  • I originally thought the title meant 5 seconds.

  • I failed to recreate this bug D:

  • I ask now, how did you make it have Yellow's color transitions?

  • @speedemon892000 It's like that if you play them on a gameboy color.

  • @001php only Green does that?

  • @speedemon892000 aside from Yellow that is

  • @speedemon892000 It should play that way on american red/blue as well. At least, that's how I remember it.

Cerulean City was kinda blue-ish, Vermillion City was kind of a golden colour, etc etc.

  • champion: BATTLE ME!

    player: fuck that *walks by*

  • I have a real green edition cartridge :>

but its black! And its in english

  • @CrackedsTight Then it's not real, it's a fake bootleg.

  • It's called the Dokokashira door glitch, only present in the JP Red and Green

  • @LagDotCom can u still buy this game today in Japan?

  • @famguy218 Not easily, I think. Might be a bargain bin thing... there are several copies on ebay for pretty silly prices.

  • @LagDotCom I got a 1.0 Red of amazon for $10.

  • @famguy218 hey if you want this game go to coolroms.com got to emulators download the game boy advance one then go your downloads go to it click on it then its gonna say extract files do it then go back to cool roms go to roms go to gameboy look for it then download then go to the emulator click on the top left corner its gonna say file then go to open an open the file an bam instant pokemon it works just like the original an make sure the emulator is called the vitual boy advance.

  • I think it's called the Dokokashira door glitch

Basically, in the Japanese Green, you could swap an item with a Pokemon, due to a glitch.

After that, you count your steps, and the number of steps you take affects where you appear when you go through a door.

This was fixed in the US version.

  • @dubstepgamer This information is correct. Although it's also fixed in Japanese Blue as well as US Red/Blue.

  • @LagDotCom

The US Red and Blue were built on Blue's engine, yet featured Red and Green Pokemon rates and such.

Due to this, it also makes a fail-trans regarding a certain trade on Cinnabar...

  • @MUGENBaseG I... know? :)

  • @LagDotCom

Yeah, but then...I know one other thing regarding this--because of the script used, an error in Pokemon logic can be seen.

You see, when the Japanese Blue came out, the trade that results in you obtaining Electrode in exchange for Raichu was swapped for a trade involving Kadabra and Graveler. The two traded in Blue evolve via trades.

When we got the US Red and Blue, they forgot to check the scripts, and sure enough, the guy says Raichu evolved, a feat currently impossible. Weird?

  • @MUGENBaseG Which did not help against the rampant Pokegod rumors

  • @SigmaXVirus

Oh, yeah. It took TWO whole Generations to fix, as they used a new script for FireRed and LeafGreen.

  • Damn Gary trains fast... he has a level 5 Squirtle at 1:52 and then a couple minutes later he's the champion.

  • @Xxcom9a Maybe he's the discoverer of Audino.

  • hacks FTW!

  • 5:47 must be the new 5 seconds

  • @MegaSkate1234 it goes in "hours:minutes". I'm sure any idiot would have figur----oh wait.

  • @MegaSkate1234

    I think he/she's going in H:MM format.

  • 4:50

What the heck is Oak doing, peeping into the side of someone's house?

This can only mean that Oak is the original Silver! *dun dun dun!*

Think about it. Silver did the same thing.

  • Blue at 5:28 is like 'This guy knows his glitches! I'm outta here, man!'

Oh, the fun you can have with glitches.

  • on my pokemon silver a lv6 furret appared on route 7 with no cheats

  • First of all, because apparently, clarifications are necessary:

Blue version is a souped-up version of the original Red and Green versions. It got released to America without much tinkering. The Red version issued to America was reverse-engineered from this version.

Second of all, because I just had to do this:

    DOKOKASHIRA!?

  • I got to this from the 'Dokokashira door glitch' on Bulbapedia while reading up on glitches and I still dont understand it.

  • Wow such big comments are here.

  • WTF! This makes no sense at all why doing all this would spawn you into the elite 4!

  • @demonwolfdawg How did somebody even find out about this! Its impossible somebody did it by pure luck or that somebody found this in the coding!, Im so confused : /

  • @demonwolfdawg It was a glitch involving the way that the item movement worked; it shuffled around data in the game if certain buttons were pressed. One such data value was warp data; if you take 73 steps and move into Blue's house, it'll reassign the warp value to Route... 7, was it? After that, this then glitches up the Celadon Dept. Store warps as well to the Hall of Fame.

  • everyone whos into pokemon needs to check out pokemon adventures wikipedia because it explains who everyone is!!! red is protagonist blue is reds rival green is a girl whos friends with yellow. yellow is a girl dressed as a boy to help find Red as he has disappeared after receiving a challenge letter sent to him by Lorelei of the Elite Four. They plan to lure him to them, so as to get information on Giovannis...

  • Poketto Monsutā Midori (Green) the same as the US blue, Poketto Monsutā Aka (Red) was the same as the US Red: as far as pokemon availabilities, but had different sprites than the ones use in the US version. Poketto Monsutā Ao (Blue) was a mail-order-only special edition, it had a different mix of pokemon that the Midori and Aka and had different sprites for the pokemon. Those sprites were used for the Blue and Red versions released to the rest of the world.

  • @DarkAvatar1313 mostly

    you kinda contradicted yourself there.

Green is NOT the same as the US blue.

hence why there was a japanese blue released.

Besides sprites being different in both games blue and red had different pokemon loadouts than green and red.

  • @FuturePants your right but its because to japanese blue is green and green is blue...

  • @kr4zyr4ver again, not 100%

blue is green only in the sense that that it was the first game and counterpart to red.

Green and our blue are NOT the same.

blue and the japanese blue ARE.

that is what I was saying.

in japan there are 3 original pokemon games red/green then later blue which was just our blue, because green had a few differences from our blue.

We never got green at all, japan got our blue though.

    All 3 are different.

  • @FuturePants oh I'm sorry i didn't really explain myself. i know its different we had only red blue and yellow and japan had those 3 plus green. i was just saying japan says blue as green and visa versa. to back up me knowing all for is different. each game is based on a character whose name is what game your playing. red is red. reds rival is blue. green is a friend with yellow and is a girl. and yellow is also a girl but her story is she dressed up as a guy in disguise.

  • @DarkAvatar1313 And the games released to the rest of the world had the minor updates in the game engine that Blue had recieved:That's why this glitch is only possible in a Japanese game.

  • @PivotMasterAX yes, they did. this is the original Pokemon Green released in Japan, before they improved and renamed it to Blue.

  • @LagDotCom what do you mean by renamed and remade to blue... Green (known as Blue in Japan) - A crafty and perky girl who stole a Squirtle from Professor Oak. She is a friend of Yellows and deceived Red into buying fake items. Now a friend of Red. Has a past with Silver. Her Squirtle has since evolved into a Blastoise. She excels at evolving Pokémon (The Evolver). Her current team comprises Blastoise, Wigglytuff, Clefable, Granbull, Nidoqueen, and Ditto.

  • @LagDotCom It wasn't renamed. The U.S. releases were named Red and Blue and used Blue (Japan)'s game, instead of the inferior games of Red/Green.

Nothing was "Renamed" in a sense at all, simply released differently. (If anyone believes I'm wrong, they didn't read the first half of my post.)

  • @sonofashogun What about "changing the name from 'Blue' to 'Red' and 'Blue'" is not renaming? 8)

  • @sonofashogun Green is actually a completely different game.

  • @LagDotCom They didn't improve, they made the game easier, and it was released in US. The US version, blue, was later released in japan as a special edition, available only via a special subscription to a magazine or something/

  • @PivotMasterAX You fail at life.

  • ¿Cómo haces que se vea a color y de donde lo descargaste?

T-T si no es mucha molestia me dices?

  • ¿Cómo haces para que se vea a color?

  • LOL, WUT

  • Did this involve manipulating luck at all, such as making the Rattata appear at that moment?

  • @NotanS Roughly, it doesn't matter when the encounter occurs, as long as it's after you activate the parcel switch and before you get back to Pallet. It's pretty likely to get an encounter in that stretch of road. If you don't, you can just walk back and forth until you do, anyway.

  • now how the hell are you supposed to catch mewtwo??!?! i wouldnt waste my time with gary and the loser gym leaders........

  • Clearly, Oak's Parcel was actually a wormhole in a box!

  • WTF H4X (lol bugs rule)

  • Now that's awesome. Long live the Gen1 Pokémon bugs and glitches! Especially considering I'm still hearing/learning about new ones, and Pokémon first came out (in Japan, granted), what, a whole 15 years ago, according to the copyright date? At least more than a decade, anyway, according to American RBY copyright date. Anyway. That's insane. And really cool. As is this video.

  • wait, what is the actual bug procedure? I don't get it

what causes the bug to happen

  • The 'swap' operation with Oak's Parcel is still active when I select to swap a pokemon. So it transfers a load of shit around in memory and breaks everything. One interesting thing it does is overwite the 'teleport to next area' data with your step counter.

  • Is this still possible in the updated Red and Blue or does it need to be done on the original Red and Green?

  • Only on the original. Red/Blue uses a newer engine which cuts out this silly bug.

  • Thats cool

  • lolwut?

  • hall of fame:

    Charmander lvl 5

  • @DJcrossPT Champion:That was a fucking tough Charmander...

  • @DJcrossPT

    Hall of fame v2:

Yeah, nothing. You completed game without Pokémon.

  • LOL good movie =)

  • Lol that's sick! :D Emulator tho?

  • yes, though this trick is easily performable on the real thing

  • LOL!!!! Epic,,

  • If you wanna know what the Japanese says just get Red and copy it and anyway Red would only cost about 1 Euro.

  • The completion time shows '0:05' so that's what I labelled it. Most people take hours to finish Pokemon :p

  • 0:05 is 5 minutes

  • grrr i hate when games are only released in japan

lawl i love the glitch though ^_^

  • it came out in the us and parts of europe too, but i love the glitch also

  • @PlaystationMasterPS3 really? is it just really rare or something?

  • Comment removed

  • I think Japanese characters take up less space than English.

  • You had full color when playing on the Super Game Boy.

  • Nice glitch, LOL

  • I like Green over Blue and Red better, because it was in full color when put on a GBC. Even though Red and Blue came out later in the US and Japan, Green was still better. Better sprites, better colors, more glitches!

  • Red and Green JP had worse sprites, and more glitches is a bad thing.

  • Pokemon green was made in 1996 this was also made on the gameboy which possibly did not have the compatability to make "excellent" sprites.

  • No you could first be a girl in Crystal AKA my fav game.

  • lol glitch?

  • Haha, I still have my original cart of this, weird shit happens everywhere when you do that glitch

  • so whats the difference in this game???

  • you get 3 save files?

  • No, what you saw was the options screen. Just like in our R//B/Y :)

Green is the best out of all of them!

  • lol, i am so dumb....i didnt read the text (im 1/4 japanese) lol...thanks tho!

  • I wish I was Japanese :D

  • lol, i look nothing like an asian tho cause im only 1/4...even tho my brother is also and looks japanese

  • so this is green huh? its just like red and blue....and yellow..and gold and silver

  • half wrong. gold and silver are completely different. newer pokemon, and characters. and if i remember it introduced the first time you could be a girl. when game freak makes these games, they make different versions that are all similar just with slight storyline and/or pokemon changes(i.e. Pikachu is practically impossible to find blue, but somewhat easy in red, and are located in different spots of the map)and green was just an introduction anyways

  • oh yeah your right. never mind

  • lol yeah. God, that comment made me sound like a big ass nerd lol

  • lol its fun 2 be a nerd

  • it is lol I'm playing Crystal right now lol

  • Lowl =D 5/5

  • that says 5 minutes, not seconds... anywho, cool

  • Well, the game lets you do it :)

  • i always ask myself, how people find these tricks...

  • by reading the source code and using common methods to exploit bugs or exploitable code.

  • Actually, the American version of Red and Blue use a newer version of the original Pokemon Red and Green engine, so technically speaking, Red and Blue are better than Red and Green.

    The more you know *

  • The fact that American Red and Blue versions used Japanese newer version of blue doesn't mean that Japanese Green Sprites don't Look Better that american ones...

I agree with 19jonjon96, Green Sprites are pretty good, but they're not colored, is only the rom that was colored as Yellow version.

  • wow, league champ in less than 6 mins lol

  • ever notice how in blue/green/red it either shows a nidorino with a nidorina's cry or vice versa?

  • I wonder if this version has the same kinds of pokemon in either red, yellow or blue.

  • Yep. The random encounters are approximately the same as Blue, iirc.

  • Japanese Green used the exact same wild encounters as English Blue, yes.

  • WOW.... thats really old..

  • Why does everyone always pick Charmander (Shado in this version) as their starter pokemon? oO

  • ...Shado? What? The Katakana reads as Hitokage.

  • yeah, they all have different names, probably their original jap names.

  • ahahaha holy shit and I thought the North American versions were buggy

not sure I understand exactly what happened here; did you get the game to switch Oak's Parcel with Charmander? and that somehow screwed up the order of the warps?

  • how much steps u need to do? cuz i did the same thing as u and it didnt work

  • LOL I had an english version of this but it was engrish.

Pikachu was called pikak and OAK was called OKhuybd or something and people would speak like 'suighsugrCXCXCXDFgXXxxkjj77' and the game went all wierd when you gave OAK the parcel.

  • There is no English version of Pokémon Green since this game exclusive to Japan. So pretty much any translated Green version game is a complete rip off.

  • Woh, sí q

  • Why is there no battle animations?

  • I turn them off at the beginning.

  • Er japaniso no talk :D

  • Haha xD

  • how do you get it so it reads english cuz i cant get it

  • which came first the game or the show

  • The game, I think. I'm not even sure if there was a manga before the anime; I think it jumped right into animation first. Then came the card game, of course. And a video game of the card game. 8)

  • game was first

  • If I remember correctly, it's:

    Game

    Manga

    Anime

    Toy Figures

    Card Game

And somewhere along the lines comes all the great videos of glitches and hacking.

  • the game came out first, then there was a comic based on the game, then there was a show based on the comic based on the game, and then there was a comic based on the show based on the comic based on the game...hahah

  • No, the show came out first.

  • Nope, you're wrong.

  • OMG cool

  • is this a glitch or a cheat?

    a good video^^

  • Just a glitch. A fairly serious one, mind you. Instead of warping where I did, you can use the same glitch to warp just about anywhere in the world. The problem is that it often takes you inside buildings/walls, trapping you. Some creative messing about was needed to find the quickest route to the end of the game. :)

  • thats no glitch like Doag4 said...

    u can change the color...

    it sometimes is fun...

but the Green Version is a Japanese version

  • thx for backing me up man :)

  • this is an entirely different game >_> it's green version

  • Um sorry thats wrong maybe you should try what i just said look i bet you wernt even a pokemon fan

im not a number 1# fan BUT i do know most of the glitches AND tricks you can do in the old pokemon games for example in this video it wasnt a glitch it was a trick

go ahead turn on your game boy and immediatly press up ,down ,left or right

  • I think the pokemon look better in green version than in red/blue.

  • wat is diferent bwt green to the otha games?

  • They are ever slightly newer games 8)

  • what is difference about pokemon green version then blue and red ?

  • Not much from a player's point of view; the underlying code has been rewritten in Red & Blue, preventing bugs such as this one. Apart from that, I think some of the pokemon 'cries' were changed and also the Bird type was added?

  • Bird type is in green version, thunder shock still is super effective on pidgey.

  • Hi i´ve a question did somebody try that with red/blue/yellow ??

    thx

  • Doesn't work, I can guarantee it

  • it would be too good ^^

where acn i get the green ? does it exist on a emulator ?

  • Yeah, it'll be called "Pocket Monsters - Green Version (J) (V1.0) [C].gb" or something

  • I remember finding this game at a laundry mat when I was a kid. Still have it as today. Did not went very far in the game. Hard to understand back then.

  • i have a question.

when you start to walk aroud your house after you have done this glitch, a text thing pops up.

do you have any idea what it says??? thanks

  • Hmm, sometimes the glitch messes up your pokemon's HP/Max HP, resulting in the game thinking your pokemon has fainted. That might be it.

  • thanks!!

  • Oh wow! It looks so retro and discoloured! Even more so than the Yellow, Blue and Reds - and that's saying something!

  • i got this game

  • I had pokémon green in engrish ages ago, no-one made any sence and after a certain point all the text started fucking up.

  • I tried it, dident work :(

  • It's got to be on japanese green, and you have to press the buttons precisely as I did. Also, the game can randomly crash during the battle or just after, you have to be slightly lucky.

  • lol

  • Check your facts; I'm playing it through the Super Gameboy. The original cartridge contains colours which the SGB can use.

    So shut up. :)
