  • Now it takes forever to complete anything that's not in my best interests. Procrastination can turn you into an awful someone. Some people might view you as an irresponsible person or just a very lazy a******. The story of my life. Thank you, Gerry.

  • I procrastinate way too much and after watching this video, I will try to change this. I know from experience that when I put off the things I could do today until tomorrow, tomorrow never comes. For example, I never write my essays until few hours before due time. The work that I produce turns out to be horrible. I have expired tickets and library books to pay for, which is terrible as well. Believe me, procrastination is a habit and I've had it for many, many years. (more)

  • I'm 20 years old and I'm filled with regret.

I grew up in poverty and never made friends.

I went to an expensive college and don't know how to pay it back.

I planned for the future and tried to be responsible, but everything always backfired.

I moved away from family and am now struggling financially.

I majored in English and can't find a job.

I couldn't go to the doctor when I was young and now I'm disproportional because I didn't know about my Vitamin D deficiency.

I feel like an old man.

  • Anxiety is a big regret, prevents one to live thoroughly.

  • i regret denying myself to fall in love

  • This is my first time coming across this video and I would like to say that you are really inspirational to me as I am a person who has always dwelled on regretts and is trying to get over them.

  • U are on awesome man...i appreciate ur videos

  • ThusSpakeSpymunk- that's a really sad story man, I can only hope you change your mind soon and start living life to the full, or at the very least are completely and unquestionably happy with the way things are at the moment.

As for myself, I'm only 17 so I don't have many years under my belt, but if I could change something it would be how I interact with people and spend my time. Had I been more sporty and outgoing I wouldn't be so shy and cynical now, so I think, but it's never too late =]

  • It's never too late, Gerry, to try new things - you should use the 'net to order these interesting foods and eat them! You won't regret what you still have time to do. As for my biggest regret, it was not doing enough to try to keep someone who I loved but who did not love me back because they said I wasn't good enough for them. I worked out to get thinner, studied to get smarter, tried to make myself look better, but in all the cases I didn't do enough. I would try harder if I had a do-over

  • I ran out of space. It was the one person I ever truly loved and I failed. I've lost out on love forever, now. I tried for 10 years to achieve the level of ability/appearance I needed to be worthwhile to this person, and then I was told it was too late and I failed and had not done enough. Now I don't really have the time left in life to build a new relationship and I'm too exhausted from the previous attempt to try. This experience has really soured me on people in general and (more)

  • also on love. It made me realize that hate is stronger than love, and that's a terrible realization to have in life. If two people love each other it makes them weaker, not stronger. Like a chemical dependence. I am half done with my life and know now that love, this thing others seem to enjoy, is a sad lie. This has been my outlook for 5 years now. I don't expect it to ever change. If only I'd never met this person, I'd be a lot better off. Better to love and lose? Never.

  • I haven't put off much, but I kinda regret that I wasn't kinder to some people during my life. Mary

  • You're are cool man, and so true...I have been bad about putting things off until tomorrow, Ill work on it.

  • Your like an online grandpa

  • I have never had regrets until the end of this school year. I decided not to audition for an accapalla group at my school because I was too nervouse, even though I knew I could make it. My friends made it and now I regret making that decision. I would have made it and it kills me inside. Now I Only have one more year left to be involved and I cnt believe I blew it. BlindLed I try.

  • Hi grandad! You are awesome!

  • i love the video thanks.

  • the young man says to the old, you have no vision, but the old man says to the young, you have no clue.

  • "I avoided it, like a politian."

Hahah! So true! You bring a smile to my face! :D

  • I regret being too shy with my previous girlfreinds, for always seeming boring to my girlfreinds, i regret loads, and some i would be major hated for :(

  • i regret most of my existance

  • Usually my motto in life is "No regrets; just lessons learned", but now I'm gonna add another one to that "Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today".

  • I regret doing badly in school, so next year I'm going to try a whole lot harder. I never really appreciated education like my parents did because my dad used to be poor. He reminds me often that school is very important, and I'm beginning to see that now! I hope it's not too late though. I'm 19.

    ~Shara

  • A friend of mine is 19 and she's just going back to get her high school diploma in september, then go to college. Pleeeeeenty of time.

  • thank you very much

  • TRUE.

That's what my grandparents told me all the times. They have been through a lot of things, so I would be dumb not to listen to them.

  • I seen this fella on crimewatch UK he was the guy behind the grassy knoll offering a mature cheddar cheese snack to all the young girls. You`ll regret it when you get caught with your grater out by the law.

  • In my opinion regrets are pointless

Everything in life happens for a reason, and even if you do regret there's nothing you can do about it so you're just wasting more of your life

I appreciate the purpose of this video that's just my opinion

    =)

    Hope you're well

    Tadhg x

  • and what gives you the impression "everything happens for a reason"? sorry, but I find that such a cliché - people repeat it all the time but there's no evidence for it

  • It's just a philosophy my friend

  • love the tie

  • I have also looked back on a lot of things and choices I have made that don't just effect me. I have alot to do, myself and I have finally turned 30 and that seems to be when I have decided that things need to change.... lol thanks for sharing .

  • I posted two video responses...the first one was the wrong one. Sorry. haha

  • I have no regrets. I have made some mistakes, yes, but I don't regret making any of them... I have enough things on my mind without regrets...

  • Yeah I'd have to say if I look back there is a lot of things I regret, but all you can do is learn from them and you know what there is always going to be a chance for a new adventure around the corner. Even when that inevitible day comes that will just be another adventure as know one can really tell you for certain what happens. So grab hold of those handlebars grandad and wind that throttle.

Good onya and look forward to seeing your your next posting.

  • Thats it then Peter, Im off around the world onthe back of a motorbike and video documenting it.

  • aww don't be afraid to look forward. You're doing such a wonderful job with the vids here. i think you've put so much meaning into all of us viewing your vids.

  • hi gerry, keep up the vids. i regret not being brave enough to put my face out there and make a you tube vid.

  • Good advice! I guess it has to do with living life as if there was no tomorrow.

I'd love to know your opinion about the recent movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

    Kind regards

  • KingDZ63 = pointless comment poster

  • Great video, very inspiring

  • Hi Gerry, Love your videos. It's nice listening to someone older and wiser than me, as I still have much to learn. I have a few regrets in life, but know these things teach me to try and be a better person.

    Best wishes to you. xXx

  • Speaking of denying opportunities that come up, ahve you seen the film Yes Man? You just made me think of that when you said about denying opportunities and that you wish you hadn't.

Speaking of food, i'm eating good old sausage and melted cheese on toast at the moment :P

  • Good man.

  • Comment removed

  • Good video again, Peter. Incidentally now that you have asked people about what they eat, how about asking what TV programmes people watch. Might be a bit dull though. I don't however watch much TV myself so maybe it's a non-starter. oh well, happy days.

  • nice video again, and nice tie :)

  • dude what computer do u use i have lots of regrets who doesnt

  • You're a cherry chappie Peter!

Pssst .. " avoid it like a politician"? .. nooo, you musn't do that ..haha!

"Don't put off til tomorrow what you can do today today" is great advice .. sometimes I think "Oh hell, just Go for It"

Apart from regrets, you must sometimes see that one persons gain can be another's regret >> For example, YOU'VE had a great time with motorcycles whereas I regret not having a motorcycle more than 200cc.

Show me a 750cc+ & Dr B will show you how to waterski! :smiles:

  • I truly believe that looking back with regret (and looking forward with it , as well) is negative thinking and has an impact on your outlook on the present and the future. We all , hopefully, learn from the choices we make. I also don't believe age should be a factor . If we tell ourselves that we Can't we Won't...

  • This was such a great video!

maybe I'll try doing everything I can while Im still young haha

  • You are an inspiration to everyone. Keep making this lovely videos =)

  • bit mean

  • heyy

    thats mean

    GOOOOO GERIATRIC

  • im 19 so i dont really have any regrets at the moment that i can think of.... no big ones anyway.

Im at the point in life where im unsure which path i want to go down or what i should do with my time as a youth as they all may have or most likely will have regrets. So as with your Vlog i am scared that i might not fit everything in that i want to do and later on when i age may have regrets on some things i should have done or should not have done.

  • Yes you are a great inspiration for us !!!!! : )

Thank you for sharing all your videos !!!!!

  • Another great video, please keep going with these. As others have said and I totally agree with them, you are a great inspiration to so many. God bless.

  • Great Video Peter. Keep up the good work. It means alot to so many of us.

  • People only see in others what they see within themselves. Forgive them for they do not have self worth or respect for others. You are a wonderful inspiration to so many people. Focus on those who love you. You are rare and wonderful. Keep up the great videos.

  • Peter, as ever your wisdom is truly valuable, You need not regret the contribution you have given to this site thats for sure!

I very much panic at the prospect of getting old. Being 23, I know being young wont last so that is why I'm off traveling for 6 months before I start my career!.

By the way, this guy masquerading as various usernames (so theroastchicken etc) is literally 1 man and his stupid, pathetic, spiteful opinion means nothing. You are what makes youtube so brilliant, keep it up!

  • Peter, i know it's probably difficult to do, but i do hope you can only but try to ignore the few pathetic, immature people who are abusive towards you here.

For every person that is abusive on here, there is a thousand more who love listening and watching you.

You are truely an inspiration and such a kind hearted soul. You remind me so much of my grampa, who passed away at christmas.

Take care Peter and i and a lot of others look foward to more of your videos. x

  • hey peter, why not re-enable the rating system?

the system has changed: any comments that get 6 thumbs down disappear for good now.

and so what if anyone plays that game of thumbing down from multiple accounts?

    i would just re-post mine.

  • Peter is already in a home, his home. Why do some of you seem to need to bother everyone. Get a life.

  • I just wanted to apologize for the rudeness of some people on here...

I always enjoy your videos. They are great food for thought! (Bad pun intended)

  • Comment removed

  • I understand that people will always have their opinion and some like to state their beliefs vocally but, do you think that you could show a little class and respect by not saying anything at all if you don't have anything nice to say? That would be really nice.

  • For many years I didn't think I had any regrets, but I do now... I guess I had to live a bit more, a bit longer..... I regret that I did not accept offers to go to one of the music conservatories that offered me full scholarship. I had such deep regret about that.... I am, however, having a very wonderful time learning traditional Irish and Scottish fiddling... so the regrets have faded away, largely.

I could probably dig around and find more to regret, but I am having a wonderful life...

  • Nice one geriatric :)

  • Never regret because at the time you did not have hind sight. 3 aspects of regret:

    1. Benjamin Disraeli (British PM) For life in general, there is but one decree; youth is a blunder, manhood a struggle, old age a regret 2. proverb: A man is not old until his regrets take the place of his dreams

The other side of the coin of you statement: 3. Aaron Burr (US Statesman) Never do today what you can as well do tomorrow, because something may occur to make you regret your premature action

  • i have a regret which seems small just now, but i didn't get my boys to sea world last year when they were 5 and 10..i can't get that back..thanks to you i will go this year no matter what.

    take care, shannon

  • I'm 22 and I don't really have many regrets, yet. I'm very guilty of not living in the moment though, I feel like I'm waiting for life to start. I've probably wasted my time at University truth be known, I'm on course for a decent degree but haven't made many friends nor attempted to. And now it's so near to leaving, I've no intention too. This is something I hope to address when I start my new life after Uni in another country, to be a more open person and make more friends.

  • Childless virgin.

  • Childless yes. Virgin? No. Ask your mother if you don't believe me.

  • You are a wonderful man, and as always a valuable contributor to what makes the net such a magical place at times. I try to live my life with as little margin for regret as possible, i find the last few years ive become more successful at this, the older one gets.. eh ;)

  • To True, Great Job!

  • Your most welcome Peter!

Don't really want to talk about regrets at the moment....but, I know we all have them.

  • I'm only 14 and I have a few regrets. Thankfully I've learned from some of them though.

  • hes like: thank u all for ur CUMMENTS

  • LOL

  • youre so lovely and also so right! i am 43 now(not OLD) i know but i am a woman so all my female attractivness has gone out the window! its so true,u dont think youll ever run out of time ,but you do!and the worse thing is still feeling 18 inside but you end up being too "inappropriate" to act on it!! u must think im stupid to feel like this now already but things are bad 4 women on the ageing front! take care luv your videos! xxxxx

  • Very well said! Btw...I am only 1 year older than you...hehehe.

  • ah yes! but i notice u are a MAN---and therefore u will become only more suave and ruggedly handsome with age!!

now,I, on the other hand will sink into decrepit obscurity with every passing year---and probly even start growing HAIRS on my chin or something!!-TRAGIC !!!!!!

  • Well, what about losing hair on the top of my head and the hair has now moved to my ears. I never thought hair would grow from the side of my ears. Shhhhh....don't let anyone know..lol. I shave them so others won't see it on my ears....lol. OH....and don't get me started on grey hair...ugh.

  • well yes ok!! fair enough!! i forgot about the unfortunate ear and NOSE hair sproutage!! and i guess at least we can dye our hair without anyone thinking anything of it !BUT--u sound like a nice man with a GSOH!,and thats the MOST important thing ever!

  • Thank you!

Yes....I do dye my hair. My friend noticed gray the other day and they said they had never seen it before....lol. I said I hadn't dyed my hair yet....lol.

  • i dont have any regrest in life... they all have lead me to where i am right now... and im very happy of where that is...

i hope my life continues to be this way :P

  • Peter, whatever you might regret, it came out right in the end. You live in a beautiful place, and you are having a great time for someone at your age (thanks to your decision to go on YouTube) . As for me, I have no regrets. Of course I made some really stupid mistakes, but if I lived it again I would still make the same mistakes because that's who I am. But it's all those good times that made it all worthwile.

  • Peter,

Your link for askgeriatric is misspelled. I just wanted to let you know. I'd regret it if I didn't! :)

  • Good show, tak178!

  • If there is one thing you have taught us Peter, it is that it is never to late to undertake any adventure in life!

  • Hello, Peter.

I am 22 years old... turning 23 this year. And I already have a regret, yaiks! I regret having not watched my body more carefully... I've got some health problems which are easy to fix, if I was not the coward I am...

    So, that's my regret.

Sorry for my bad english (if there was any).

    Hope you are fine,

    dosenpfand (<- it's a german word! :p)

  • You have helped me have a new prespective of life to live it to the max and as iam 14 this should help me in years to come

  • Thanks, Peter. It is a long time since I checked out your site, because I have been ill for quite a while. I certainly agree with your advice to not put off till tomorrow what you can do today- especially since I have had so many health problems which have kept me from doing many things I would love to. I am improving lately and have been enjoying the Crufts Dog Show on line. Which I have found quite amazing- with so many events we dont have here at the Westminster.

  • Peter, you don't really know all of us fans, but I am personally so grateful that you make these videos. Your contribution to YouTube is wonderful.

    You inspire me. Thank you.

  • I think that's very good advice. :-)

  • Interesting video, I do my best to live 'here and now'.

Life's not easy, as far as I see it I did my best in the past.

  • Have a great day!

    Much love!

  • I can't focus on the regrets. You make the best decisions with the information you have at the time. I like to look back at the good things I did. It colours my thinking, lighter not darker, and puts it in a much better light. We have to let go the negative and focus on the positive!

  • I agree with you, Peter.

I think as we age, the older we become, the more we tend to look back on certain things and wish that we acted or did something different than what we had done.

    Best Wishes!

  • the life is great ..

  • Hugs :D...Thank You

  • i regret not having found your videos sooner...haha!

i just hope i can make the most out of the time i have.

  • haha it only got posted yesterday :D

  • Your Awesome G-1927!

  • Regret only that whch you have not tried.

  • xoexo

  • life is great.

    no regrets.

  • i try to forgive myself for my past mistakes, so i dont regret that much really. i am only 20 years old though, so maybe regret is to come.

  • -I regret joining the school that I'm in right now, because its hectic and doesn't appreciate my contributions whatsoever.

-I regret not asking that girl I adored in high school because we could have had something.

But mostly, I regret having regretted anything because it truly is a waste of precious time.

We all regret things because none of us is perfect, but live goes on and eventually the decisions we make shape who we are.

  • Exelente ! ;gracias ,desde argentina.

  • My view on life is somewhat different from everyone else's. So, I don't have any regrets. What?! No regrets? That is correct. Our lives are nothing more than blips on the radar screen of time, not even that, and imperfect blips nonetheless. Yesterday I was 18, today I'm 45, and in an infintesimally small blip of time I'll be 81 and/or dead. The meaning of life is perfectly described by King Solomon of Israel in the Book of Ecclesiates. It's not a pleasant thing to think about, but it is reality.

  • I agree with cknight63 to a certain extent.

I don't regret decisions in life as I think that at any one moment in life, we make the best decisions for that particular moment knowing what we know then - we can't go back and change it, so why regret it?

As he also says, our time is short relative to the whole of time... don't waste it regretting... something to think about though... "life is short" is a slightly false statement as it's probably the longest thing that we'll all encounter.

  • Good advice.

Past regrets (I'll be trying hard to have no more) would be yrs wasted with the wrong people (partners).

But as the saying goes 'You live and learn'. J x

  • Good tip Peter.. i'm the worlds worst procrastinator and must bear the "dont put off" saying in mind :) Have a fab time with the band and dont work too hard x.

  • Regrets are something you cannot change thus I personally to think on them. Dwelling on the past is fruitless but you can change the future. Good video again even if you are from "across the pOnD" Lol

  • Its never too late to try new things Geriatic try out new things and enjoy them :)

  • I regret having never got to meet either of my Biological Grandfathers.

  • Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

  • James23TT -

True, but we live the future, the present is just our current position on the timeline. If you neglect the future and live for the moment you can end up in ruin. What you do in the present must lay foundations for the future, if you are doing that then by all means live in the moment, but always mindful of the future.

  • alas retsam19 you are correct

  • Comment removed

  • I second that wholeheartedly James23TT!

  • words for the wise .... listen wt all do respect , your ok geri*1927 if i where to get to your age i would hope i would still have brains like you do but it looks like i don't have that many years left do to my blood , ? it's tannted wt poisons an there's nothing left for me to do but wait a while then top it but there might be some things still i want to do an maybe i can , will see ...........

  • Regrets? Too many! But I look ahead now even at this late stage of my ilfe. I decided to learn Classic guitar at the age of 66 (two years ago) and I'm enjoying it a lot. It may seem like a small matter to many but I always loved music and the classic guitar was always my favorite and I always envied those who play. If you have a dream or an idea of something you want to try do it NOW!!

  • My regrets would be similar to poster dclews, I only recently began learning to play giutar in my mid fifties, I should have done it years ago when my mind was more attentive

  • I shall not focus on my regrets but look forward to my future with excitement. Thank you Peter! Great to see you. SmileyD

  • i regret not being as nice as i possibly could have been to others in my younger days

  • thank you for the advice. my biggest regret is that i didn't do well when in school. i never realized the importance and seriousness of my education. by the time i had realized this it was too late. at 28 i feel i could be so much better off had i just kept up with my school work and gone off to college. i could have realized my full potential. it's really shaped my whole life.

  • one regret i always think of is not starting clowning early enough for my grandfather to see me do it

  • I have very many regrets, but I am trying to focus on goals instead.

  • you is nice people!

  • Interesting debate thiis. My biggest regret was not learning to play the guitar until I was 50 (a few years back). Too late to become any good I'm afraid but at least I can amuse myself and pretend!

  • Interesting video advice Peter. Hopefully a few young people will take your advice.

  • I try and think about where i want to be in the next few years and that it earning a living with a good academic level of skills to help me have the best chance in life. I'm most looking forward to earning money to stand on my ow n two feet which is something I think we all desire, especially when your a student year after year having to super budget because we give up our time to study in order to be able to do the higher earning and skilled jobs.

I needed to use two comments to fit this in.

  • Hi AlanAndrewTaylor - good to see you're thinking about your future. With the benefit of some experience behind me, may I offer some advice which has proved good for me. If you're passionate enough, you can achieve most things. Be confident and go for whatever you really want to do! ..... and always live within your means!

  • thanks, I'll keep that in mind. It seems to have worked so far.

  • i always appreciate your wise words Peter.

    good day to you,

    XEM

  • very interesting, I have lots to think about at the moment, I am near the end of my two year college course and depending on university entry, I may be leaving home for the first time which is very daunting but exciting at the same time. Many new opportunities are happening to me on a weekly basis and the pace of my lifestyle is getting faster which is challenge to adapt to.

  • Oh and reach out and help where you can.

  • Thanks again Peter - very insightful and hopeful video. I don't have too many regrets, and am lucky enough to be happy at the moment. It's the small things in life that matter - not money, not possessions. My advice would be to spend a lot of time with those you love and don't harm anyone if poss.

  • Some old sayings become old sayings because there's no better way to say it!

  • You're right Peter. I'm 32 and I've spent so much time looking back up until now, to the point it's stifled and stagnated me as a person. I realise now that I should embrace what time I have left and make the most of it to fullest extent possible. Thank you for your wise words yet again and another truly thought-provoking video.

  • i'm lazy as fuck and my life is worthless
