  • On Canons the AF modes are called: One Shot (single), AI Servo (continuous) and AI Focus (auto)

  • First time for me that I'm watching Greg's videos... he is a very nice guy and his love for photography is really contagious... Thumbs up for Greg!

  • omg i want your shirt, whered you get it?

  • @jennynomnom cazillo .com/t

  • Ref: Brainmuffin flickr stream. Why do my pictures suck?

  • What is bracketing!? Is it a white balance thing? ...back to my manual :/

  • @funincluded No bracketing is shooting multiple exposures of the same scene for an exposure range...yup, thats in the manual.

  • I only know a little bit about metering; my manual doesn't explain the situations where center metering is appropriate. That is only for getting this really accurate off of a grey card in-studio, right?

  • @funincluded Thats where I come in! I added your suggestions to my list. Center weighted metering is for situations where you don't want most of the background to be considered in the metering calculations. For example posing someone in front of a bright window. I only use gray cards for white balance, not metering.

  • I don't find the 100% zoom on the focus point with the "ok" button on my D700, does it really have this function ?

  • @riheljana Yup.

  • I'll be honest. Since the breakup I've actually quit watching your videos(and that other guys). To much information overload, but this video quickly caught my eye. Did you mention the 'Roger Beep' anywhere in the video? If you did I missed it. But the most annoying thing with any camera is hearing someone's stupid ass roger beep. Please emphasize turning it off.

  • @ForSquirrel Nope, use it all the time.

  • i been using d3000 and upgraded to d90..and i find auto iso kind of handy when shooting with family and just having fun/relax shooting at low light condition..

  • Greg, I run a YouTube channel with 3900 subscribers (another account). A subscriber suggested I number my videos and I think it helped with subs. For example, you can put #45 at the beginning of the title, then people know you have more then one video. Unless they check your channel they will never know.

  • @SunsetRC I'm not sure if that would effect my rank in SERPs since i'd be adding something not as pertinent to the title.

  • @FinlandApollo thanks alot it worked :]!

  • one day, I was taking a night outdoor sport photos a guy with a 400mm f5.6L lens asked me how do I deal with these low light situation outdoor. I told him to push up his ISO on camera

    He says what is ISO?

  • awesome shirt! i wanna ask u a question about ur logo please.. because i am creating one mine for my brand! why there is red blocks kinda thing in your logo? that looks good but what that indicates? please reply thanks!:) good informative video though!

  • Great stuff as usual. Gotta be able to change settings quickly without looking; could be the difference between getting the shot and missing it. Also, as others have said, there is an error at 3:53...Nikons are backwards! Always have been...lol. Also, as soon as the video started (and without seeing a single comment), my first thought was "Greg's losing weight." Way to go!

  • 11:11 end video :)

  • I think you are really enjoying making these videos? Am I right Greg?

  • @Tennishead21 Absolutely! The best part is all the wonderful feedback I get, plus the encouragement to keep going!

  • @GregoryCazillo And you should be proud. You have a channel full of great photography content and the forum is shaping up well. Keep it up! :)

  • 3:30 is it me or "dirty mind mode" just kick in after this advice 3:25

    :

  • Telling comment: "Canon's do it BACKWARDS"!

  • Nikon does it backwards for mounting lenses, not Canon. Canon is righty-tighty and lefty-loosey. Nikon is the opposite.

  • @vnitto Righty-loosey lefty-tighty. Damn that's hard to say!

  • hey greg i need your help,i own a nikon d90 and when takeing video in order for it not to adjust the lighting when moveing from a dark room to one with more light i have to be holding down the AE-L button,is there a way i can do it without haveing to hold it down the the entire time im filming? thanks

  • @thebestipodtouch I don't have a d90 to test and help you, sorry. I'd say first RTFM and see if there is an autoexposure mode and how to turn it on.

  • @thebestipodtouch How about you change the function of the AE-L button to hold? I use this, you don't need to hold the button down, just press it and it locks and holds. :) D90 doesn't have manual video exposure settings so that's the only way to adjust the lightning.

  • Hey Greg, another good video - as a hobbyist for three years I felt a little proud about thinking "yep, done that, yep got that set, yep deffo know to do that". Your vids are informative (hence my subscription) but it's apparent you're wanting more subs... noticed you do the intro style like Jared ("cazillo...[pause]...dot com")... just wanted to point out that if I've realised, others will too!

Maybe, keep up the technical side of things - take care of the people who _want_ to learn.

  • AE Lock !

  • Greg, this is a much better video than the RTFM one. You have to show us how to do EVERYTHING!! RTFM sounds good, but Cazillions CAN'T READ!! That's why we're photographers. We need pictures!

  • @MrPerryPhoto As I mentioned in RTFM this video was coming...two different animals!

  • Hey Greg, your videos are great and very resourceful! Just a suggestion, never been really crazy for your setup on videos like this video tho. Maybe instead of having a check list on the white board stand in sort of same location and make a digital check list instead. It might take a lil extra time to edit the videos but to me it would draw more visual interest.

    Keep up the good work!

  • @DanKPhotography Thats why I provided a list on the website...

  • hey thanks great video and u lost some weight u look better! i know the advantages of shooting raw but most of the time i can't i have to have my pictures ready. could u do a video and how to shoot good jped? and explain d-lighting

  • @nikonorcanon1 Sorry, I don't shoot jpeg.

  • Furthermore I can see when I'm pressing the Shutter half way down which ISO will be chosen by the camera. I'm 90% happy with the ISO - in rare cases I'll change it. Most times I'd like to take the picture with the ISO chosen by the camera.

  • Is it REALLY bad to use Auto ISO? Imho it's important to set the Aperture and Shuttter Speed to get the image I want - everything else I'd like that the camera takes care of. I can almost guess the ISO, whether it will be 400 or 800. But i don't know if it will be 400, 640 or 800 the camera will normally (depending on my Metering) set the correct exposure. But I also know to define the correct Metering for the current situation. So is it a bad habbit, or a "beginners" mistake to use Auto ISO?

  • 03:53 I think Nikon goes backward and Canon goes forward hahaha...

  • are you loosing weight Greg?

  • @asjesus1 I was about to ask the same thing!

  • @asjesus1 Trying, thanks for noticing!

  • @GregoryCazillo Like Nike, "Just do it" :)

  • @GregoryCazillo I love how passionate you are in lecturing people on the internet about photography. Your breathing though is kinda distracting a little bit, but that's just me..

  • i always forget changing timezone when on travel. luckily lightroom has a feature for changing timezone really fast for multiple photos

  • Greg, try to write in readable letters next time. It's hard to read what's on the whiteboard.

  • @w0ble Thats why I have a list on the website.

  • On Canon EOS 7D focus modes are as follows: Ai Focus(Automatic), Ai Servo(continuous) and One Shot(single). And Focus point selection modes are: Zone AF, Spot AF,AF point expansion, Single Point AF, and Automatic.

  • Reading manuals are for whimps

  • Great video!

  • D-Lighting does affect RAWs, at lest it underexposes your images, you can check it by metering the same spot with Active D-Lighting turned on. Otherwise, great tips :)

  • Hey Greg, you must of not looked at Hard Drive Prices recently. They have gone WAY UP because of the flooding in Thailand.

Back in August I bought 2 1.5gb drives at $94.99 each, total $189.98. Now they want $179.99 for ONE!

  • hurray for the d7000! everyone of these settings has a hardware button :D

  • swap a 70-200 with your eyes closed hehe

  • Great Video

  • great vid again Greg, couldn't agree more... on a Canon they are called *One Shot (single) *AI Focus (dynamic af) and *AI Servo (continuous)

ps: Canon lenses go on clockwise. Nikon goes on counter clockwise....so technically Nikon goes on backwards LOL

  • @dazxmedia I use Nikon and I always thought it was backwards too. Like when you use screws, it's clockwise to fasten.

  • @tmlim526 exactly... i loved my Nikons tho, just so no one thinks I'm dissin

  • Comment removed

  • D7000 does NOT have OK button preview mode function :(

  • @ladduro Yeah, I looked for it as well.

  • @ladduro D700 neither

  • Loving your vids. At some point could you do one on the angle of reflectence?

  • Great tips! Thanks Mr.Greg! Keep these videos coming.

  • I have tried other focus modes and the AF motor struggles to lock.

Time and Date - I forget to do this

  • @Maxsdiscos I'll remind you if you follow me on twitter for DST changes...make sure your focus point is on an area with contrasting colors for the best/fastest lock. Check out this video youtube.com/watch?v=viJRI4LMm1M

  • @GregoryCazillo I tend to stick to the "Evalutive" / "Matrix" setting with the 5 boxes, I think it is; and "Single".

  • glad to see these quick tips! thanks again

  • 1st viewer!! I think... I LOVE YOU GREG <3
