  • I was hoping this video would show the workings underground.

  • 2 viewers are dirty hippies

  • Avolite, I have my opinion, and you have yours. Any time I can give factual information on any subject, I will continue to do so...even at the risk of, as you say, dividing us all. We still live in a country where free speech is a constitutional right...at least, for now.

  • Peak oil is a scam, just like global warming. Anybody referring to "peak oil" is severely uneducated on the subject. Go back to watching MSNBC, will you, RandomConcepts?

  • @GilbertLA63 . . . Gosh Golbert, thank you for doing your part to further divide us all. Your snarky knee jerk comments and flag waiving on points of view not neatly boxed into yours is really helpful.

  • I want arab money

  • that guy is a dumb ass

  • so theres an electric motor now I get it

  • nice donkey konks

  • It's cool that some are actually in town and not gathered outside in regular fields.

  • great video

  • Our family took a trip out West in the mid 60's and the oil pumps always fascinated me. They were all going at different speeds. Even now, I could watch one for hours.

  • Heh. You guys are leaving out wars, terrorist acts, and revolutionary activity that gets the oil pumping through the pumps.

If only United States used oil, and other countries used something else, it wouldn't be like this. But control of oil is control of growth. Like Age of Empires or War Craft, control enemy's resources, and you control enemy. Why you think they're in Iraq and Pipelanistan?

    9/11?

Sounds like an excuse to get in there and secure oil.

  • i have a great view of these pumps from my house, i live right off the bluffs here in bakersfield and you can litteraly see these pumps for miles, plus i do work in the oilfields.

  • I am working on being a Geologist, I enjoy seeing oil wells. They have interested me since I was about 6. Thanks for sharing

  • I think the pumpjacks look scarrey.... it may sound strange but im kinda scarred of them, somehow they look frightened especially during the night...

  • Very good video. Thanks a lot for posting it.

  • Just went through Bakersfield and stopped to look at the pumps and thanks to your video I know how they work! Great job!!!

  • Oil wells are everywhere in Kern county.

  • Nicely done! Thank you for educating me on this subject. Oil wells are people, too!

  • wow thnx

  • Very well done. These pumps can be anywhere from 6 feet tall to fifty feet tall, and can pull a string of rod up and down from more than a mile down into the earth. They work on the same basic priciple as the old hand-pumps on a farm where you pump a lever that pulls a rod up and down until water comes out. Fascinating machines!

  • Very informative and well-done.
