  • that intro its a cover or just a jam?

  • @indigopuntaalta thats a cover. its called Smokestack Lightning

  • I LOVEEEE PAGE'S Tele tone! it is so raunchy and fits right with jonsey deep bass growl. its funny, but even though page started using the les paul in late 1969, he didnt use it that much on led zeppelin 2 like everyone thinks. i would say he used the les paul alot on the fourth album. but not that much before than (just listen to his tone) it sounds hollow and raunchy. no, jimmy added the phase switching on his les paul after led zep. so how did he get that tone? telecaster.

    cheers

  • jesus christ i dont know where to start with bonzo

  • Man I say we kick back crack open a beer roll up a spliff and let the good times roll

  • @ramonskush am with you on that one.

  • @ramonskush Also know as 1970 !!!

  • I want to squeeze his lemon!!!!

  • @LindaMuse aha who doesn't! :D lol

  • Yeah I love this song. It's one you can actually cover in bars if you wanted if you're good enough at least. :)

  • garbeaj*

Jim does not use the les paul untill late 69'

hes using the teli that was given to him by Jeff Beck here.

  • JEEZ!!!!!!!!!!! Just listen to that double bass that is performed with just one foot!!!!!!! Best drummer ever! R.I.P.

  • nothing beats the rawness of Zep's early days. '73 and thereafter, take a hike. 1969 through 1971/72 for me.

  • @goo83 i like all their stuff...but man the early days are amazing

  • @goo83 personally y favorite concert was Royal Albert Hall 1970, i just love how raunchy Jimmy's guitar sounds.

  • @goo83 Definitely, because them was the Tele/Black Beauty years. Royal Albert Hall's Bring it on Home is easily my favourite song, probably ever.

  • Great! Thank you.

  • I was only referring to the quality of the performance of "The Lemon Song"..."For Your Love" was a separate performance, which is cool indeed:)

  • You know that is one show I haven't heard and don't have...I have seen the pics from the show where Jimmy is still playing the Telecaster-What's the source and what is the name of the boot you have? I'll search on here to see if someone has posted it...

  • Found the Whiskey version...it is good and I believe Jimmy is playing the Les Paul as he is here...I still prefer this one-band is tighter and it has the cool intro-IMHO this is still the definitive live version and the closest to the recorded version:)

  • Denmark 69

  • Howlin Wolf "Killing Floor"

  • thanks dude, this is probably the best live version I've heard. even though you can't really hear plant it seems he did a good job anyway.

  • ... thank you for the post .... much appreciated!! just lost all my zep collection ... starting over now ... great start! ;)

  • on wikipedia it says jonesy improvised the whole song when being recorded.

  • Awesome intro.

  • The intro is an old blues tune called Evil.

  • Do you have a link?

  • This is the riff that inspired Jonesy to write the riff of "Black Dog"...This to my knowledge is the best recorded version of "The Lemon Song" aka "Killing Floor" available-superb-from the Fillmore West...

  • nice fyi...thank u..nyc

  • Of course Killing Floor is Howling Wolf...but the intro is Muddy...

  • who was the bluesman?

  • It was a Muddy Waters tune from the "Electric Mud" album...

  • thanks gbj
