How thick is the plexi glass? I also want to install a window into my case but i don't know how thick it has to be.. is 3MM enough? Or do i have to buy 4,5 or 6 MM plexi?
@maximevhw From my experiences it's normally better to use pen, paper & a ruler. I am more than capable to make a 3D model since thats what I do :P even then I'm always using pen and paper.
But the scaling etc. is best done on hard copy. Conceptualization is better done with 3D so if thats the part your doing either Blender, Wings3D or Sketchup will do the job for you.
do you know what a double sided u channel is called? i dont know what its called but the other side is used to insert the window and the other side is used for the case?
@jac37171 You should try it out with heat shrink tubing, it might work on account of it already being paper thin. You can just add a bit of glue to try and stick to the case.
i bought everythng you said and im wondering now.. will this method work with the xbox 360 slim 250gb the glossy case?? i hope so i already spent 80 dollars on the supplies :( please tell me soon so i can begin working if so
Why do you americans use like inch for measurements and all that? I can hardly understand what you are trying to say because I have to calculate everything you say into millimeters which I think is way more precise than just using inches.
@UltraVert, CHEAPEST would be "Nibbler" tool which takes extremely long time to cut with, or Tin-Snips, but you will have to deal with warping, which you can tap out with Rubber mallet. Neither is going to give you perfectly straight cuts tho. If I were you, I would call a local "Metal" supplier and just ask how much it would be to have the sheets cut for you. Tell them gauge thickness desired. That way they will be perfectly cut w/o warping. It may be cheaper than you think in the long run!
Whats the best way to get rid of the metal dust, I had tons in my 1200 after cutting a 2" by 1.5" slot in the top right drive bay. I spend a hole day going back to case every 1 -2 hours to re-vacuum it.
hello I will follow you for the past one year six super fantastic six very good, do some good work, I joined to your channel, a great big salute from 'italy
@conceptempire Yup, it just takes a lot longer but it is more then doable. Just keep cutting on your traced line as he shows in the video with the first hole.
i need some help. i have the coolermaster HAF 912 ( the one without a window) is it possible to install a window in it, cuz the side isnt completly straight, can you please help me :(
haha, I put a window in on my antec 300 case after watching this last year, my neighbors weren't too happy, I don't have a garage :( I live in an apartment and just cut out the side panel on the little balcony, man is the Jigsaw ever loud!! haha, great vids MonsterMawd
I thought this was load of shit using 3m tape to hold it in there till saw how strong it was. Then i remembered how much of a PITA the weather strip style windows is and thought "you know what it's just a window it doesn't need to be that strong any ways."
awesome video im gonna try you inspired me. Good point about you dont want to see your drive bays i hate how most stock cases have full windows or windows that show the drive bays, and if you spend a bunch of money on hardware its nice to have at least a small window so you can see if its on fire or not haha
I have a question I live overseas and i cant get my hands on u channel molding. any suggestions on how to finish edges? I also have a circle tool that came with my dremel but it doesnt give good results... any advice will be appreciated

Hey I was just wondering if there's any other way to cut the actual glass without the expensive Machine. Would I be albe to use the Jigsaw to cut the glass with out any damage.
@runsa you can cut about 1-3mm inside of the lines, and file down the rest, it should probably look clean enough (sure, you can drill a hole in it and file from there, but the more you leave from lines the more to file, but less chance of screwing it anyhow, i guess...)
@surfingzack13 you dont want to miss up with factory build pc believe me because you may do something wrong and dell wont cover it you may pay them but any way you may do it
I don't have a band saw can I use the jigsaw to cut the Plexiglas as well? Also I plan I cutting some holes. What size of hole saw do I need if I'm trying to make a 90mm hole? Do I just get a 90mm saw? Same with the 120mm. I ask cause I don't want to end up finding out that It was too big if I just got the 90mm or 120mm. And what sizes are standard for rivets for a PC case? As I plan on making some top fan holes.
i just purchased from your store everything needed to cut a window in my antec 300 case but I have one question. How do I cut a fan hole if I wanted for the side panel on the plexi glass.
@BrothersFreedive, some TV producer from New York is sending a bunch of professional TV show camera guys up here to record what I do.. that should eliminate the "shaky" cam ....I hope :)
sweet, id love to do something like this to one of my spare xbox 360s, the only thing is i dont have all the cool expensive equipment and id hate myself if i stuffed up xD

Nice video dude. I want to put a window and put a 200mm fan to the side of my case. But the problem is I want to do this to my Dell Optiplex GX280 SFF Case. To mod this case will be a challenge. Hey Guys! I need a quick answer! And i saw some of your Videos and thought! If someone could giv me a good answer , that would be you! Question: My Case has a grey Laquer on it and its not smooth (it´s like 100000 tiny stones ) And i want to paint it black and I want it smooth? Must I remove ALL OF THE LAQUER? How do i do it the best way? Please answer fast! Greetings...

@jac37171 @MonsterMawd It "works" but not well. I suggest to jac37171 you go to mnpctech, it is 100x better than cut wire/tubing.
