Thanks guys, I actually cut this before the second theatrical trailer came out, so all I had were Teaser, first Trailer, some behind the scenes promos and a bootleg prologue. Now I would do it all differently of course, and cut the non-Joker laugh and prestige line.

can anyone help me, when people make these fan trailers for youtube, with their own music n cuts of scenes, how do they do it? how you get the footage?? a special program or something??

Most of em, including myself use editing software which you can buy from PC shops, I use PInnacle Studios, which is rather cheap and good quality product. As for the footage itself, most people rip it from DVDs using online software. I cant do that, so I film my TV screen with a digital camcorder as it plays the movie and upload the footage into the editing software. The quality isnt great but you get what you need. Hope that helps you out and anybody else reading this :)

right dude. You need to get a program to get past the copyright on dvds and save them on your harddrive. Then you need a program called dvdx, or at least a similar program that allows you to turn that film on your hard drive into a useable format (eg Mpegs). Then you want an editing software. I use Windows Movie Maker because my computer is crap, but WMM is quite amateurish and prone to crashes so is upto you.

we rip dvds we own with Magic DVD ripper. :)  And edit the them in sony vegas, Pinnackle studio or Premiere pro. I prefer Sony Vegas. The audio can be downloaded from youtube with "Free Youtube to mp3 converter. Feel free to see my trailers for insperation :)

Okay so, the editing is brilliant... but this is only suitable for people who know the trailers already I think because the dialogue really isn't placed in an order you can follow. That's it; it was clear, brilliant, awesome and I can't wait for this fucking movie! 5/5.

Great trailer, the only complaint is that there was a spot where the audio made kind of like a sound jump were one part is louder then the other but i think it was unavoidable, all in all great trailer. looked like a liget theatrical trailer. 5 stars

You need some high quality sound editing software, im using Adobe Audition. I just imported the sound straight from the trailer to keep it as true as possible, then use a tool like Center Channel Extractor to keep the vocals only. Its actually really crappy but the music I added to it masks the clicks and stuff still left behind

That was pretty impressive. I would sort of slow it down a little more though, save some of the Joker's laughs closer to the end, and take out the clip from The Prestige. Other than that, it could almost rival a new official trailer.
