  • Listening to this, and watching the advertisement on the right that shows the Muppets dancing made my fucking day.

  • 2:08 WTFFFFF

  • 1:45 Haha wish i could give chicks orgasms just from playing guitar

  • 0:10 You jelly?

  • WAT THE FUCK!!!! so fucking epic insane

  • @olastrandberg Have you guys started making 6 string basses yet or is that not possible?

  • @GuitarHeaven999 the first bass is in construction at the moment (4-string), but a 6-string is next.

  • actual music happens 1:04

  • that is such a sexy guitar oh my god...

  • Them blackies have been slappin da base since the dawn of time!

  • The first minute just sounds like noise. I don't care if the technique is impressive when the only thing you produce is noise

  • @MrSputtel You need to listen to the song for context. It's called "Earth Departure". Definately an aquired taste...Took a while to grow on me. The one he plays after is called "Infinite Regression"

  • @nomis101uk OK, maybe ill do on occasion

  • @MrSputtel have you no respect for the jason beckers of our time?! shame on you

  • @misterjingles666 I didn't say that he is a bad musician. I like it that he implements uncommon techniques in his songs and uses more than the 3 lowest strings on his guitar. but the first minute of this video just doesn't sound like music to me, thats all

  • @MrSputtel

Oh my God please listen to Earth Departure off of the second Animals as Leaders album, Weightless. I adamantly urge you to do this immediately!

  • DAT TONGUE

  • @theandres771 It's his pick, hahaha. It does kinda look like he's sticking his tongue out though, lol.

  • just watch victor wooten and don't listen to this guy,, ugh it hurts my ears

  • @rjgeigersmusic It is nice to know that you think Tosin's GUITAR playing sounds like Wooten's BASS playing. It is clear that you know nothing about bands like Animals as Leaders or Periphery so I believe that it is in your best interest to preform Auto-Fellatio on yourself because your opinions shouldn't involve telling us what not to listen to.

  • @jinetika you are an idiot.. his bass technique with thumb down up as two hits and 1st finger 2nd finger as 3rd and forth hit.. he is doing this technique on guitar strings but it is still victory wootens style and a technique that made him popular...i don't mind people users techniques on different instruments, im' just saying if you want to listen to slap technique, listen to vic...

  • @rjgeigersmusic VICTORY Wooten?!?! and I'm supposed to be the idiot? LMAO. Your original comment was "just watch victor wooten and DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY" and I told you to go suck your own dick(Auto-Fellatio) because you have shown us that your musical knowledge/taste is highly inferior. I never said anything about his 1st finger, 2nd finger, which means you just like talking about irrelevant nonsense, which has nothing to do with what I said. So have a nice day, and fuck your mother.

  • @rjgeigersmusic OMG! really? u mean wooten can do something like this??? holy shit i bet no one else knew this.. thanks for the tip homie

  • @wigler420 no problem "homie" glad i could be of assistance

  • @rjgeigersmusic sure man, whatever YOU say... who fucking cares!!! Watch both if you want, or neither. What does it matter?? IT DOESN'T. Music is to be loved, not hated. Loved.. loved.. love it man, love it. there ya go.. awe yea, feels good, don't it? Ok now, spit.

  • It's as if he's just staring at the guitar and making it play.

  • I've had various lace pickups over the years. have an agile 8 string in the male. ash body, maple/maple neck. BKP is the usually my go to pickup maker these days. Curious how one of the Alumitones would do some 'shuggah.. ;)

  • @5StarDegenerateZach **in the MAIL..

  • @5StarDegenerateZach what do you have in your agile 8 i have the same specs but not happy with the aftermaths?

  • @guitaristman23 well for now its just stock since the guitar is still en route! hahaha.. But I really don't know. I'm going to give the stock Cepheus Alpha pup a shot because I've read that it is actually a decent stock pickup (a rarity indeed!). But, I'm sure GAS will come around and send me BKP way. Are you stating, for the record, that you are unhappy with your Aftermaths in your Agile 8 string? I play through a KT88 Framus Cobra, I'm think C-bomb as well.

  • @5StarDegenerateZach just for this guitar i think it would work great with darker woods the aftermath i have to single pickup intrepid

  • @guitaristman23 Ceramic Nailbomb, just to be clear... I love my Painkiller in another guitar, but think that something a little warmer with all these bright woods might be better. Plus, I just want to try another BKP. I've actually heard some clips of a Warpig 8 that sounded surprising good.. ceramic I'm assuming with that one. It depends on your rig.. are you using an Axefx or similar? If so, that is most definitely your problem, and I suggest a Black Dog 8, I shit you not!

  • @5StarDegenerateZach blackdog 8 even for heavy stuff? plus i ordered a dactivator 8 i will see what that is like before ording something else

  • @guitaristman23 sorry for the lag.. yeah man, black dog is supposed to be superb - especially if you are using something like an AxeFx or Line 6. It is actually said to be better for those "digital" application because of the warmth and balance if provides. For tube amps, I'd go with Aftermath or something similar tho.. I'm so damn curious about the D activator 8. I had the 7 string version in a shitty basswood Ibby 7321, and I didn't like it that much.

  • why are all the guitar models just numbers?

  • @neilorourke71 they are serial numbers, since each one is to order with custom specs

  • @olastrandberg So let's say I buy a Misha Mansoor #23, even though it will be that model, the number will be different?

  • @WebDevFTW yes, each one is numbered and made individually to specification. But there will soon be stock models if things go to plan.

  • If you listen really carefully, you can hear someone having an eargasm @1:45.

  • @480borat 16,000 SEK ~ 2,500 USD

  • 0:10 the look seemed to say: "i'm better than you will ever be" while still being nice about it

  • reminds me of jacko pastorius in some parts

  • @ChromiumSilver There's no delay - check the other clips with this technique. He explains it in the NAMM 2011 clip.

  • @ChromiumSilver Its called double thumbing you fuck.

  • @ChromiumSilver some people dont know what the fuck it is so chill the hell out. and from what i have read you are WRONG

  • @ChromiumSilver What delay? Don't be stupid mate!

  • @ChromiumSilver Actually Tosin's guitar work is pretty damn close to rocket science

  • @ChromiumSilver just found the videopart, which olastrandberg meant (i think): /watch?v=UFoF70lIAI0&t=1m10s

  • @ChromiumSilver It still amazes me how people can talk and be sure like if they are so correct. Nobody wants to learn everybody wants a shortcut...

  • two strokes with the thumb, 1 stroke with the pointer, and another with the middle finger. It'd be like, Down stroke (hammer on) Up stroke (with thumb), and then both up stroke with pointer and middle. That makes 5, so thats why it sounds freakin cool. The way i like to think of it, is like drum rudiments. Like a 5 stroke roll, just practice slowly!

  • I can play anything... anything beside his slaping skills... how the hell does he do that?

  • that slap technique he does is beyond my mind..i can play a lot of songs and solos, even his hard as shit stuff like inamorata, but i dont think ill ever be able to do that slap technique..i dont even try lol

  • i like didnt read the title and i thought the video was cut off before it got to the head xD

  • Can anyone please explain how he does that technique? Yes, ive seen him in the video explaining it but if anyone has an instructional video or something because ive tried and just cant do it.

  • he doesnt even look like he picks the strings that fast...oh god, time to quit playing...

  • makes me happy to see BULB in the suggestions

  • he got that vic wooten technique down as fuck

  • plays so freaking clean. watching infinite regression live was awesome...except the album wasnt out yet

  • eyes are bleeding!

  • A progressive 8 string guitar caprice.

  • HOW.

  • Aside from his technique, his stamina is what makes him so good

  • I would give my left arm to play like... wait.

  • How do you tune that thing ?

  • @alexismorche Low to high: EBEADGBE

  • @alexismorche He has his as EAEADGBE though.

  • @masterjp93 no, EBEADGBE

  • @Iliketacos091 It clearly says in the Dialogue EAEADGBE..... Tosin tunes his 7th string to A.....not B like most..... I know..... its an odd tuning.....but I won't question it because he seems to work with it well. :D

  • @Iliketacos091 It says..right in the discription...He also says it in his interviews...L2R

  • that guitar is perfect... its shape conforms to your body perfectly nomatter what position you play it in.. and the curving frets... genius:D just like tosin:D

  • Tosin Abasi is just too good for this planet at this time. He is either an alien or he's from the future. There's just no way....

  • the picture and sound don't match, there's too many notes lol

is he using some kind of effect?

  • @DangerSheep He's part slapping (using at least 4 fingers, by the way), part tapping.

  • @Iliketacos091 i was talking particularly about the Earth Departure intro - are you saying that he uses all fingers there? because all i could see is the thumb slapping a few notes and it just doesn't make sense :) oh also, infinite regression, same thing.

  • @DangerSheep I'm pretty sure he's using at least his thumb and 2 or 3 of his fingers for this. I have seen him use all 4 though.

  • @DangerSheep It's really hard to tell how many fingers he's using though cuz he curls his hand up and using such small movements for the popping.

  • WTF is Victor Wooten doing on this video? LMAO

  • I keep confusing the pick in his mouth for his tongue.

  • How the hell is he doing that @ 2:09? I've been trying to figure it out sense the album came out.

  • @sireeatalot

     MAGIC

lulz i think its the same thing he does in earth departure

    faster

  • Comment removed

  • my mind is full of fuck

  • Of course it would. Thankyou for pointing that out brainiack

  • This sucks balls ! i can play this shit with my dick

  • @hgtaw Do it then. I'd watch it, it'd be quite impressive.

  • @SpencerrWinterr What? You want to watch a guy playing guitar with his dick? FAG

  • @hgtaw You wouldn't?? Do you even realize how incredibly difficult that would be?! I wouldn't be getting the slightest bit of arousal it would just be ridiculous!

  • Lo odio!!!!!!!! O es guitarrista o es bajista, que se decida ya!!!!!!!!

  • Great tune...still whistling it...

  • @protomartyr i want to learn this on guitar but i would settle for being able to whistle it

  • @protomartyr best comment i've ever seen!

  • i still cant comprehend this technique even after watching the video he slows it down a bit. doesnt even look like hes hitting the other strings

  • @bullrage74 I'm pretty sure he's tapping as well as slapping.

  • WHY DOESN'T HE HIT A WRONG NOTE?????

  • @kilipeti because there are no wrong notes :)

  • what picking technique was that, looked like a slap technique, but it sounded like he was slapping then hitting triplets (which still would be slapping), is that effect or was that his fingers? I couldn't see his fingers move and obviously its Tosin Abasi so clearly my eyes may have missed his lightning fingers

  • @medic2009guy He's slapping and then plucking dead notes with his index and middle finger

  • @coolstorybrooooooo Thank you, I was watching close and I honestly couldn't see it, but then again its Tosin Abasi..... so I'm not suprised, my only other question is, is Tosin Abasi even real? Or is he a cyborg?

  • @medic2009guy its actually a bass technique he learned from Evan Brewer and modified it for guitar. its 4 strokes. Down with the thumb, UP with the thumb, pop with he index, pop with the middle. everything he played in this vdeo is with that technique. i call it the 4 stroke double thump roll, becuz at that point, the fuckers is basically doing drum rudiments on one hand. all other notes ar hammer ons, pull off, and mutes from the left hand. or a mute with the right hand.

  • @4stringFanatico Awesome thanks for the info man, that shit was detailed enough that i'm gonna go look like a surefine tosin abasi trying to get that technique down

  • 0:12 Someone's head exploded

  • an infinite regression O_O

  • What is he even doing?

  • guitar sounds of tune

  • this guy is brilliant, weightless album is perfection

  • This man deserves a religion.

  • How does slap....

  • You look like Gucci mane in this video

  • does anyone else see victor wooten here. . .

  • I want to see him jam it with Buckethead and/or Les Claypool.

  • this dude is was born in the wrong century, this stuff is from the year 3000! cause only robots can do this!!!

  • Great!!

  • why are Africans so obsessed of slaping on bass and now even on guitar _ no racism _

  • nononono! es no possible!

  • sounds like a jazz bass at times

  • Very similar to my Steinberger Spirit, only I only have a 6 string :(

  • Fuck this guy....his perfect technique is downright depressing.

  • @Maxpound sigh. yea. hes talented.

  • El negro garca

  • 0:35 Tosin glitching out the Matrix.

  • earth departureee best song

  • this guys way to obsessed with his thumping :P

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Awesome technique, too bad none of it sounded good.

  • @colorblindvids Have you heard the actual songs these guitar parts go to? Check out their album, Weightless, if you haven't!

  • @NoVanity1 yes i did too

  • its strange how his fingers are going dah-duh, dah-duh but somehow this recording makes it seem a lot faster? wtf?

  • @ACDCwarmachine he's using a weird bass slapping thing, he explained it in a video. Its like his thumb goes up and down on the string wich makes two notes and when the index of his left and tap the string it makes one more note and for the rest he's popping the string after he make the double slap with his thumb. it's something like this if i got i right

  • IMPOSIBRUUUUUU

  • Monster guitar for monster player. : |

    Awesome.

  • Anybody else couldn't see his right hands fingers movin' in the shredder parts?

  • Earth Departure

  • I'd give that guitar head...

  • May as well be a bass at this point.

  • this really doesn't sound very well... first minute sounded like a craptastic kid playing slap bass and the next was a dude learning to play chords.... and then more slap o.o... better than the first minute though..

  • @Defenderofeyre GTFO

  • @Defenderofeyre LOL go listen to something you understand.

  • @Defenderofeyre If you think this is bad, then I REALLY dont want to see what you listen to.

  • @Defenderofeyre

He's a self taught guitarist and he's incredibly innovative, maybe he's just playing around with new techniques he hasn't perfected.. yet

  • I think this man should be a bass player

  • @Bass5SR he makes the best of both worlds on the 8 string guitar. obviously you haven't listened to animals as leaders.

  • @Bass5SR He can do both, hence the 8 strings.

  • these guitars sound better than his ibanez

    beefy,warm, not sloppy at all

    great pups!

  • if anybody know the name of that techique, tell me! :D I need to look that up

  • @LXXXXVI It looks like Victor Wooten's double thumbing technique to me. Hope you have a bass to practise on lol! This guy is one of the most stunning talents I've ever seen btw the Unifier of Jazz Bass and Metal Shred Guitar imho he's going to rewrite the rule book for both instruments. In other words I give up! Lol! Merry Christmas!

  • WTH. how does he do it.

  • he sucks

  • @sengoku17 lol!

  • How the fuck is he achieving so many sounds ... It sounds like he's picking rapidly fast.

But he barely touches the strings with his right hand. How? O.o

  • @Blader999 most of these sounds are bass guitar technique's, check out Billy Sheehan and you'll know see what i mean. Tosin is just incorporating them into guitar playing

  • @jerryzkidz99 He IS using some sorta special delay. It can't be.

I've analized both of his hands now, he's just slapping them with his thumb and it sounds like he's alternate picking rapidly fast.

  • @Blader999 no delay dude..."just" slap + pop and hammer ons

  • @Spacca189

Nah there's got to be some delay there, that riff from 2.10 onwards is almost like tremelo picking and his fingers are not moving enough to be picking those fretted notes. Remeber he does run everything through an Axefx, so there'll be a whole lot of processing going on

  • @ChegzGT1EB

Get your facts straight, he's gone to school to learn theory.

Also, watch 1:08 and on in "Tosin Abasi Plays Strandberg Guitarworks EGS Pro 7-String in Strandberg Booth" and he shows + slows down the technique you think is "definitely delay"

  • @ouodo

Chill out you mardy cunt. I never disputed his muscal theory, everyone has access to wikipedia you know? And i have since seen the video at the strandberg booth where he explains the action for the picking. SO sorry i offended you though, this must mean a lot to you.

  • @ChegzGT1EB Ha hah, oh people and their bickering :)

  • @ChegzGT1EB Wikipedia? They've come through my town numerous times, and I've sat down with the guy. I'm not offended by anything you said, I'm making sure people talking without thinking doesn't confuse anyone else here.

  • @ouodo

Shhh shhh shh. It's all done now, you can stop crying :)

  • @ChegzGT1EB You can stop being a pretentious faggot.

  • @ouodo

Pretentious = "Attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed."

I think you have your words mixed up there boy. I'm being "patronising" Pretentious has a whole different meaning. My comment stands, shush now, it's all done. :)

  • @ChegzGT1EB I definitely meant pretentious. You can be patronizing too, that's fine. You're also a clearly a nigger.

  • @ouodo

Wow this has really hurt you hasn't it? Now not only are you getting you're words mixed up, but you're insulting me with racial comments. Are you aware that Tosin is in fact a black man? Or did you think it was make up?

  • @ChegzGT1EB He may be black, but he's not a nigger like you.

  • @ouodo

Ahhh you see that's the sign of someone who's ego outweighs their intelligence. You've just resorted to inappropriate, childish insults because you have nothing constructive left to say. You probably come from some country where education isn't prioritized, and i feel sorry for you because of that. Being racist is nothing to proud of, you must be a source of shame to your poor parents

  • @ChegzGT1EB nigger
