@maximevhw From my experiences it's normally better to use pen, paper & a ruler. I am more than capable to make a 3D model since thats what I do :P even then I'm always using pen and paper.

But the scaling etc. is best done on hard copy. Conceptualization is better done with 3D so if thats the part your doing either Blender, Wings3D or Sketchup will do the job for you.

@jac37171 @MonsterMawd It "works" but not well. I suggest to jac37171 you go to mnpctech, it is 100x better than cut wire/tubing.

I tried it many moons again when I was young, and impatient. Now I wait until I have everything required to do the mod properly the first time.

@jac37171 You should try it out with heat shrink tubing, it might work on account of it already being paper thin. You can just add a bit of glue to try and stick to the case.

Bill, what's the easiest most cost effective way to cut large diameter sheet metal at home? For a side panel and such?

@UltraVert, CHEAPEST would be "Nibbler" tool which takes extremely long time to cut with, or Tin-Snips, but you will have to deal with warping, which you can tap out with Rubber mallet. Neither is going to give you perfectly straight cuts tho. If I were you, I would call a local "Metal" supplier and just ask how much it would be to have the sheets cut for you. Tell them gauge thickness desired. That way they will be perfectly cut w/o warping. It may be cheaper than you think in the long run!

Hey Bill,

Whats the best way to get rid of the metal dust, I had tons in my 1200 after cutting a 2" by 1.5" slot in the top right drive bay. I spend a hole day going back to case every 1 -2 hours to re-vacuum it.

I thought this was load of shit using 3m tape to hold it in there till saw how strong it was. Then i remembered how much of a PITA the weather strip style windows is and thought "you know what it's just a window it doesn't need to be that strong any ways."

@runsa you can cut about 1-3mm inside of the lines, and file down the rest, it should probably look clean enough (sure, you can drill a hole in it and file from there, but the more you leave from lines the more to file, but less chance of screwing it anyhow, i guess...)

I don't have a band saw can I use the jigsaw to cut the Plexiglas as well? Also I plan I cutting some holes. What size of hole saw do I need if I'm trying to make a 90mm hole? Do I just get a 90mm saw? Same with the 120mm. I ask cause I don't want to end up finding out that It was too big if I just got the 90mm or 120mm. And what sizes are standard for rivets for a PC case? As I plan on making some top fan holes.

Nice video dude. I want to put a window and put a 200mm fan to the side of my case. But the problem is I want to do this to my Dell Optiplex GX280 SFF Case. To mod this case will be a challenge. This is my only PC and this PC makes a lot of heat. I got the case open so air will go in. If I close it, it will overheat. So I am thinking of putting a 200mm or a 120mm fan to the side.
