Buy it or rent it. But the internet is definitely not the place to watch that film. This beautiful epic was unfairly rubbished by some critics when it was released in the 90's.

  • @hivernales I believe they did that because many were not ready to hear the truth about what was really going on in veitanam(spelled wrong i think please forgive.) and it is sad because this was a great film.

  • Will someone show me where can find this movie?

    I love it!

  • i don't know , a torrent site perhaps !

  • Será que alguém me poderá indicar onde arranjar este filme?

    adoro-o!!!
