@robbydharris I can't find the page that has the links to the files you need. If I recall though, you go to the page that has the files you need to do the partitioning. Anyhow, go to that page, and where you can download like the video says so you can to get the file that partitions your drive to a 1 and 5 GB. There is another file that will turn it back. Use it the same way as the first one, and it should put you back the way you were. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Followed your clear instructions (nice work) and after I write the img file to the SD card it pops up 2 partitions, 1 named "NooterFiles" and the other "AutoNooter2". I used the same card to Root my Nook a while back using your instructions, I have since erased and reformatted it, why would it resurrect these partitians??
So I typed in "dd if=/Users/osueyedoc/Desktop/clockwork.img of=/dev/disk1" and I get the response "dd: /dev/disk1: Resource busy". Why is my disk busy? What else could it be doing and how to I get around this? I tried using disk utility to erase and format the microSD card, but that didn't work and I keep getting the same error message. Any thoughts?
Hello everyone who is having problems. His method for unrooting completely works. Here is the problem. On a mac, it automatically opens files after downloading them. Pressing the "compress file" option is not the same. Change the settings so that the file will not be unzipped. In Safari go to preferences, general, and uncheck open safe files after downloading. This should help.
One other thing. IF you used the repartitioning method, make sure to UNDO this with the other download first (the one you didn't use). Otherwise, the Nook Color will restore, but read 0 of 0 bytes of space available so you can't download books, making the device useless. That's probably clear as mud, but just know that if you get the error can't format /data error and repartition to fix it, you must UNDO this partitioning or your Nook will show no free space.
@lspcrash Would you be able to send me more detailed instructions on how to fix this? I restored my nook color without undoing the repartitioning and now it reads 0 of 0 bytes of space available. I don't know how to change it back to the 1GB/5GB partitions that the device came with. Thanks so much!
Thanks a ton. Followed your CyanogenMod7 video, then followed this one when I got frustrated that I couldn't get the market to work. Well done. Thanks again.
When following the terminal code for getting the clockwork.img file onto the sd card, I kept getting the "no such file or directory" message. On another site I saw someone type in dd if= and then dragging the file directly from the desktop into the terminal window. It worked! you have to finish the code command of=/dev/disk1
I followed this up with a 8X interrupted boot, which served only to update the OS to 1.2.0, but not remove my data nor initiate the setup wizard. But THEN, I went into settings > device info > erase and deregister device and the NC performed an extensive reformatting/reset, rebooted with setup wizard and could be re-registered as your video shows. Hope this info helps some of your other commentators.
Whenever I try to use either Win32 Disk Imager or WinImage, it won't work. I've tried several times, but with Win32 Disk Imager, an "error 8: An error occured while trying to lock the volume." message pops up and it will not work. I have tried just dragging the .img files and continuing, but then CWM does not boot up when I turn on the Nook. Please help.
Please help me... the data would not download so it is just stuck on the nook color screen. And i couldnt download the data file when i tried to root it either. Ugh bad luck. Can someone please help me...PLzzzzzzzzzzzz
Update: I just used my 16GB card with the 8GB option for clockwork recovery. The first time I tried it, using the link in the description to clockwork recovery I got the unending "n" screen. I tried what @YourNameIsLips suggested (the other website) and tried it all again, and now it's all better!
Any advice on what to do if you used a 16 GB micro SD card to root? Do I really have to go buy another micro SD card? (the nook is all I would use it for...I really don't want to buy another one if I can avoid it...)
@Culunchu I had a similar problem, try reformatting the sd card in the computer to FAT, and unclick "quick reformat". It takes longer but it full erases everything completely, and retry. Hope that works. Good luck
I dont know what it is about my nook but i follow your videos exactly to the T and it just doesnt want to work for me. I am stuck at the N and I cant seem to get past it. It never did that before what can I do? Any idea?
