If when we say "god" we refer to all that is, or the universe, then all we can agree on is that their is both good and evil. Maybe "god" is 49% evil, 49% good and 1% neutral.
BigBoss602162 I wish to take you trough the story of Abraham, in other words an actual study putting things in proper context concerning scripture;
But i believe your intent isn't to know God or anything of God. Everything i say will most likely be use to futher your will do deny God, so I'll just ask you some Questions.
You believe there is evil, if so do you believe there is good?
If you don't believe there is such a thing as good and evil then no more complaints about them and God.
I have read the bible. As a work of fictitious literature, it's quite a decent read. As a way of life, absolutely not. I wouldn't love a fictional being, but I'd still good. What's YOUR answer?
I think to myself a few things:
-Will my action offend anyone?
-Will my action hurt anyone?
-Will my action not be used for great justice?
-Is hate for someone justified?
-If my thoughts are considered bad by people like racists and Neo-Nazis, who degrade races, am I justified?
With all due respect, the fact that you believe there is evil, must mean you believe there is good.
To believe such a thing then you must believe there is a moral standard/law in which to judge what is good and evil; that law must be unchangable and universal, an absolute. It cannot be subjective, therefore it cannot be of man, of humankind.
I suggest you stop trying to deny there is a Law Giver, if you still want to accept there such a thing as good and evil, because you'll need a law.
If there is a god, then why is there such an imbalance of evil in this world?
IIRC, a story in the bible goes that Abraham (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) was ready to kill his son in the name of god, but god intervened and stopped the act. If he can stop a despicable act, and he does exist, what's stopping him from doing that nowadays?
Define what good and evil are. Give me any example of "evil" and I'm sure I can give you example of where that "evil" has some good in it.

Yes, I believe there is good, and evil. I believe it is possible to have a moral standard without god, as god advocated for deaths and exile.
So let me ask you, if you never read the bible, you'd be a murderous pedophile?

Here's my answer to your question, if you read the bible would you love God and do good? ( your answer will be my answer).
btw what do you use to distiguish good from evil?
