if you got any good songs send me title/artist

    thnx

  • true music

  • "Good" hit? It's a great hit.

  • This was our song from the first time we heard it back in '69 and for the next 42 years. My husband passed away recently, but it will always be "our" song.

  • @dyad2r1 I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know exactly what you're going thru, My Robert passed away in 91, Leukemia and our song, we chose was Every Breath you take, by the police. Each time I hear it, all I want is to feel his arms around me to let me know everything will be alright. I wish you well and please know you're not alone....after 42 yrs, he's still there.

  • @SweetJoyBG - How kind of you! No one can know how hard it is unless they've been though it themselves. We were married for 48 yrs, but I feel my hubby's and the Lord's presence every miinute of every day. God bless you for sharing your story and your words of encouragement.

  • @SweetJoyBG grr, what a song! , sorry for your loss, but us men, we know were doomed by the time we are 15.

  • yvettemontoya1234 Doesn't matter that the Drifters did this one first. Their version was GREAT, BUT so is this one, and they were almost a decade apart. Jay & The Americans had one of the greatest singers from back then, Jay Black, and another who was almost as good, Kenny Vance. And The Drifters version had another great leader singer with them when they recorded it, Ben E. King.

  • wtf, i got here from my calculus 12 page

  • boo the drifters are the ones that made this song!!

  • I miss you Alison.Ill never understand why you had to die so young.

  • I love this song and I love Jay and the Americans!!

  • oh yes!

    FANTASTIC ,

    What a MAGIC MOMENT!

  • aw man hes in deep s***!

  • THIS MAGIC MOMENT-JAY AND THE AMERICANS, best group of their time!

  • This song sounds as good today as it did the first time I heard it, a long time ago.

  • @moparfan54 this song sounds as good as when your mom gargled it to me with a mouthful of hot gooey jizz freshley extracted from my fat veiny member

  • @bettaman94 - I don't know what made you decide to answer my comment this filthy bullshit, but I can only imagine you as being a lonely coward in your filthy bedroom spanking it to some kind of weird ass music. You suck, but I pity you not.

  • @moparfan54 you pity me not? oh im sorry i wasnt aware that we were in 14th century europe let me rephrase, you mum is doth know the thrust of my cock and hath partook of its salty nectar. that better? i replied to your dumbass comment because the hate i harbor for you is so strong i couldnt help but bashon your gay ass you think anyone actually cares about your old ass? im 100% positive ive done more than ur geriatric ass has in your entire life u waste of fucking space go die

  • I told this to Reznov and llook at him now..

  • @rata2296 You sound like a shouty moron. Turn Caps Lock the fuck off, spell your words out, try some punctuation on for size and stop acting like your time in the military makes you better than anyone else. It doesn't. All it means is that you were willing to serve our country.

And that's assuming you were smart enough to pass the ASVAB, which judging by your post you weren't.

  • @TestECull

Thank you mirroring my sentiments. Somehow I doubt this PUKE was in the service and probably had to look up ASVAB to see what it was. Probably had to take it verbally since it is obvious he/she doesn't know how to write. No wait, this PUKE can't talk very well either so how did he/she pass anything? Has anyone else looked back at all the garbage this PUKE was posting? Not very cool to wish the US would get hit again like on 09/11/2001.

  • This is when love was really love & when you said "I love you" it meant something.

  • @angel196990 SO TRUE SO TRUE

  • Comment removed

  • told this to my sweet heart in the back seat almost forty years ago and she asked me to get out

  • Judging by the way you write and talk I find it hard to believe you are a US citizen. There is no reason to continue to talk to someone as STUPID as you. You are a waste of air, time, and space. What an idiot! They walk among us people. Is everyone reading this garbage? I am so over wasting my time on a PIG such as yourself.

  • GRT TUNE TY TY +++++++++++

  • Learn to speak and write english when you are living in the USA, you moron. This site is not for you ignorant rantings so just move along like a good little dummy.

  • @hummingbird058 I CAN SEE KKK FROM HERE!!!! :b

  • @hummingbird058 JAJAJAJ SO STRAT AND LEARN HOW TO KISSS MY ASS

  • Great song.

  • wth f...??? they sings this wow

i really thought it was the drifters O.o

im surprise, i love this version :)

  • Someone should do a little ratata on your ass and see how you like it, now move along you creep. Maybe there is a "I love Hitler" site out there somewhere for you to go to. These remarks were for ratata2206. Not for you. That moron needs to leave the US.

  • If I were God, I wouldn't let the Bible thumpers into heaven.

  • who sings this song originally, cuz i seen so many sing this song, so i'm wondering who originally sings this. theirs one i particularly like, but i don't think its this one.

  • @Melinda1203 You may want the version done by The Drifters. Search You Tube for it.

  • @ratata2206 I hope you are not saying what I think you are saying, YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT!!! I hope someone figures out who you are and comes and kicks your sorry ass. If you don't like the U.S. do everyone a favor and leave! Too bad you weren't in one of those towers when they burned you asshole.

  • @08ggibson 1 Corinthians 6;9 states revilers (people who are abusers of mankind, people with abusive language) will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.

  • @Skyheartstar777 im pretty screwed because i cant stop swearing i have tried but something always causes me to go back to cussing like a drunken sailor

  • @mofoca22 There's a lot of that going around these days. They are demons and evil spirits that cause things like that. If you don't study about God and the spiritual realm you might not be aware of it. TRY. Start rephrasing your sentences before you type or speak. Think before you speak. Your not the only one. Everybody seems to be doing it. Do it a little at a time. This goes for anyone who needs to stop. It is the same if a person needed to stop smoking or drinking. Willpower

  • @mofoca22 Yo know when people get older they are suppose to mature and be a good example. Not many do that - it is a carefree, everyone do as they please kind of society anymore. Some people have to change and set an example so we don't have such disrespectful and wreckless ways. People have feelings and no one wants to be on the receiving end of being bullied.

  • @Skyheartstar777 So are you saying that it is okay for some sociopath and states "IT" hopes the US gets more of what happened on 09/11/2001 and nobody is supposed to tell this psychopath where to go? Why does everyone feel that the JATA site is for them to come and air their dirty laundry or spout religious phrases? Someone should do a little ratata on your ass and see how you like it, now move along you creep. Maybe there is a "I love Hitler" site out there somewhere for you to go to.

  • @hummingbird058 No I don't think it is okay. People who talk that way are hateful, radical people. We as a country have a responsibility to be a good example in all we do and not just the people in the government, but the citizens. People hate for any reason these days and there is no reason to fuel their hatred. If more people didn't accept such strong remarks and language, maybe they would be forced to change their ways. The bible passage was to teach not to use abusive language.

  • @08ggibson WHY CUZZ SOMEONE KICK USA U CALL MES STUPID U R THE STUPID PIESE OF SHIT U SAW THE WAR ONLY AT THE TV BUT NOW USA KNOWS THAN IS NOT INVENSIBLE AND ALL THE WORLD HATES THEN...SPLIT IN YOUR FLAG AND YOUR FACE ..

  • @ratata2206 You better count your blessings that the US is so lenient with assholes like you and let you have your "freedom of speech", I bet you couldn't say things like that in your backwards country without getting yourself killed or maimed. In fact, you should go back where you came from. We don't need your kind here. It is hard to take someone seriously that can't even speak or write english properly. I am sure anyone else reading your babble here just laughs at you.

  • @hummingbird058 DAAAAAAA STUD

  • @08ggibso I M US-C AND I CAN LIVE WHERE I WANT I M A REAL FREE.. NO LIKE U .. SISISHIT U ARE CRY FOR SOMETHING THEN USA DESERVED.. I WAS AT THE MILITARY I KNOW A LOT THIMKS THAN U NEVER KNOW

  • @ratata2206 Apparently basic typing skills aren't on the list.

  • @TestECull

    BRAVO!!

  • @TestECull SO??'

  • @ratata2206

you are a fuc+ing moron, do the world a favor and leave

  • @charly7769

    YEAH!! THANK YOU!!

  • @ratata2206 So two wars were started in the Mideast, hundreds of thousands of Muslims killed, suffering in Iraq and Afghanistan for generations to come- do you call this kicking the USA's ass? You're a pathetic little fool who has no understanding of the world.

  • @ratata2206 How come you have periods after each letter in the word "please"? Just curious. By the way I love this song.

  • @ratata2206 I doubt you're a citizen of the U.S.

You sound more like another one of the leeches who come in from some 3rd. world country, takes money, health care and education for free and then talks about how good their country is and how bad we are.

  • NOVEMBER 30..MANY MAGIC MOMENTS THAT I'LL NEVER FORGET OR BE ABLE TO GET OVER..NEVER TIL I WIN..AND I REALLY HAVENT WON AT ANYTHING IN LIFE, BUT THIS THE ONE THING I WILL, EVEN IT MEANS DEATH...KITTY..I WANT U THAT BADLY HONEY..DO ANYTHING TO MAKE U MINE, EVEN FOR A MINUTE AND I COULD DIE A SECOND LATER BUT I'D DIE WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE...HOW DID U DO THIS TO ME???OR HOW DID I LET IT HAPPEN??????BUT IM SOOO GLAD I DID, EVEN WITH THE HEARTBREAK..A GOOD LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ME..x0.miss u..

  • Another piece of Doc Pomus pure genius! Check out the Lou Reed version for a way different interpretation of this gem.

  • fantastic voice....a good sing in the car alone so no one can hear me struggling to hit the notes like he does. beautiful song.

  • when you had to be able to sing to be called a singer

  • Still one of the prettiest songs ever. What a voice!

  • A real rock-n-roll love song. Powerful and tender at the same time. And oh man. the memories ;)

  • told this to my sweet heart in the back seat almost forty years ago and she still my sweety to this day

  • @cc9z that's beauitful man. no homo

  • @cheesebarf808 i don't think anybody found your comment to be homo, cheesebar...

  • @Flexy319 thank you flexy. now, i'm wishing my username was cheesebar808. lol, sounds just as weird, but cleaner =p

  • O Lord, does this ever bring me back to my childhood...funny, but I always thought that love was supposed to be "romantic" , just like this song...Boy! Was I ever sadly mistaken!

  • cazzata malanga

  • @HunterGrob Do you know Jay Black (David Blatt)? Why do you say he is worthless?

  • @hummingbird058 These are Junior Soprano's s words when he shot Tony.

    NOTHIN' PERSONAL DAWG

  • @hummingbird058 Who said that?! This type of comment just makes me furious..uugghh!!

  • @HunterGrob Sooooo...are you saying that " JAY BLACK is WORTHLESS " If so, I'd like to know why you bother to look up his vidoes...just to make snotty comments. Why don't you go ahead and explain why you said that....

  • @DFbighair I didn't say that, lol. I just said CAZZATA MALANGA! Looks like you confused me with someone.

  • @HunterGrob I didn't confuse you with anyone else.... CAZZATA means WORTHLESS......and you DID say that !

    Not cool!

  • @DFbighair I didn't talk about JayB. I told 'bout this: \watch?v=p5EemO5EH0k

  • @DFbighair YOU GO GIRL!

  • @DFbighair YOU GO GIRL!

  • I simply just love this man!!! I just simply melt when I listen to Cara Mia!!! His voice is just as good, as it was when he was younger. He is an awesome performer; saw him at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia in May. Sorry that over the years he has had so many problems, as it seems so unfair for such a great guy!!!!

  • god they just don't make music like this anymore..

  • Listening to this 40 plus years later, I realize what an amazing voice on Jay. Loved their music then. appreciate it so much more now....

  • All I can say is incredible. I just saw him sing it again on the PBS show and he can still hit those high notes! He has talent and knows how to use it. Not everyone with talent knows how to use it the right way....he definitly does know!

  • All you can say is Incredible!!! It doesn't get any better than this!

  • fantastico

  • JAY IS THE BEST VOICE IN OUR LIFE. PATRICK

  • Gilbert Grape!! :] <3

  • Too bad Jay was screwed by his handlers, and now has to continue touring in his 70's, and with some apparent health concerns. He brought us some really special tunes! Rock on, Jay! Hope things get better, and you get out from under!

  • @sixtiesrockboy Jay didn't have handlers. I'm sorry to say he was a heavy unlucky gambler and blew his money. He was heavily in debt to the late John Gotti and had to sing at John Jr's wedding to lower the debt. They beat him up a few times. Also in the 1980's he married a young girl in her early 20's when he was about 50, and she took him for a bundle as well. As you may have guessed I saw all of this while it was happening over many years. As a friend I feel for him, but he did it to himself.

  • @Brooklyn50s WOW!!! That is terrible. If Jay is just a little bitter I can certainly see why; although, as you said, he did it to himself. I sure hope he has conquered some of his demons and is living a little more quietly now. We are not necessarily looking for dirty laundry on Jay, but some of us are eager to hear all that we can about him and his life. Please share more.

  • @hummingbird058 I grew up with these guys around the Kings Highway area of Brooklyn when it was a fun hangout. There was a cafeteria called Dubrows on the corner were we would meet and pick up girls :) Howie Kirshenbaum, a.k.a. Howie Kane was one of the originals and recently bought the name "Jay and the Americans" from Jay Black, a.k.a. John Blat. Howie now tours with his own version of the group. Jay will always be known for the single greatest voice of any group from the "doo wop" era.

  • @Brooklyn50s Hey, so is this restaurant called Dubrows "the restaurant" that Jay (David) was referring to in a radio station interview? How about you starting a "Brooklyn's corner" or some such thing and take us all down "your" memory lane and give us a weekly little story or anecdote from your early days about Jay (David) or other fun facts that you think we might find amusing or informative?

  • @hummingbird058 Well to answer your second question first, I don't have the time to do a regular type of report on my early days in Brooklyn and my friends, but I may from time to time post something that I think might be of interest to fans of this music and some fun stories. I am sure Jay was referring to Dubrow's on Kings Highway and east 16th street in Brooklyn in that interview. We hung out by the dozens at night and even cruised by in cars and so did the girls back then. Such innocent fun.

  • @Brooklyn50s Hi...this is Dawn .I need to chime in here. I've been talking back and forth with Grace/Hummingbird..and also Paul/Dunepaul, and I see Grace has found you and you seem to have some wonderful tidbits about Jay. Grace and I seem to be equally obsessed with Jay and his music, as well as any little thing about his life, loves, etc. I think she and I would love anything that you could add to the " Jay Story ". I think there should be a book or a movie made about him...

  • @DFbighair Hi Dawn and Grace, may I ask where you're from or where you grew up? I agree that Jay's life would make a great book,. His voice is unique in all of Rock n Roll or Doo Wop. I guess that's up to him if he ever decides to tell his story. It won't all be pretty. I used to date a girl named Ccathy Caravello who was one of Murray the K's dancing girls at his stage shows. I have some fun stories about Jay and Murray and others., but not enough letters allowed here to tell them.

  • @Brooklyn50s I grew up in the Midwest, Minneapolis MN so all of the goings on in New York/New Jersey back then seemed like another world away, but looking at old movies can give you an idea of what is was like. Yep, the good old days of just cruisin' (or walking), meeting friends, soda fountains, etc. Now the cruisin' for the young seems to be just to score a high or looking for prostitutes, so sad. Thanks for sharing some info with us, nice to go back to simpler days.

  • @hummingbird058 Whether it was Jay's doing or him being a victim of circumstance it sounds like his life was one bad episode after another. But who doesn't have baggage in their life they would like to change? Too bad we can't all be born with a packet of "Do Over" vouchers that we could redeem when we get into situations we wish we could change. You are really great that you are willing to share some of your stories to appease our curiosities.

  • @hummingbird058 I still go to a lot of Oldies shows here in New York. Many of the groups still play around the area and other states. During the summer our Parks Dept. puts on free shows at many of our beaches and parks all summer long. Kenny Vance, who was one of the original members of Jay and the Americans has his own group Kenny Vance and the Planotones. You can see and hear them at their site which YouTube wont allow me to post. Just Google Planotones and look for the official website.

  • @Brooklyn50s I also grew up in the midwest..born in Indiana, 25 years in Chicago suburbs, moved to Denver in 1976...have moved all over the country, but have been in Denver off and on for the last 30 years. My introduction to Jay and the Americans was about 1963 ( high school graduation that year, which makes me OLD ). I've been a fan for all these years and have tried to follow Jays life and career because he made such an inpression on me...

  • @Brooklyn50s Continued/Dawn/.. It's been hard to keep track of him, but with the advent of YouTube, and technology, all the adoraton I had for him back then has come full circle. I never saw him in person, but always wanted to. My daughter is moving to New York next week, and I've made her promise to go to Westbury to see him for me. If that's the closest I can get, I will be happy. I am a singer and musician, been in the business all my life..guitar and vocals..Jay is just " IT " for me...

  • @DFbighair I graduated High School a year before you in 1962. Westbury is about 20 minutes from where I live. For some reason You Tube won't allow posting a website in messages, so I'll try to sneak it in for you to follow Jay and his appearances and pictures on his website. It's jayblackthevoice dotcom lol I hope that goes thru. Let me know it you find it, hte site is small but you can e mail him there and follow his appearances.

  • @Brooklyn50s Just read some of the comments on Jay's website. Is his health getting worse? Why is he onstage in a hoveround? I went back over some of your info and was again surprised that Jay called the Gotti's "friends". God only knows what else they did to him. With friends like that who needs enemies? Do you keep in touch with Jay or anyone else from their group? Dawn....if you email Jay and actually get a response, please let me know.

  • @hummingbird058 I see Kenny Vance a lot. Mostly because he plays the New York area often. I chat with him before or after the performance. Jay is more elusive. I don't think he plays a lot these days. He has put on considerable weight. I suspect he may be on steroids for a heart condition. I don't know that for sure, but everything fits. The gambling problems with Gotti was a very long time ago. Gotti's guys just beat him up a few times when he couldn't pay. His health today isn't related.

  • @Brooklyn50s There isn't really anything on YouTube about Jay after 1980, with that show in Holland when Cara Mia was a #1 hit there...15 years after it was a hit in the U.S. He's been performing all the inbetween years, but it's odd that no one has any footage from 1980 to 2001, when he appeared on the PBS Doo Wop show. In 1980 he was sooooo skinny and his hair was very different, and.the few videos after that he was heavy..the most recent PBS show this year, he looks better, lost weight...

  • @Brooklyn50s I would hope Jay wasn't getting beat up at his age...I was just putting two ideas together in one post. So since you talk to Kenny and others are you famous by association? That would be so cool to walk around in the park and listen to bands. The closest I have come to that is Beale street in Memphis, so much fun to hear so many different blues singers, had a great time. Love how you got around the dotcom thing for Jay's site. HA!

  • @hummingbird058 lol no I'm not famous, I just happened to grow up in the same neighborhood. I am semi retired from my career as a network television cameraman. Your GF Dawn has my e mail address. You can get it from her and write me there so I can send more information to both of you without having to post on You Tube.

  • @Brooklyn50s

OH I LOVE KENNY VANCE, I MOVED FROM BROOKLYN ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM PERFORM, WISH HE WOULD PLAY WITH THE MONOTONES OUT WEST...

    .AS KENNY SAYS..........BUT I DIAGRESS...(SIC)

  • @Brooklyn50s I've looked on Jay's website for well over a year now.....I did try emailing and it seems to go off into oblivion.....not sure if he actually sees or reads that stuff...maybe " his people " do. I'd like to know who " Sandie " is.. she's in many photos with him...she appears to be his girlfriend...can you clarify? There isn't much info out there about his family, wives, loves...I would love to know more of his backstory. I wonder if you can email me directly. DFbighair@aoldotcom...

  • @DFbighair Got it, I'll send from my e mail.

  • @hummingbird058 Correction: sorry I was thinking of John "Jay" Traynor seconds ago when I mistakenly wrote John instead of David Blatt which is Jay Black's real name.

  • @Brooklyn50s That is so AWESOME! What memories you must have. I am sure you are a wealth of information. I along with many others (I am sure) who love any information on Jay and his life would love to have a sit down with you and pick your brain.

  • @hummingbird058 lol well there's not much to pick in my brain, but I will say that growing up in Brooklyn during the 50's was a time I wish kids could have experienced. In fact I've had that expressed to me by some 20 somethings on here that like this music and love to hear about what it was like during that time. I know people all over loved this music, but I think those of us growing up in the center of it with groups on every street corner lived it first hand. A wonderful time to grow up in.

  • Thumbs up if u heard this in The Sopranos!

  • Another great song by this group..............

  • FOREVER TILL THE END OF TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME

  • What version is this? I like the intro to this version more than the more familiar one; where can I find this version?

  • WOOO THE SANDLOT WHAT A GREAT MOVIE XD (great song too)

  • Nobody sings like an Eye-Tie!!! God Bless Jay and the AMERICANS!!!

  • (1969) just out of high school.Had to buy this album!!! That summer i lost my virginity...The only time in my life when loosing something was plesureable!!!

  • @georgehoop1 What a precious memory! You're a lucky lady! Weren't they GREAT!?

  • I won't ever get tired to listen this amazing song. This is the best version.

  • Lol go 'The Sandlot'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was just about 12 the first time I heard this..."Sounded Good Then" .....Sounds Good now..!

  • 33 people have never experienced a magic moment

  • O M G! Music is rarely any better than this. WOW!

  • Jay And The Americans were great at the Beacon Theatre.

  • best version of this song

  • @ButterflyofOceans I agree it's the best version! Not taking away from the others - but these vocals, guitars, and horns are unbeatable I believe!! Love the guitar intro!! Sounds Latin!

  • "THAT'S THE DEEP END!!!! AND SQUINTS CAN'T SWIM!!!!!"

  • Another good song from the oldies collection.

  • Squint's first kiss!

  • What a great opening guitar riff.

  • the theme for my boyfriend's junior prom - I was a freshman! Sh-t hot, and 14! Hard to believe I'm now 55. Remember the entire thing. Too much hairspray made the 'do' look very peculiar after four hours of dancing and partying. Dressed ALL in White, with one of those 'Dark Shadows Angelique/Victoria Winter's Hairdo'. The band (we had bands then, no djs) play Jay and the Americans all night long! 1971. Treasured memory.

  • did dion ever did a cover of this?

  • "YOU LITTLE PERVERT!"

"OH MAN HE'S IN DEEP SHIT!"

  • @DeathByBlunderbuss Where are all these quotes from?

  • @HunterGrob The movie "The Sandlot" see it it's a classic baseball movie.

  • @DeathByBlunderbuss OK, thanks.

  • This song brings back all the high school days "of yesterday"!

  • No match for Ben E King And The Drifters

  • @burnley5960 ... no match for Tony Williams and the Platters either but I don't think we compare every song to see if it's the number one group or not....just enjoy...jb

  • @chucksterberg Fair point nor do I

  • I love the horns at 1:34

  • "You'll probably never hear it when it happens."

  • @MrThaMobsta Don't stop...

  • ah....forget rap and new age pop....this is music

  • The magic of this song, was the MAGIC I grew up on this music!

    Great memories

  • Loves this
