I know that it happened 4 times during the Dick Clark Era. It came close once, with Lauri Hendler (Gimmie a Break) after she led Mary Moffet to the top of the Pyramid for the $100,000 win. The contestent won $750.I believe that there was a 21-21 tiebreaker before the $10,000 try.
THINGS WITH A CYCLE and THINGS THAT ARE BLOCKED were tough in my honest opinion. Also note the 4th subject--that one was the one that gave Shatner the "ARRGH!" moment back in the 1970s.
How about "A spinning washing machine" or a "Harley-Davidson rider" for things with a cycle :)

A washing machine is the perfect clue for "things with a cycle". A woman's menstration might be too along with it.

Did anyone ever win $10,000 in the second half of a tournament?

Not one $10,000 was won in the tournament in the Dick Clark era and on the John Davidson era.

Is that the same episode where Bill threw the chair out of the winner's circle?

Yep, from 1977. ;-)

Thankfully, no chairs were harmed in the filming of this episode. :p

I think a perfect clue for things that are blocked would have been a writer's mind.
