I watch this clip every once in a while; love it every time. Love getting together and jamming with friends and family. Most mainlanders will never "get" the island-style. That's all right with me...
hey i dont know if anybody noticed but aldrine from ukulele underground is jamin with them he is really a kool person and is willing to share his talents with those who want to learn how to play the uke including me much props and respect to him also pau hana or the remainder of the group.
Glad you had such an awesome experience but sorry to inform you that Shannon Kaopua is NOT the original composer of this or any other PAU HANA song. It may surprise you to know that the credits he received (only 2) on the Return with Honour CD was a "courtesy". You should've asked Shannon if he REALLY wrote the song.
No I'm not an original band member (wish I had that kind of talent. LOL!) but, I definitely have been around from the start. I have ties to some of the OG band members. So, yes, my response may be a little personal. *wink*. But dont you think credit should be given where it is due? I was just correcting the info posted w/this video. But thanks for asking anyway :o)
Its kool i was asking because im not a big listener of island music and i met Shannon & John in San Diego a couple of weeks back , was just interested in how long the band has been around :-) from curious Kiwi

Curios Kiwi~
If memory serves me right, Pau Hana got together & released their first album "Return with Honour" around spring '97. Not sure when they "found" John. Maybe Shannon shouldve looked a little harder cause John cant remember the lyrics to songs. lol!
Anyway, Maybe one day you'll become more of an island music listener. Especially, the origianl Pau Hana songs. Dont listen to anything with John singing. Needless to say, he sounds (and looks) pitiful! LOL! :o)
Credit doesn't need to be given anywhere....considering this video is simply a bunch of friends having fun playing music together. Stop sounding like a complete douche bag on every video and enjoy the music you fag
i understand the point Liahona6 is trying to make about giving credit to the origianl band members, but she's posted the same frickin' comment elsewhere. we get the point. move one! shiieeet! it AIN'T that serious to be posting the same comment elsewhere. how about we give credit to the person who was smart enough to trademark the name PAU HANA because obviously they've maintained the name, band and provided new members. NEXT!!! *rolls eyes* we still love the original band members!
If you had REALLY been jammin' with the ORIGINAL Pau Hana Crew, this video would sound just like the CD. But sadly, it is a pathetic attempt at a "classic island jam". Hope your meeting didnt crush your admiration of the music and spirit of Pau Hana, in its original form. Keep up the great work! YOU (and only you your friends) sounded great! :o)
hoooo...im so jealous brah...dis is da first song i learn how for play....still kant play and sing yet...i only know maybe 4 songs...same chords different strum pattern type thing you know? only been playing for a couple weeks really...looked like fun...shoots brah!
Amazing nite! Thanks Aldrine, Ryan, and Aaron for doing your workshop at my dance studio! We appreciate it so much. Thanks for letting us (Pau Hana) sing with you guys..that was FUN!! Look forward to seeing you all again..just give us a call! Much alofas and thanks to you..miss you guys. - Flo and Branden ..Pacific Arts Dance Studio.
