  • spicy man!

  • i love lonnie mack's style

  • Nice...thanks!

  • thank YOU buddy..wooha

  • LM. Plays tuned down to an e. In the old days strings were so heavy that you couldn't bend them. Tuned down it was easier to bend so he stayed with it. He also used slot of vibrato so much that it sounds wrong except when he plays. LM plays this differently. I have his video lesson.

  • Easy???!

  • more like johnny rivers, than lonnie mack. i play this song, lonnie mack's style... in the cord of G"

  • TN? hell ya. come on down to nashville fuckin every bar wants a good blues player

  • I'd love to see what he is doing with his right hand.... great playing though

  • i LOVE surfrock !!!!

    Very GREAT

  • ok, I will be frank: I am a beginner and I cant follow your explications:( sorry, can u explain a tad more slowly and more specific, or post a tab or something cuz I sincerly cant understand... dont know what wrong with me but still..... plssss

  • To CRaul87: Nothing is wrong with you it's perfectly normal to be not as experienced on guitar as others, he didn't mention the strumming pattern with his right hand. It will all come together with time and practice. Keep rockin' guys and keep the blues alive!

  • john your beautiful baby

  • nice chuck berry riff's

  • Great playing man.5*

  • thank you guy

  • could someone please help me with the strumming

  • A lifetime's ambition fulfilled!

    Many thanks - Erlend

PS: What is the fiddly bit you do during the final E?!

  • its funny but I figured this song out some time back but only with single notes and I was happy

now I hear it/see it this way and BAM!! way better

thanks break down the other parts if you will

  • so what was the right hand doing?

  • nice lesson,thanks

  • I have only been playing for 3 years but i go crazy for lessons like these.I had no idea how easy this song was.Its great to learn riffs that expand your creativity. Not all riffs do that but this does for me.Moo chos grassy arse!+5

  • if youve been playing for so long you shouldnt be looking up easy riffs on the internet, learn some theory and thatll expand your creativity like you wouldnt believe.

    peace

  • Your right.Theory scares me! lol

  • Still.... looking for licks and whatnot on youtube can expand your creativity.

One lick played in The key of B minor can be played in the Key of any other key the same way.

It's not about learning the lick, it's all about learning FROM the lick.

The theory just lightens it a bit on us. All you need to know.... scales and chord shapes. But what you want to know is the whole bag.

Youtube vid browsing helps. Just listening to them playing the lick might inspire for something you never heard.

  • I'm not disagreeing or anything ... just adding on.

  • Thank you for teaching me the right way to play that lick!!

  • nice easy lick. so good!

  • Best lick of all rock & roll. Thank you for the lesson, very good.

  • Muchas Gracias por tus videos!

Me han ayudado de mucho, puesto que soy un principiante !

    saludos desde Chile

  • excellent

  • Really great brilliant Memphis guitar licks. Thank you very much for share this with us!

  • John Tks your erply. Keep up the good work we newbies need you.

  • Love what you did and for a beginner I almost have it. The intro you do not show the picking hand. I cannot figure out the timing or strumming sequence. got the rest. As others have asked do you have tabs??? Tks Great Job.

  • The strumming on this is just a down up down up than slide down. As far as tabs I really have no way to show other than the annotations that You Tube allows. Thanks and keep watching.John

  • ahh I couldnt figure the strumming pattern out by hearing, but after reading this comment i'm getting the lick down

  • @jdef11 Timing as you want. Fast or slow. It should be ok.

  • haha that got me going

  • can you send me the tab for this pls?

    thanks

  • As far as tabs I really have no way to show other than the annotations that You Tube allows. These videos are something I just do on the fly for fun. Thanks and keep watching.John

  • @IondinZion you should be able to hear what's going on. i am against tabs

  • Great - love it!

  • You need to start off with what key your in. I play it in E myself, but the lead is so easy it just came to me the first time I played the song, I find it very interesting that guitarists can't just automatically play this riff it is really easy.

  • Thanks, This is in the key of E, I show this in the caption in the title right off. Thanks John

  • thx bro this helps a lot

  • yeah...tnx a lot buddy!!

  • delicious lesson man

  • Hey man, you rock. This lesson made my day because I've been trying for quite some time to learn this lick. Thanks a million.

  • thankyou for sharing your knowledge

  • awesome!

  • i'm a newbie and it isnt so easy...

i'm learning by listening and it works for me:p

  • nice, pls show the lick at the top,,

  • Thanks Man!

  • oh man its been 4 years i've been wanting to learn this i cant thank you any more cheers from canada

  • Love that funky guitar sound with the fast attack compression and slap back echo. Now all you need to add are some vocals and Memphis will be a rockin'!

  • Good stuff, well explained too.
