According to my log this occurred on 2/17/71, off of the Ticonderoga (CVS-14). We were doing carrier landing qualifications and there were huge swells coming in off of the Pacific. We were in a C1A and had just turned final when this event took place. From our ringside view we thought for sure the S2 had gone in; but here it comes chugging up out of the water and spray, streaming water from every trailing edge.
