Growing up as a young kid in the 1970s....I used to think of Hall & Oates as two brothers trapped in the body of white men. They had so much soul. I liked them the moment I began listening to their music.
As far as I'm aware, I'm pretty certain that when he said 'Don't mess with imperfection', it meant don't attempt to replicate or recreate their songs, not their style :) I'm presuming that in the blatant and style-conscious 1980s, it will have challged their lives xD
Love the video! Where can I find the version with that intro. The intro I don't think if part of the official recordin'. I also like how Daryl says at the end "Don't mess with imperfection!"
nah, that's a different intro that's cool... the beginning of the video is the bridge part of the extended version, where it starts up again at the end. they had alot of different mixes of songs off this album... my fave is the dub version of modern love... more instrumental
I love this song!! Too Funky!! I love how Daryll breaks it down on the ending chorus. It's almost like a rap!! And remember, "don't mess with imperfection."
@spyderj1999 i agree with you....ive always called it 'mc-ing' a song...the way an singer breaks it down on the ending chorus as u so properly put it...daryll was no joke
Who cares if this video is "dated". The song is strong and I still love it. It's interesting. You don't expect what's coming next..

They did some cutting edge video stuff in the day, trailblazing you might say. Still an extraordinarily talented duo. Good stuff!

god I like the end part when the pitch is higher and startin to rap... respect.
When I listen to this song I always picture a beautifull bikini lady with big 70's sunglasses next to a villa swimmingpool sunbathing. :)
